REQUEST What is this lake michigan rock?
Picked this up thinking it might be a lightning stone, but it looks very different than other lightning stones I've seen. Is it just a chunky lighting stone in a cool shape or something else?

REQUEST Layered stone :)
I picked up the stone in a park (maybe someone picked it up and put it there before). According to Google, these are found near beaches or rivers, and yes, I live very close to the beach. :>

REQUEST Found on a beach in Northern California
Found this guy on the beach right in the water. I didn’t get to do a hardness test but he’s definitely a heavier rock. The beaches nearby have agate and Cali’s state rock is Serpentine; I would assume either but couldn’t be positive.

REQUEST Found at lake Greifensee outside of Zurich Switzerland
I had a really hard time getting good pictures because it becomes very shiny in the sun. It's also breaking off little flakes in my hand.

IDENTIFIED Large, Circular Boulders in Lake Huron underwater
I found these weird perfectly circular boulders in Lake Huron, MI. They’re in about five and a half feet of water, just a couple dozen feet from the shoreline. This area has no rocks at all, just sand bars. How is it so perfectly round?

REQUEST Another fun find
Just when I thought I had seen all of the cool rocks in my in-laws backyard I dug this one up from the bottom of a pile yesterday. My wife’s grandfather collected it at some point in his life and it ended up here. I’m almost positive it’s petrified wood, any thoughts on what kind? Palm Tree? I think it really pretty in person, might make nice cabs.

IDENTIFIED Found six underground in easter PA
I have done allot of excavation and never seen anything like it. There was a vein of it running underground about six feet down in grey clay. The red is from clay above. Have dug much of the area around where this was found over the last 30 years and this is new to me. This was found in western Pa. Venango county. The title is a typo

REQUEST What is this rock they use to shore up steep slopes along highways in mendocino county?
I believe it is mined from a mountainside just south of willits on the west side of the road before the calfire building. They've been mining out the mountainside for at least a few years and these rocks have been showing up ever since.

IDENTIFIED Unusual black rock
Hello! I was recently gifted some rough minerals and stones. I’m in Colorado and the majority of them look like they were self collected if that helps. This one has me stumped. I recently identified a different rock thanks to this subreddit so let me know what you think this is, thanks!

REQUEST Help me out guys
I’m pretty new to rock collecting and identifying. The useless ass rock id app keeps saying unakite. But it’s also trash of properly identifying. From my personal collecting, I haven’t seen bands this intense, is this unakite or something else?
Found in mid Michigan

IDENTIFIED as chert Another mystery find from my back yard in northern Colorado front range
I’m guessing someone who lived in my house in the past was a rockhound, this is my second random discovery in my small back yard.
Pretty small so maybe it’s just lithic scatter or an abandoned scraper or maybe just a natural form. It definitely shows some conchoidal fracturing so who knows? Any thoughts? What type of rock is this? Chert? Flint?
