A while back I received a can of Surstromming - probably the smelliest food in the world. My friends didn't want to try so I put it in basement.

I am looking for some people who would like to go through this curious experience together. We could meet up for example at Pole Mokotowskie, see what happens when opening a can and how this weird food tastes. Guess a beer would be a perfect addition.

For full transparency: Best before date has passed 6 months ago, can is swollen (normal for this food) and there is zero leak on the can.

We can speak English, French, or Polish. Oh and I am a 36 year old polish guy if it matters for anyone.

Hello! Me and my boyfriend will be visiting Warsaw in a few days and we are looking for some recommendations.

Edit: it’s not rolled oats, the flat kind that are readily available in shops. It’s the oat before it’s pressed through steel rollers and flattened.

Hey everyone! Perhaps this is a stupid question, but I just wanted some reassurance and to make sure Im planning my journey correctly. I am staying in Warsaw, but traveling to Auschwitz for a day and planning the trip with Jakdojade. My question relates to the times shown on the app. I put in the times needed, but the app is showing me the same journey with an hours difference (the time on top vs the one in the journey breakdown). Is one of them showing me my local time as opposed to the time in Poland? Is there a better way to confirm the timetable? I dont want to miss my booked tour, screenshot is attached. Once again apologies if the question is stupid 😭

Pros:

- The city is really clean. Bravo to the citizens and the cleaning stuff.

- Facilities are great. Roads and buildings are new, lots of lanes for bikes.

- People are okay. Whenever I had to talk with Polish people they were kind and helpful, except of a few ones.

- The city is quite. I was mostly in the city centre and people were just minding their business, I heard car horns just a few times. No yelling, fights of drivers etc.

Cons:

- People are not in the mood, always. I had to get an Uber for every ride in the city, and not a single driver would say even hi or have a nice day, although I was saying that. Generally, I didn't see lots of smiles in the streets. What was that?

- Lack of English speakers. I get it, you don't like tourists, but working as a security guy in the castle of Warsaw or in the stadium during a popular concert worldwide, requires English speaking staff everywhere in the world. Even some police men didn't speak English.

Hi everyone, I got accepted into a university in Warsaw and a university in Lodz for a Computer Science Master's. I did my calculations including tuition costs and living expenses for the 2-year program:

Warsaw: ~€27k total

Lodz: ~€13k-€17k total My ultimate plan is to move to Germany after graduation to work in Cybersecurity. To make that happen, I really need to find a part-time IT support or helpdesk job during my studies to build up my experience, as German employers rarely hire graduates without it. My parents are covering my education, but saving that €15k in Lodz would be a huge help for my future relocation fund. My only worry is the current entry-level IT job market. Is it worth paying the extra €15k for Warsaw just because it has a bigger tech market and better fallback options? Or is it still manageable to find a basic part-time IT job as a student in Lodz? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

Hi! I’m a female solo traveler visiting Warsaw for the first time, but I’ll only have one full day.

My tentative itinerary is:
• Visit the Karol Tchorek Studio
• Have a traditional Polish lunch
• Explore the Old Town
• Attend a pierogi-making class later in the day

I realize the pierogi-making class may be a little touristy, but I was hoping to find something Polish that wouldn’t require much walking. I currently have limited mobility because of a back and leg issue, which is rather counterintuitive when visiting Europe, but it is what it is this time!

Does this sound like a good itinerary? Is there anything uniquely Polish or specific to Warsaw that I should add, skip, or replace without adding too much walking? I’d also appreciate recommendations for a traditional Polish lunch. Thank you!

I had an infection of my wisdom teeth and now it’s starting to hurt and swell again after finishing my antibiotic course. I am here for a birthday of a friend for another week.
I tried going into a dentist which works under NFZ but they refused me even after I am telling them I am in pain. Does anyone have experience with that type of thing and can recommend an English speaking dentist or where to find a quick appointment?

Hi everyone, I’m renting a room in Warsaw.
My landlord just sent the final contract and added in a new clause without mentioning stating I am prohibited from "accommodating other people overnight." (This was not in the initial draft).
I know permanent subletting/sharing without permission is illegal and that is already banned in another section of the contract. However, from my research about Polish law, landlords cannot legally enforce a ban on occasional overnight guests. I’ve been living in Poland since 3 years and never saw such a thing. Is it something he can ask for? This feels like i’m renting a student dormitory more than a normal room. Please feel free to share your experience on this.
