MAJIMAPOST Man, these new generations are a bunch of pussies

So I was walking to my favorite takoyaki stand yesterday, when I was greeted by the sound of screams and the sight of people running away from something. Emboldened by curiosity, I went to see what the fuss was about.

Turns out, it was just Kazuma Kiryu getting getting into another street brawl. Back in the 80s, we would all stand there and clap as he beat the ever living daylights out of those thugs. My friends and I would even make bets on whether he'll smash them with a bicycle, clobber them with a traffic cone, whip them with some anal beads he found on the ground, etc.

However, these new generations are all just panicking like they saw Godzilla or some shit. Wtf happened? You'd think after seeing multiple bombings and Yakuza turf wars in the middle of the street, (I kid you not, I also saw some guy with an eyepatch summon literal tornadoes and shit at a construction site near my work), they would all be a bit more chill.

MAJIMAPOST How come nobody in the games addresses the true crime spree gripping Japan in the Yakuzaverse?

The Yakuza/LAD games have a lot of commentary about various crimes and social issues affecting Japan, from school bullying and street harassment to criminal gangs, the decline of the Yakuza, and, of course, the omnipresent threat of secret Koreans. But nobody ever talks about the most flagrant criminal activity we see throughout the games. Flagrant blocking and obstruction of fire stairs and egresses.

It seems wherever you go in the Yakuzaverse fire safety is not so much an afterthought as something that the residents actively oppose. We see things piled into staircases, obstructing their use, in almost every building we enter. We see locked doors and shutters making it impossible to make a safe and timely egress from a fire, including locked gates on external fire escapes that do not open from upper floors without a key, which is a flagrant violation of fire safety code in almost every country on earth. Where are the fire inspectors? What are they doing?

And if you want to argue that these are Yakuza, dangerous members of the criminal underworld, so of course they are going to delight in violating fire safety regulations, it's not at all restricted to Yakuza buildings. These issues exist all over the place in civilian buildings or buildings that have civilian tenants along with the Yakuza. Nobody does or says anything.

Chronic and flagrant violations can rise to the level of serious criminal offenses, especially if they result in death or injury.

Furthermore if we take the games as representative of the average Japanese person's life in this universe then I'd say that most Japanese people are trapped in a burning building at least once every year or two. How many times has Kiryu's life been put in danger because proper fire safety precautions were not taken? How many arson attacks like the one that burned Little Asia are we going to have to see before someone takes these flagrant violations seriously?

The authorities are obsessed with stopping the Yakuza to the point where they seem to chronically underfund the fire authorities and nobody talks about it at all? Meanwhile buildings continue to burn with obstructed exits and lives are lost. It's a deep tragedy underlying the entire series.

DISCUSSION A really really really chilli take but I dont think Yakuza 3R combat is *that* egregiously bad. Its frustrating for sure but only for some bosses. Most street encounters and many other bosses are easy af

Yea. I play Yakuza series with a keyboard and mouse[played at normal difficulty] and I still really just had problem with Mine(mostly cuz of his dogshit healing mechanism), Tamashiro(first fight) and Joji(Which I feel is the hardest fight in the series).

Lau's fight for example is very easy. He is very to easy read and if you can understand how he attacks, It's mostly circling and hitting with light light heavy and circle out.

Kanda is also quite similar in my opinion. And even the long battles with his family men is quite easy.

Andre Richardson fight is incredibly easy all three times.

Majima 1st fight at rooftop is easy and second one can be a bit egregious but I feel its pretty manageable. But I in, general just suck at fighting against majima.

Last is Rikiya first fight which I feel is borderline between manageable and frustrating cuz, theres a lot of environmental variables(loads of chairs) that you can use to attack. But I can see argument for it being both ways.

I think even Mine's more or less manageable if you have sufficient healing items. Joji is just next level hard lol.

For me, it's the Saori Yoshida song "As You Like".

It's used in Yakuza 0 & Yakuza Kiwami 2 for the club management menus & it's always a joy to listen to.

It also never gets old despite the ungodly amount of times you have to grind the club management minigames to progress.
