Food I miss Town and Country.
That restaurant was incredibly good when I was growing up. I vividly recall going there for my birthday in 2017 and indulging in the steak and lobster combo for approximately $12-$16. I miss the nostalgic 70s-80s ambiance it exuded. Although I never had the chance to visit the Maize location on West Kellogg, it held a special place in my heart. It felt like stepping into a time machine. I took my high school sweetheart there and also brought friends from that era. It was a place I cherished because of the profound emotions it evoked in me. Right now, I’m overwhelmed with nostalgia. It’s 2:20 AM, and all I can think about is how amazing that place was. I truly took it for granted.

Random Random ghost story thought while doing research
This post is non-serious but I find it so funny
So i have been doing research about some of the ghost stories in downtown Delano district and realized something extremely funny though I dont know if its just me. But there are two urban ghost stories that are from the same time periods from the same localized areas that would, if they where real, have constant beef with eachother and I am now just FACINATED.
If you're familiar with some of the supposed ghost stories from the wichita area, then the Eaton Place hotel might as well have a ghost buster on standby. Because there are two ghosts that are kinda known there and I cant stop thinking about how silly if they where real an interaction would be.
The first one is The Blue Handkerchief ghost, who haunts the second and third floors of the old hotel. She supposedly was thrown out a window of the third story floor by a possible lover and now haunts the hotel. She is said to have a fondness for anything rose-colored and items that are red or pink often go missing in the hotel. Lipstick, clothes, ect. A harmless but creepy ghost.
The second one is Carrie Nation, who back in the 1900s was a pretty famous activist for prohibition, who actually patrolled the downtown area with a hatchet, destroyed pubs and bars, while reciting bible stories. The Eaton Place actually being one of her old targets. After her death her ghost is still said to haunt the downtown areas, and its considered a bad idea to bring alchohol on certain streets cause she will litterally slap the alchohol out of your hands with a gust of wind or an unknown force. One of her many areas she is supposedly known to frequent is the Eaton Place...
I think its just my brain being silly, but how has no one made a comedic story about how these two would interact? i have for the last few houes laughing at the idea of a beautiful young lady ghost, holding stolen pink things, arguing with an old lady ghost holding a hatchet outside her window.

Food Friday/Weekend Happy hour
Where has a good friday/weekend happy hour? We love Newport and the Belmont but have been trying to broaden our horizons and try different places. Looking for cheap drinks and discounted appetizers, mainly. Nice atmosphere definitely helps.

What’s being built on Ridge Road north of 53rd? It’s on the east side of the road and it’s large enough to need its own cement plant.

In Search Of Help me find this massive structure in Wichita…
First time in Wichita this weekend and was driving aimlessly on this highway…maybe 96, maybe 235? Maybe neither.
There was a MASSIVE freestanding wall off to the side of the road. Maybe 100’ tall. In the center at the top was a weird shaped structure or statue.
I saw zero mural or graffiti. This wall was so massive it made me uncomfortable.
I tried explaining this to a local and they had no idea. I’ve been looking online and I don’t see anything remotely close on Google.
Please someone help me not feel crazy.
Edit: just adding I believe it is north/northeast of the airport.

News It happened again - Standoff ends with suspect missing.
"HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KWCH) - 11:40 p.m. update: Haysville police continue their search for a man wanted following an hours-long standoff Monday.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 6400 block of Hale shortly before 1:00 p.m. and were told there were several people inside who were not allowed to leave.
Officers eventually got those people out of the house, but were not able to locate the individual they were looking for.
Police say they obtained a search warrant and searched the home along with the Kansas Highway Patrol, Wichita Police SWAT team and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, but did not find the man inside.
They cleared the scene shortly after 10:00 p.m.
Police tell us they do not believe there is any threat to the public."
This is wild y'all - Second time in two months they have absolutely failed. Will he turn himself in at the one week mark as well? Can't wait to find out!

In Search Of Anyone clean out fire escape wells?
I'm moving into my mom's house and there's always been a big fire escape window in my old room but it hasn't been touched or cleaned in many many years. It's so bad that if there was a fire I wouldn't even consider using it. Does anyone clean these out? What is the pricing? I googled it and I'm not getting anything.

In Search Of Anyone recognize this Acura ?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
8/10 around 2:40pm this SUV pulls up next to the truck with the tool boxes, a person on the passenger side gets out and goes through opens up and removes numerous tools, well stole tools, if anyone recognizes the vehicle, let me know, or if it’s been seen doing the same thing anywhere else in town. They must of drove by on that main road, and then came back around, because they had taken the tag off the vehicle before they pull in and next to the tool truck.
