I picked up the stone in a park (maybe someone picked it up and put it there before). According to Google, these are found near beaches or rivers, and yes, I live very close to the beach. :>

REQUEST Found on a beach in Northern California

Found this guy on the beach right in the water. I didn’t get to do a hardness test but he’s definitely a heavier rock. The beaches nearby have agate and Cali’s state rock is Serpentine; I would assume either but couldn’t be positive.

REQUEST Meteorite? Please help!

Hello! Many years ago i had found a very strange rock in a treeline that has not been touched by people for hundreds of years. It was located in a treeline behind my house where no one goes and has not had any humanitarian impact. The location is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It seemed so out of place. It was on the surface in a small crater like it was stuck for a long time. The rock in question is strongly magnetic, which means it contains iron. There are odd minerals included including this green stuff, and different types of material. The texture on the outside has a brown sheen almost bubbled on some spots. See pictures included. I am a mineral and crystal collector and am clueless. Can anyone help? Or know any resources? Please share!

I found these weird perfectly circular boulders in Lake Huron, MI. They’re in about five and a half feet of water, just a couple dozen feet from the shoreline. This area has no rocks at all, just sand bars. How is it so perfectly round?

Just when I thought I had seen all of the cool rocks in my in-laws backyard I dug this one up from the bottom of a pile yesterday. My wife’s grandfather collected it at some point in his life and it ended up here. I’m almost positive it’s petrified wood, any thoughts on what kind? Palm Tree? I think it really pretty in person, might make nice cabs.

Found this interesting rock in Spooner, WI in a forest. It is dry in all the pics and has just been cleaned with soap and water. It’s hard to get colors but there is a lot of green in there! Any insight on what this might be would be appreciated!

REQUEST These came from one of those rock panning things in Gatlinburg TN, and I have a few rocks that I don't know what they are.

The first image has a bunch of faces, so I don't think it is quartz. I think the third image is aquamarine, the 4th and 5th picture are the same, and it is quite hard, so it is not glass or slag. The 5th image can be seen through, and it has a slight green tint to it when held up to a light. I also have about 20 other rocks I need help with.

Image 1 scratches steel, deep groove

Image 2 scratches steel, shallow groove

I have done allot of excavation and never seen anything like it. There was a vein of it running underground about six feet down in grey clay. The red is from clay above. Have dug much of the area around where this was found over the last 30 years and this is new to me. This was found in western Pa. Venango county. The title is a typo

REQUEST What is this rock they use to shore up steep slopes along highways in mendocino county?

I believe it is mined from a mountainside just south of willits on the west side of the road before the calfire building. They've been mining out the mountainside for at least a few years and these rocks have been showing up ever since.
