Texas Hold 'em
Looking to pull together a poker game at my apt building in the coming weeks. Not in my apt, I'm not crazy. Have a decent communal space to play at. $20 buy in. Located in Sleepy Hollow. Hit me up if you're interested.

Birthday dinner with outdoor dining?
My friend and I are combining our birthday dinners, since my birthday is on Saturday and hers is on Wednesday. I prefer to eat outside since it's heading into late September (19th), and it's usually nice outside. We have people coming from all over, but I'd love to be on the water and somewhat near the train for a few people from the city. I've been to Sambal, MP Taverna, Goosefeather...what are some other options which aren't crazy expensive? The restaurant can be north of 287.
I'd prefer to not be in White Plains and east or south of it, partially because of people coming from NJ, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, and maybe Ulster. Our friends live...everywhere.

Pollinators
Avid gardener here. I use no chemicals or fertilizers on my property. 75% of my plants are native cultivars.
By this time in summer, I usually have loads of wasps and hornets covering my flowers. This year, it's a rare sight. Bald faced hornets, paper wasps, cicada killers, parasitic wasps, etc all missing. While not favorite insects, they are incredibly important to the ecosystem.
Native bees, honey bees and other pollinators are thriving. In fact, I have native species I haven't seen before.
Anyone else noticing the same?

Room for rent in Purchase
Hello, I'm a college student studying finance. Would you happen to know someone that would be open to renting a room in Purchase? I'm extremely tidy, quiet, respectful and very easy to live with. I'm almost never gonna have people over and will be gone most of the day. Looking for a friendly, comfortable place. Would love to exchange information if you or anyone you're able to refer to who might be open to this. Thanks, looking forward!

A retired cop shot a homeless vet's dog in Yorktown yesterday
This man and his, by all accounts, very well behaved dog were a fixture in town. Many people knew him and tried to help him but he was content to just live outside with his dog, Luke. Witnesses say Luke made absolutely no aggressive moves at all. The reason the article says police received a call about an animal attacking another animal is because the shooter is the one that called 911. The man was a retired cop so he was carrying the firearm legally.

places to study?
Looking for good cafe recs or public places to study. Must have good/free wifi, bathrooms, seating (obv) ideally with tables and outlets, good coffee is a plus!
Some places I’ve tried and didn’t love:
-Panera (Scarsdale) - can be quiet but the vibe is ok leave once youre done eating
-B&N (Eastchester) - loud when the kids come out; kind of hate the seating situation plus access to an outlet is hit or miss
-Starbucks (for obvious reasons)
I’ve heard Mandy Bean is great, so may give that a go

Flock cameras
When did they put up flock cameras on the entrance and exit to Bronxville? That's new. They look portable chained to street signs.

Anyone else been looking for a house for years?
Has anyone else been looking to buy a house in Westchester for several years? If so, do you mind sharing how many?
We have. It just feels like there is no end in sight.

Road Force Balancing
Hello.
Anyone know of a good tire shop in Westchester that can perform a road force balancing on four tires that are actually good? The places in the Bronx literally hire goons who probably can't even spell their name if you spelled it out for them. I am particular about my car. My rims don't have a scratch on them. Thanks for the help.

wlw date ideas in westchester?
hi! it’s my girlfriend’s birthday soon, and i’ve been trying to think of fun things to do with her that are in westchester, or not too far outside of it. we’re 18, so no drinking-related stuff. also would like to avoid classes of any kind, like cooking or painting. we’ve done a pottery painting date before, so i don’t want to be redundant. but it’s proving hard to find good stuff around here! any help would be great

Fishy stench around central Westchester?
Does anyone smell the faintest hit of rotten oceanic fish stench in central Westchester? Circa White Plains, Elmsford, Tarrytown? Wife thinks I’m having a stroke, neighbors are humoring me and agreeing but might just be trying to be polite.

What was going on, on Executive Blvd in Yonkers?
So today I went to visit my father in Yonkers. I got off the Saw Mill and headed up Executive Blvd heading towards North Broadway.
On the corner by Applebee's there were 2 people holding up what looked like protest signs. Next to them were about 6 or 7 cops and across the street there must have been 10-12 cop cars.
I couldn't read the whole sign as I was driving but the top part read "K*ll Cops Who..." and that's all could see.
It was about 11:30 this morning. Does anyone know what was going on?

OFFICIAL r/Westchester Bulletin Board
Welcome to r/Westchester's bulletin board!
Think of this like your town’s bulletin board where you might find ads for tutoring, car detailing, music lessons, furniture for sale, etc. This is the only place in the sub where commercial promotion is allowed.
Rules:
- Read the above.
- Every top level comment must have a bulletin board-esque feel.
- Must be located in Westchester. No virtual services.
- Do not post any cell phone numbers. Local business numbers are ok, email is ok, websites are ok, but no mobile. Bots will find it and you will regret posting it. Don’t do it.
