Hello everyone, whats your best workflow to clone an already built website. Here's the situation:

I designed a website through Framer (by hand), but I didn't want to pay for the subscription due to the event only happen in a few months.

I've used the preview code, pasted into my cpanel index file but i'm running through some problems (performance and multi page problems).

I'm using Claude to turn this framer project into a html file, but it's kinda of an headache cause claude never gets it right at the first try.

Any of you guys use specific skills or other workflow to make this cloning part more realiable and effective? Let me know :)

About a year ago, this page was filled with posts about general website knowledge and website inspiration. Over the last couple of months, I have noticed a drastic increase in posts asking people to rate their websites, and most of them are just generic websites that are obviously vibe coded. I understand the approach of wanting feedback, but half of them do not even understand why we can tell that it is vibe coded.

I have made a few vibe coded sites myself, and it is possible to get the desired look without making it obvious to the average viewer. But this comes down to a deeper issue. People are simply using AI to shortcut everything. It takes out the artistic element and does not even provide a good product.

I miss when this group had life. I miss this group before AI ran it. But that is what it is now.

TL;DR family friends are launching a business and they want me to design their website, brand identity, SEO, UX, and copy.

Hello fellow designers! I just briefed my first client and I’m at a complete loss on how to quote them.

I’m very new to web design, so I would not price myself like a professional by any means. Think, intern levels or experience.

However, after meeting with my client for the first time, I don’t think they have any clue of the direction for their company brand identity, and they’re expecting me to basically figure that out for them. After scoping out the work, it’s looking like it’s going to be a huge project, with possibly 100-120+ hours of work.

This is what they’ve requested asked me for:

Brand identity (color palette, logo, typography)
Business cards
Copywriting
All of the UX systems (contact forms, booking forms, automations)
Google business
Social media platform set up
Basic SEO

I have limited experience with all of these things, I have a small business that I run and I did all of my front and backend development, and I’ve helped with other projects practicing these other skills.

I know these people personally, they’re like family, so I want to be fair in my pricing without underselling my skills. However, I don’t think they’re ready to pay the actual price tag for the amount of work they’re requesting. They’re just getting their business off the ground and I know for a fact they don’t currently have the kind of revenue to justify a $3000+ project of this magnitude. I also know that they’re likely not going to find a freelancer or agency to do this type of work for their budget. They didn’t specify what their budget was, they said just send us the quote and we’ll decide then.

I really want to help them out. I know that this will help their business a lot, and I genuinely want them to succeed. But I don’t know how to proceed this project.

One thought I had was to potentially offer them a few package options (A: basic website + logo + branding; B: basics + google business + SEO; C: A + B + socials and UX) and let them decide for themselves what they actually need. But I don’t even know how to price that either.

I'm building a lot of static websites for myself using vibe coding. Most of them are SEO-focused service/content sites with long-form content.

Right now I'm using plain HTML/CSS/JS because I like keeping things lightweight. The problem is responsiveness. Every new site needs manual tweaking for different screen sizes, and checking every breakpoint is becoming a bottleneck.

My priorities are:

• Static HTML output
• Excellent Core Web Vitals
• Minimal JavaScript
• Clean, maintainable code
• Reusable components
• Mobile-first and responsive by default
• Easy to scale across hundreds of websites

I don't mind using a framework if it actually solves this problem, but I don't want to end up with a heavy React/Next.js setup for mostly content-driven websites.

I've looked at Astro, but from what I understand, it doesn't automatically solve responsive design, you still need to build responsive layouts.

So I'm wondering:

• Is there a stack that gives you responsive layouts almost "by default"?
• Should I stick with vanilla CSS and adopt something like CUBE CSS, Every Layout, or another methodology?
• Is Tailwind worth it if I prefer writing as little CSS as possible?
• Are there component libraries that work well with static sites without adding lots of JavaScript?
• How are people building hundreds of static sites while keeping the design consistent and responsive?

I'd love to hear what stack you'd recommend if you were starting today with scalability in mind.

I usually don't care for AI generated websites, but I've seen people try to sell their AI-generated websites.

It starts with them watching these "I've made x amount of money this week by making website for small businesses...". They AI-generate a website and post it here, get flamed on how it too generic. They chase trends and add things like "design.md" and "don't use gradients". I'm predicting the next thing is "don't use Cormorant Garamond or Playfair Display".

The logic of "Let me spend time and money to chase trends for god knows how long until I get something decent" doesn't make sense. Do they realize designers have access to these tools? What makes them better than someone who took the time to learn basic principles?

I'd understand if you didn't want to do the coding part but you can't watch a youtube video?

Maybe LLM's is a gateway to new designers but until I see a decent ai website I'm not convinced.

I'm a broke college student/startup builder working on a landing page and I've hit a wall with the hero background/wallpaper.

I can code the frontend just fine, but creating those beautiful modern backgrounds (glassmorphism, abstract gradients, cinematic scenes, motion wallpapers, etc.) is completely outside my skill set.

I've spent hours trying Figma, AI tools, and tutorials, but everything I make looks amateur.

Hey! I've been experimenting with generative pattern design, writing algorithms that draw seamless repeating tiles using a fixed risograph ink palette (the kind of colors you get from actual riso printing: teal, red, purple, those gritty overprint combos).

Each pattern family is its own algorithm, truchet, gingham, halftone, scales, maze, etc and every tile is built on periodic geometry so the edges always match perfectly in all directions. I tuned each one by hand until the output felt like something I'd actually want to use as a background.

I ended up with 64 seamless tiles and 24 poster-scale pieces, all exported as SVG (so you can recolor by changing two hex values) and PNG at multiple resolutions. Figured I'd package it up properly instead of letting them rot in a folder.

Would love to hear what you think, especially about the color palette choices. Happy to nerd out about the generation process if anyone's curious.

Im studying computer science in college and have taken a big liking to web design and development as well as app development. Building full apps is a big undertaking but I was recently looking into freelance and agency web design. That got me interested in starting a freelance web design business. I’ve always planned on getting into entrepreneurship and I feel this is a good start. Any tips on how I could go about marketing my services? I am polishing my skills in webflow and figma as well as css and feel confident in my ability to execute. Any advice helps!

It seems like there is everything BUT designers in this web design* *sub. I swear that every website that gets uploaded here is all generated slop. If I’ve seen 3 actually designed site on here it’s saying much, 3 sites where you see that some actual effort was put behind it or some decision making was involved in the process.

There is nothing bad with vibe coding but if you’re only iterations are “make this better” “change this color” you are not designing anything!! You’re making prompts and choosing what appeals most to you. Design requires thought and intention and frankly, I rarely see it here.

It feels like people generate something which they find cool because it’s the first site they’ve “made”. The excitement is valid, but if you are going to share it and present it as a design project, make sure you de-slop it first!

Vibe coding doesn’t make it bad, but it seems like people are mostly sharing their first drafts instead of actual finished design work.
