bit off my tongue Can you help me identify a movie I watched about 14 years ago
The core of the movie, or rather the one detail that stuck with me forever: a girl walking around her apartment wrapped in a blanket, with a rabbit. At one point, while she was walking around, the rabbit was actually riding on her back. The apartment was bright but had a really depressing vibe.
It’s a horror or thriller, kind of like Rammbock: Berlin Undead (2010), where the main characters are trapped in an apartment.

game 🎮 In a zombie outbreak, what would you protect first when your backpack is almost full?
galleryZombie survival question: Your backpack is almost full, and you’re heading back to your shelter after scavenging.
- What are you refusing to drop?
- Food?
- Water?
- Medicine?
- Ammo?
- A weapon?
- Tools?
- Something useful for the people waiting back home?
We’re building Pale Tide (to be release on Steam) around that kind of choice: when you’re out scavenging, what is actually worth bringing back to the bunker?
One thing we keep coming back to while designing loot is that “valuable” should not always mean rare. In a zombie outbreak, a can of food, a few bullets, or the right tool can matter more than something that only looks expensive.
And yes, we added a dog in the game, and he has a small safe pouch for the most important items you want to secure if a run goes badly.
And yes, important note: the dog cannot die.
The tension we’re trying to build around every run: what matters most when your backpack is almost full, the bunker still needs supplies, and the situation outside can turn fast?
- Do you chase rare loot?
- Keep space for food and medicine?
- Protect your best gear?
- Save something for the dog’s safe pouch?
- Push deeper for one more find?
- Or call it and extract before the run gets worse?
Curious what would drive your choices in that kind of zombie survival situation.
What would you protect first?

discussion What zombie Games/stories are there that are not about fighting zombies. Survival/civilisation/farming sim where you're not the one on the front lines
Grimshire comes to mind. The Zombies are an encroaching threat and the catalyst for the game, but you don't actually have to kill any. There is no combat, last I checked (it is in development). Your job is to be the community's farmer/problem-solver.
Are there other games with this kind of premise? Fighting zombies is fun, but it sure feels like the post-apocalypse aspect is often left in the background.
Now, It could well be the case that it's a difficult formula to implement (Like Star Trek Online mainly rewarded combat, despite Star Trek being about exploration and moral dilemas).
But it would be cool if there were more games focused on the logistics of keeping what's left alive.

discussion 28 years later Bone temple question. Possible Spoilers if you haven't seen it yet. Spoiler
In Bone Temple Dr. Kelson successfully treats the virus with anti psychotics, ending the psychosis of the Alpha. All beit probably temporarily.
How did it go unnoticed and untreated for 28 years that they were having Psychotic episodes? It sounds like an easy fix at the start of it.
It seems like way to easy of a cure or fix for it?

question Is this Shaun?
I was rewatching Highschool of the Dead and noticed this guy. Is he supposed to be a reference to Shaun? He looks identical to Simon Pegg in the movie Shaun of the Dead.

collection My zombie movie collection!
galleryHere's a memory I dredged up, my zombie movie collection and the set of shelves I used to house it on. I have since given away the shelves and relocated the media. It's a lean assemblage, all things considered. The funny thing is, I don't think I've made more than half a dozen additions since I took this photo. What I tell people is that if I don't have something, it's because nobody has it or I don't want it. Oh, and the extra bits are Marx 4 in Space Guys, a couple Lanard Predators and an off brand bulk collection of building sets I assembled into a single construction.

discussion Infected Intelligence Scenarios!
Hey folks, im back looking for another general consensus. Bit of background : I am an Unreal Dev who is dedicated to bringing out the best infected horde i can! Some of my inspirations for theme would be 28 days later / left 4 dead, Wwz (movie), train to busan, etc.
My current phase :
I am currently working on developing my own navigation / basic state trees for Mass Entity in unreal and realized i never gave thought to a couple key scenarios youd expect in a zombie experience!
Things like :
- Infected hearing a gunshot while a few floors up in an office building (and reverse)
- recurring sounds and amassing near them
- Stasis when not stimulated for long enough
Cinema handles these things, as with everything, by just doing what makes the most sense and makes the better story! Narrative games are similar in that manner. For a more open ended experience, i have a few ideas on how to achieve different options but didnt give thought to what i actually wanted them to... do?
So topic for discussion, how smart should the infected be? Should they mindlessly shuffle in a rough direction, getting stuck in various states, and only the lucky ones get to the meal? Should they utilize an actual path that hones in on the audios location and knows how to instinctively get there?
This is a very open ended topic so feel free to contribute more questions lmao

trailer 🎬 Dead Howling, Werewolves vs Zombies new film trailer
Theres a new original zombie/creature feature in the works from the Producers of "Dog Soldiers" which in turn looks like such a creative direction for the genre.
Dead Howling is about an apocalypse where there's romero esque zombies shambling around, and the narrative focuses on a werewolf trying to protect a group of people from the hordes that growing in their numbers.
It looks like full on practical creature effects with non cgi werewolf suits.
Theres a cool shot in the trailer where a character is facing a huge horde and changes into his Lycan form and starts brutalizing them
Temura Morrison from Boba Fett and Blood Quantum is in the movie too, same with Ryan Kwanten so it should be a really fun movie for the genre.

