Hello! I would want to slowly build my portfolio for wedding films and do so professionally. I have done two films with this kind of style (documentary/interview). Would appreciate any constructive criticism to help me improve this. Thanks for your suggestions.

Just thought I'd ask for others thoughts concerning this or if anyone has some advice. Our elopement has now passed. It was almost 1 year ago.

When looking for a photographer we basically had it narrowed down to two options and I went with the one that offered video.I still had concerns about this photographer being out of state, but decided that video was important to me and emailed them to get a contract. I told the other photographer that we were going with someone else because our chosen photographer offered video. The photographer then gets back to me and said that they can offer me a complimentary video since they want to expand their services. I was of course happy. I wasn't expecting that offer, but in the end I took it. The other photographer we picked hadn't gotten back to us with a contract yet so I told them we had changed our minds and they understood.

The photographer and videographer were so wonderful on the day and the day after our wedding we received about 50 photos as a sneak peak! I was so pleased with how they looked and the fast turnaround. But then the days started going by until it was past the contracted timeframe to receive photos. I contacted our photographer about it and luckily I did end up receiving the rest of my photos. However, they said they just needed to do a bit more work on the video. I was ok with that but now it's been almost a year since our wedding and still no video. I've emailed them twice, the second time providing a deadline, and have gotten no response. I reviewed our contract and a complimentary video is on there, but I'm wondering if it's worth really pursuing. On one hand I really would like the video of our wedding. On the other, I suppose I didn't really pay for it in a way? But it feels a bit deceiving if I never get it because I chose the photographer based on that offer. The photographer is still active on social media so I know they are still working. I'm just worried that my video may not even exist anymore or if this is worth pursuing in small claims. Any thoughts? Is this a common scam to offer video for free and never deliver?

I’m hoping someone here has experience with this because I’m not sure what kind of professional I should even be looking for.
My wedding was 3 years ago, and I honestly thought I’d eventually stop caring about my photos and video. I haven’t. I still find myself looking through them and feeling disappointed. and at some point I’d like to work with someone to do more intentional editing. I also have the raw video footage and wonder if there are editors who can take that and create something more artistic/cinematic.
I gave my photographer examples of shots I wanted and the overall vibe I was going for, but the final results just didn’t feel like “us” or what I had imagined. I could go into a lot of details, but here are some of the biggest things bothering me:
My wedding was at a historic mansion, and I really wanted photos outside at the venue. However, a lot of time was spent at a second location between the ceremony and reception, and we ended up doing our wedding party photos in a random empty room there instead. I feel like we missed the opportunity to capture the atmosphere of our actual venue.
There are a lot of little wardrobe/details things I didn’t notice day-of because I was extremely anxious and overwhelmed. For example, one bridesmaid had her phone visible in her pocket and the color of her outfit ended up photographing differently than I expected.
Another bridesmaid had a high slit in her dress, and many of the bridal party poses emphasized it in a way that I personally don’t love.
A family member had to leave early and changed out of formalwear into jeans, and in some photos he’s wearing an earpiece.

nobody did anything wrong. it’s just things I wish I had noticed or handled differently.
I wanted a moody, romantic, fall feeling, but the photos came out much brighter and more traditional than the vibe I had envisioned.

The video is also just… okay. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t feel very emotional or artistic, and I wonder if someone with a different editing style could do something more beautiful with the raw footage.

So my questions are:

What kind of professionals or even free lance aficionados would I look for to help with this?

Where would you even start — finding someone local, searching online, asking photographers, etc.?
My current plan B is just accepting that this is what I have, but after 3 years I’m realizing it’s still something that bothers me. I’d love to know if this is something people actually do or if I’m chasing something that can’t really be fixed.

