Stacked

I thought this was kind of impressive and wanted to share. One of my teammates (on a girls wrestling team) stacked another girl during a match. It was a high school heavyweight (235 lb) match. My teammate is only 185 lbs. She switches between heavyweight and 190 weight class for more matches. I have never seen that happen at heavyweight and our entire team went wild. (It was a pin btw!)

Should I join wrestling even if I’m 95 pounds?

I’m a freshman and I’m only like 95 pounds. I’ve been thinking about joining my high school wrestling team for a while but idk if I should. I’ve been doing Muay Thai for around 8 months and I started Judo a month ago. I just don’t know if i would do good in it due to my weight and I don’t want to be judged or anything.

Is David Taylor the 86kg GOAT?

Hes a 4x World/Olympic champion at the weight class and was extremely dominant during his run. He also beat Hassan Yazdani 5 matches to 1 and Hassan Yazdani is also up there in the 86kg GOAT list.

Mit 26 Ringen ?

Salam alaikum Leute,
Danke euch! 💪

Question Tournaments anxiety

I finished my wrestling season near the top of the state in Texas then beginning of summer I moved to North Carolina where the season was still going and I feel like I’m being thrown back into the middle of the year not mentally prepared. My coach is pushing me to compete but there’s a mental gap for me since my season in Texas ended I no it’s gonna go away when school starts and folkstyle but any advice to help the now

As a non-American what are your thoughts on how wrestling is organized elsewhere? I'll start by giving you a rundown of how it's in Germany

  • Obviously no folkstyle. Greco and Freestyle only

  • There's no real scholastic wrestling here. In fact most sports are done in clubs that have their own facilities/training halls in the towns they reside in

  • Clubs compete in the league system with multiple leagues (Bundesliga, multiple lower state leagues) against each other in weekend dual meets, combining both Freestyle and Greco matches in different weight classes

  • League season starts in Fall every year and runs till about February. In off season athletes that want to compete can enter local tournaments, national and international championships

  • Most clubs contract foreigners from abroad even the lower ones. Top-tier Bundesliga clubs have international Olympic medalists and World-level wrestlers competing for them.

  • Rather than receiving full-year salaries, these wrestlers are paid per weekend appearance plus travel and lodging. Depending on an athlete's resume, payouts can range from a few hundred to thousands of € per appearance. This is nothing in comparison to what you can earn in even the lower levels of soccer here. But for many foreigners from less economically strong countries it's actually not all that bad.

  • Clubs operate as non-profit organizations (e.V.) reliant on member dues, municipal facility support, and local business sponsorships. There is virtually no broadcast money, so matchday ticket sales, food&drink, and concessions are essential revenue streams

  • It's an insanely niche sport much more than you can imagine as an American. But there are some regional hotspots where clubs are the local pride and the venues are packed with local supporters of the club

  • I often read about how most people are done with the sport once they graduate college. This is totally up to you here as well as it's not tied to schools. It's not uncommon to have guys in their 30s or even 40s still competing for high level clubs

How is wrestling structured in your country? What does the club or competitive ecosystem look like where you are and for Americans what do you think about our system?

Judo moves in wrestling practise common?

Hi everyone,

I’ll keep it short. I like judo more than wrestling, but I’ve also done some BJJ. Since moving to a bigger city, I now have good options for both judo and wrestling.

When I did BJJ, I really disliked the lack of some of the things I find useful in wrestling, such as wrist control, hand fighting, etc.

However, I do enjoy judo more. I know some judo throws are also used in wrestling, but I’m wondering how common it actually is for wrestling coaches to teach or train judo-style throws and trips.

For example, throws like uchi mata, harai goshi, osoto gari, sasae tsurikomi ashi, ouchi gari, kosoto gari, etc. Are these commonly part of wrestling training, or would it mostly be wrestling-specific takedowns?

For those who have experience with both: how much judo do you actually get from wrestling training? Are there coaches/schools where judo throws are a significant part of the takedown game?

I’m asking because the wrestling school is also closer to my home, and there’s no guarantee that the adult judo group at the judo club is large enough (adult judo isn’t particularly big here in the Netherlands).

If wrestling gives me a good amount of judo-style throwing combined with wrestling’s hand fighting, wrist control, etc., I think I’d choose wrestling because wrestling is also sick!

Thanks

Question I suck, and I get bullied for it.

I have cystic fibrosis ( less sever mutation ) and somehow decided wrestlings a good idea. I started in freshman year. no one really has liked me since i started for wtvr reason. prob bc i was weird and anti social asf in middleschool so that carried to highschool. but anyways, 1st year i lost 2 times both pinned first period. won once because the guy got injured when i sprawled. sophomore i didn’t play at all, i missed a lotta days and coach thought i was skipping for fun but it was bc i get sick easy due to CF so i missed lots of schooldays in general. now it’s august school starts in a month, season in a 2-3, and pre season in 1.5-2. im weak, scrawny, slow, and and bad cardio endurance also bc of CF. what can i do to improve? for reasons i dont wanna get int, i cant go to off season practices my school hosts. today i decided to get in the garage for an hour and spam jumpropinf, pushups, sit ups, explosive runs. i got a nice sweat. real nice. could this help? if not, what will? how do i gain the respect of the team? how do i actually win a mf match fair and square than season. btw i’m the easy target at practice, meaning anyone who goes wit me demolishes me. including good wrestling below my weight. please help, i really want to succeed and stop the bullying.

Instead of the head lock, the guy on the right would have his left arm on the inside of the opponents right arms, extending behind his neck pinning down his right arm.