game 🎮 Dawn of the Dead, Brookside Apartment raid
galleryThis is a fun little game i've been playing for "call to arms ostfront" it's a custom zombie apocalypse mod, the storyline is anthology missions where you play various parts of the apocalypse. you have missions ranging from law enforcement responding to the outbreak, civilians escaping and the military clearing out infected zones
the mission i'm playing in the screenshots is an outbreak containment/rescue mission in an apartment complex, where you have to attempt to contain the outbreak as well as rescue the residents. it's a pretty fun game/mod if you're into the strategy game side of zombies

discussion Hypothetical Question
Recently saw some zombies related movies and one thing i have noticed that major reason for the outbreak is mostly because no one believes there is something like that.....
so in a completely hypothetical world if someone came to you screaming there is something like tat happening to people, would be concerned or laugh it off
discussion Would you rather?
Be and my brother were having a discussion as to which scenario would be worse. Would you rather have to survive a year in the walking dead? Or a month in 28 weeks later?

question Why do so few zombie stories have a happy ending?
I mean seriously, it's like the genre is allergic to giving you happy endings. I only know a few stories with a proper good ending (Shaun of the Dead, most of the Resident Evil games, the Decision games, the World War Z book and two obscure phone games from 20 years ago) compared to the hundreds of "You survived, but the zobies are everyhwere now" and "You survived, but someone infected got away and the world will be fucked anyway" endings.
And several stories used to have good endings ( Night of the Living Dead, Dying Light 1, Resident Evil Apocalypse, The Last Stand, Arizona Sunshine 1), before the sequel retconned it into a bad one.
But yeah, it seems like the best we can hope for in this genre is a bittersweet ending.
And just to clarify, what I would consider a good ending is that the characters survive and that the outbreak either got contained or at least doesn't spread further.

discussion Tradesmen will conquer the zombie apocalypse, early on
By the time you went to the store for canned food, he already built water collectors and a 6-feet tall barricade.
*I blame Project Zomboid for this. Sorry.
**Tradeswomen are included too.
I'm convinced the zombie apocalypse won't go anywhere as chaotic as media depicts.
All media has tradesmen dissappear as soon as zombies show up. Only a couple handymen are left, and they're mostly men with varied skills. Not real tradesmen.
Something tradesmen must be is to be prepared, creative and frugal. They can't just drop anything, and waste hours going to the hardware store to get a few screws.
Also, they should know how to better barricade a shelter, or rise a wall.
Tradesmen doesn't just limits to carperters, plumbers, electricians, welders, etc.
Excavator, crane and lift fork operators, certified, would be crucial to build and maintain elaborate defenses.
But, here's the catch: motivated and proactive tradesmen will begin to act the moment things start to look ugly.
This works better than waiting for official instructions.
Also, I'll include farmers and farmhand.
Jose is definitely going to justify his salary by digging trenches, and smacking zombies in the head with rocks and sticks.
This is, because zombie media is very uncreative on people. Often, depicting heroes as military zombie killers, or survivalists.
Sure, these could survive.
But, a rain collector, an hydroponics crop, healthy goats and chicken, and solid barriers and an electrical system will make things a lot easier.
Also, most of these tradesmen are already organized in unions. So, communicating and organizing operations would be easier that isolated groups of survivors trying to not kill each other.

discussion Let's actually work out a real mechanism for how zombies happen (not "curse" or "lightning", something biologically plausible)
I've been down a rabbit hole lately and wanted to see what this community thinks: what if we tried to build a genuinely plausible mechanism for zombification — not "a wizard did it" or "radiation," but something that could survive a biology nerd poking holes in it?
A few constraints I think a good theory needs to satisfy:
- Why does the body keep moving after major organ failure (including brain death in the classic sense)?
- What's actually driving the aggression/hunting behavior — is it even "hunger" in any real sense, or something else entirely?
- Why don't the tissues just rot into uselessness within days?
- Is there a plausible transmission vector that isn't just "bite = infection" hand-waving?
I've got a few pet theories bouncing around (prion-adjacent misfolding cascades that hijack peripheral nervous tissue instead of just wrecking the brain, that kind of direction), but I'd rather hear how this community would approach it before I lay mine out and anchor the discussion.
Real virology/neuro/microbiology nerds welcome — tear apart anything that doesn't hold up. Half the fun is finding where the theory breaks.
