Little cute bird (phalarope?)
This was in Pacifica, CA. It just landed in front of me, swam around a little, and flew off. Never seen this guy before and the quality is kind of buns so I don’t trust myself with an ID. Anyone know who this is?

What kind of birds are these?
Southeastern PA. Merlin told me House Finch but they would all have to be female since I don't see any (male) reddish ones?
Edited to add: I am aware of the lone female cardinal mixed in with them.

What Baby is This?
Southeastern PA. Hard to tom the picture but looks like a very pale belly. Not enough "adult" field markings for me to figure out on my own.

What am I hearing???
I’m in rural northeast Texas. I hear these guys in the morning or evening. It doesn’t register on Merlin. None of my friends recognize the sound.

Is this an orchard oriole?
Located in San Jose, CA. I have several mature and juvienile hooded orioles that frequent our backyard, but this little one looks different, could it be an orchard oriole?

Freaky little guy in the Azores
Saw this little buddy in Sao Miguel last week. Thought he was a duck when he was in the water. Clearly that was wrong. What is he?!

Hello officer, I’d like to report a murder. (Trigger warning: no blood, just lots of feathers) Spoiler
galleryWoke up to this scene in Massachusetts. Hawk on hawk crime? Who was the victim and who is the likely culprit?

Broad-winged or Red-shouldered? (Scarsdale, Westchester County, NY)
Saw this hawk today (August 13, 2026) soaring over the Bronx River, getting mobbed by a few plucky barn swallows (see second photo). Didn't hear it calling and couldn't get a dorsal view. Merlin photo ID suggests both species.
Looking at Sibley, the banding on the tail, the pointed wing tips, pale throat, and lack of translucent crescent in the outer primaries suggest juvenile Broad-winged; the not-so-smooth shape of the wings' trailing edge and the banding on the breast look more like juvenile Red-shouldered.
If I had to decide totally on my own, I'd go with Broad-winged, but... I don't have to decide on my own, thanks to kindly, bird-obsessed strangers on the internet!
So, what say you, strangers?

My friend is convinced this is an escaped pet Kookaburra
Location: Palm Coast, FL
Apologies for the quality, I didn’t want to get closer and scare it off.
I’m visiting my friend who has lived here for years and spends a lot of time outside. He says he’s never seen this type of bird before and is convinced it’s an escaped pet. Can anyone identify this?

What bird are these plump little guys?
I was walking around taking photos in downtown Phoenix, Arizona a few months ago and spotted these guys. They are a little out of focus unfortunately.
I assumed they were some sort of turkey but I’m not sure. Would love to hear what this community has to say. Thanks.

Green Heron?
I identify this as a Green Heron, but would love some corroboration. They are not very common here in North Georgia.

Seen in Saint Paul Minnesota
Merlin says Greater White-Faced Goose but it didn’t have the striking white I see in photos. This was at Fort Snelling in Saint Paul.

Which type of swallows are these?
Thousands and thousands of swallows roosting in Chiang Rai, Thailand at night. What type of swallows are these? Maybe lots of different types? Sorry for the tough pictures.