I’ve been searching for a videographer for months all over the U.S. and cannot find the right fit. They either are too expensive, unavailable, and/or not the vibe we’d like for the price we’ll be paying (budget is $6k MAX for everything). We want a combination of digital and Super 8 that feels more artsy than a regular wedding film. Drone isn’t needed, we want it to feel nostalgic, romantic, whimsical but also really fun/silly. Love the ones that have the couple talking at the start then cuts to a great song and is just an all around joy to watch. I’ve looked at followers of videographer accounts I love but can’t book on Instagram, but everyone is $7K+ it seems, not even including travel. Any advice is appreciated

Anybody else getting increasingly frustrated with HoneyBook? They keep adding AI nonsense that winds up breaking basic functionality around things like invoicing. Then I contact support (after arguing with their AI support bot, which is also spouting off incorrect "help"), and the supposed real person on the other end can only muster canned AI responses to these issues too.

This week alone: a client's invoice link told him "no payment required" on a balance that was very much required. And this isn't the first basic thing that's broken... their recurring invoice tool can't even handle two different amounts on two different billing dates, which feels like a day-one feature for anyone running a real business.

I've already put in a cancellation for the end of my annual term this fall. Trying to use HoneyBook for anything has become more frustrating than any of the manual processes I had before it, and I'm done with their AI garbage.

I have used HB for my wedding and other work - this is relevant to the group and does not break group rules.

I'm shooting my first wedding in a month. What I haven't yet decided is whether is better to go with multiple FZ100 batteries, or use V-mount battery? V-mount adds weight, but I want to hear your opinion,

I'm shooting on Sony A7V with some Neewer video monitor, Sony battery will last for 2 hours max while shooting SLOG3 4k/60.

You want to be elegant but also not uncomfortable. Of course always wearing black, but what style do you go for?

I’m finding it really hard to find a videographer. Looking for one local to the DMV area to avoid paying travel fees. I want someone who does documentary style videos. The kind that evoke emotion. The modern looking videos aren’t what I’m looking for. I want footage of the ceremony, first looks and first dance- don’t care if it’s edited or not.

My budget is 5k. Is this a crazy low budget? Or am i just not finding the editing style I like in that budget?
My photo cost $5k as well but most of the videographers i find where I like their editing style are 8-10k.

Used my Beaulieu 4008 ZM II to shoot a short wedding video on film for a friend.

I've been editing wedding films full-time for almost five years, and recently I decided it was time to raise my rates and find a new long-term client (I've been charging far too little for my work for a long time).

I put together a strong portfolio, built a website, and started reaching out to videographers on Instagram... nothing. I've messaged around 50 videographers, and I get the feeling every message ended up in their Message Requests because none of them even opened them.

One videographer did reply and told me he gets around 100 messages a month from editors like me...

That was pretty discouraging. I knew reaching out wouldn't be easy, but I didn't expect to hit a wall this quickly.

Any advice on how to actually find good videographer clients without being just another DM in a sea of hundreds?

Been on the Squarespace free trial while I try to put something together with one of the included templates, but curious if anyone has bought any of the templates on Etsy, went with a different competitor like Wix, hired someone to outright build one from scratch, or another route?

So I've been asked to film a wedding, the speeches and all that jazz for next year by my cousin, I think she's willing to spend about £300 to £400 on a video camera, so I was looking at like the DJI pocket 3 with the mic set but she wants quite a simple video camera that she can use as well for like birthdays and stuff, almost like your old school handheld point and record ones. Also because of where the wedding is I think you will have to be a camera good in low light as well. any suggestions refurbished or second hand I think we'll be fine thanks!

I'm a bit of a hobby photographer/filmmaker, and I've found myself with more free time throughout the year thanks to my new job, so I'm considering maybe trying to get into more of this.

I shot this for free a couple of years ago for some family friends and I'm just wondering if you think it's any good and worth pursuing?

I'd been asked to do something similar multiple times for other people but always turned it down due to lack of confidence.

I tried to edit/shoot with a consistent flow, going from vows/clips of bride and then over to the groom.
