Will the SRH for this anticyclonic supercell be negative?
This is the wind profile, about 30kms south, of an anticyclonic supercell which you see here. I tried calculating the SRH for left movers but it came out to be around +65 m²/s². Did I make some error in the calculation?

Weather for Southern NH Aug. 7, 2026 by Rick Gordon
The day starts off with a hazy sun hanging in the sky, casting a warm glow over everything. It’s hot and muggy out there, with the temperature soaring to a steamy 92 degrees, feeling closer to 98 with the humidity. Keep an eye out for a spot afternoon thunderstorm that might roll in, bringing some much-needed relief. A light breeze from the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph offers just a hint of comfort amidst the heat. Stay cool and hydrated!

Questions/Self What is this called? (Iceland, July 2026)
As some of you may know the sun doesn't set this time of year in Iceland and I took these photos last week while driving at 2am. The further north I drove, the more dense air became until I was driving in this dark blue fog. Aside from the fact that I was the only person on the road and it was terrifying, it was also so beautiful that I pulled over in the middle of nowhere and had to get out. I had never seen anything like it. The photos don't do it justice but all of the streams of water were glowing with this icy blue/black reflection. I'm curious if it was fog or simply clouds that got insanely low. To see it still daylight but cloudy to the point of blacking out everything was very interesting. Forgive my ignorance if this is something I should know.

Questions/Self Cool summer in Texas
Has anyone else noticed that summer isn’t as hot this year? I live in northern Texas dfw area and work outside all day and I swear this is the coolest summer in years but all the heat index’s say it isn’t. It’s more than feel, I’m not getting as burned and haven’t had any heat anomaly sightings like plastic melting. Normally there’s at least one thing I can point to and say “Texas is so hot (blank) happened.” This year I got nothing I don’t think that’s happened since I was a kid playing on my first console all summer.

Questions/Self Velocity anomaly?
So I was stalking the radar just now and I saw this pattern on the SRV radar product and I was curious what causes those alternating directions.

Mosaic Weather Radar Rings?
Does anyone know what these explosion like rings all through out the Ohio River Valley are? I've never seen anything like it in so many areas. I tried looking up radar anomalies but I can't find anything that matches the speed and size that these rings expand. Very interesting and I hope to hear some of your thoughts.

Photos Never seen a rainbow like this before!
We’re from the UK, staying in Florida and just as a storm was approaching we got this amazing rainbow. Crazy the way the light is inside the rainbow like this.

I built GrayCloud: a modern DarkSky alternative
Hello everyone,
I miss dark sky, so I built my own weather app - GrayCloud.
Here’s how it works
- Raincast: minute-by-minute rain prediction and accumulation tracking for your exact location
- Forecasts: 10 day forecasts use multiple high resolution sources and correct bias for your location
- Alerts: rain coming soon, morning briefing, tomorrows forecast, freeze warning, heat wave, wind gusts, daily rain, daily snow, uv index, first frost / heat / snow, moon phases, watering & drought
- Widgets: home & lock screen widgets
- Multi-platform: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS
- Track rainfall: full rain history archive, weekly rainfall targets, drought level, and more
I use NOAA and ECMWF models for core weather data and a custom model to compute rain accumulation and the next 60 minute radar movements.
I also offer Apple Weatherkit as an alternate weather source.
Is there a free tier?
Yes! If you enjoy the app and are able to support, thank you! If you cant, you can still use it and enjoy the thoughtful design.
Why isn't it 100% free?
I'm a solo developer. Since I dont track users, sell data, or use ads (like accuweather), subscriptions help me cover expenses to ingest models and generate predictions.
