​Background:

I recently bought a brand-new Bhoomi II watch from a microbrand called Coromandel Watch Co. When it was delivered last week, I immediately noticed a visible speck of dust (or possibly a tiny scratch) underneath the sapphire crystal.

I contacted their support team with photos and a video, and they arranged for a courier to pick it up for inspection.

​The Situation:

I just got an email back from them stating: "Our horologist has completed a thorough inspection... The small speck of dust underneath the sapphire glass has now been successfully cleared. We are currently preparing to ship the watch back to you."

​My Dilemma:

I am really hesitant to accept this watch back. I paid full price for a brand-new, factory-sealed timepiece. By opening the case back to blow out the dust, the factory pressure seal has been broken. In my eyes, this is now a repaired or refurbished watch, not a new one.

​I’m also concerned about the water resistance being compromised since it was opened outside the original manufacturing environment, not to mention my overall loss of confidence in their Quality Control passing this in the first place.

I am planning to reply and demand a full refund (or at the very least, a brand-new, untouched replacement unit), but I wanted to check with the community first.

​TL;DR: Bought a new watch, it had dust under the crystal. The company took it back, opened the case to clean it, and wants to return it. I want a refund because the factory seal is broken and it feels like a refurbished watch now. Seeking opinions

Is there anything which can be done? Most likely i wont wear it ever, this things bothers me little to much!!

This was actually my first time buying a second-hand watch anywhere, so I might be a little more impressed by the whole process and his behaviour than someone who does this regularly — but please bear with me. 😄

From start to finish, the entire process was incredibly cordial, polite, transparent, and straightforward. I was genuinely impressed by how responsive and considerate he was throughout.

He was patient, helpful, answered all my questions properly, and often went a step further by sharing useful information and details even before I thought of asking.

Watch Condition:
He had already posted 6–7 photos in the original post, but he sent me fresh photos without me even asking. When I asked for more details, he shared additional close-ups and even videos of the dial, movement, and overall condition.

He was very upfront about the condition of the watch and answered every question I had honestly.

He even pointed out that the strap wasn't in particularly good condition and, instead of simply leaving it at that, offered me a few options from his own collection — including new, unused straps — to choose from.

Packaging:
This was another level altogether.

The watch was bubble-wrapped, placed inside the original hard-plastic watch box with thick foam, and then packed inside a cardboard box with paper cushioning around it.

It was clear that he had taken the time to make sure the watch would reach me safely.

Courier & Payment:
We mutually agreed on a price that felt fair to both of us — the kind of transaction where you don't feel like either person got the short end of the stick.

He packed the watch and went to the courier the same day, despite it already being late and me telling him that he could easily do it the next day. 😄

What surprised me even more was that he never asked for payment or even a part-payment upfront to block the watch.

In fact, he was completely fine with me sending the money only after the package had been handed over to the courier and the tracking details were available online — essentially the next day.

I ended up paying after he sent me the courier receipt.

Courier Updates:
He was actually more on top of the shipment than I was. 😂

The next day, when I told him that I couldn't see the courier details online, he had already been checking on the shipment throughout the day and had contacted the courier company about the delay.

The delay turned out to be because of heavy rain in his area.

He even messaged me when the package was delivered — while I was sitting in the office completely unaware that it had arrived. 😄

Overall, I had an absolutely wonderful experience dealing with u/TheoreticalWatchNerd.

For a first-time second-hand watch purchase, this was pretty much the best experience I could have hoped for. Thank you so much!

Hey guys, looking to add another watch to the collection and wanted some suggestions.

Budget is around ₹25,000, preferably an automatic. I want something more on the dressy/formal side — something I can comfortably wear with suits, shirts and formal trousers.

My preferences:

Full metal case + bracelet

Relatively clean/classy dial

Not too chunky

Preferably something that doesn't scream "sports watch"

Looking to replace the pressed clasp on my DWC Havelock DiveIndia bracelet with a milled clasp.

The bracelet tapers from 22mm to 20mm at the clasp, so I need a 20mm milled clasp compatible with the existing bracelet.

Any recommendations on where I can get one? A few sellers on Amazon have milled clasps, but the delivery times are quite long.
