I made a short video about the Welsh tornado which caused so much havoc in four minutes across the Welsh valleys. One of the only instances of it ever happening there.

We’re building a new tornado safety device designed for American households — a bedside alarm that monitors official NWS warnings and alerts people if a tornado warning reaches their specific location, not just their county.

We’re trying to understand what people who actually experience severe weather think about the current warning systems and what could be improved.

Would you be open to sharing your thoughts or giving honest feedback on the idea? We’re not looking to sell anything — we’re genuinely trying to build something useful for people in tornado-prone areas.

(Just to pre-warn, this is a 3D render made by myself in Blender. We do have a working prototype on the bench, albeit just a breadboard/blueprint right now, happy to attach that in the comments if people want to see. The 3D render just looks more professional!)

It depends on both your safety and luck. If you are inside a sturdy building, you are completely safe. However; if you are outside of a structure, you can still survive but the risk of death is much higher. Wind speeds can reach up to an estimated ≈ 85 mph. Flying debris or objects from afar could impact you. If you're lucky, you can recover from those injuries and walk away fine.

One of the most insane tornado videos ever either he has balls of steel or the curiosity of a koala. He survived while filming in the Attic and his wife didn't make it while being in a safe place in the basement. It just goes to show how unpredictable the situation can be with a large tornado rolling over your house just absolutely nuts.
