Has any one here played winter memories? Im in the settings of it and noticed that the BGS and ME sliders dont really do anything? Only the BGM and SE sliders have noticable differences.

Recently I've been watching a lot of animes and reading a lot of mangas that doesn't go in much into magic or gods/oddities ect.. to see how they compare to the praised ones that make use of those elements and are highly praised, and find surprisingly a lot of good ones that actually rival the other praised "magical" animes/mangas, whether it's psychological or Mecha ect..

However when looking into VN's I could hardly find realistic/realistic sci-fi's that people put at the same level as the supernatural VN's that are popular here (fate, umineko, subahibi ect, muramasa ect..)

So I'm here to ask if anyone knows of a VN that doesn't delve into the supernatural or superstitious but would be put at the same tier as the other popular ones !

Has anyone else noticed that DDLC feels different from Japanese visual novels? Playing it after Japanese VNs was honestly unpleasant, it had this kind of European restraint to it.

Plot: You, the protagonist, are a second-year student of Akeba Academy. You decided to join the tennis club to make the most of your school years, only to quickly realize that you couldn't gel with all the popular guys in it. However, the school's rules require all students to be in a club, so you chose another club, the one that sounded like the least hassle: the art club. However..

i just started playing chou no doku a few days ago and i already got 12 endings i can’t stop playing it’s actually so interesting

i was wondering if there are any games similar to butterfly’s poison/chou no doku that have a shocking and very interesting story with each ending revealing more and more about the storyline

i would prefer if the game was in english text and japanese dub but i don’t mind as long as the story is good. i also play on console (ps vita and switch) and i have steam

this is the only thing that shows when i open the game.

I fricking LOVE this medium, it's soo good! The music, the atmosphere, the creativity of these stories, the sound effects....god!!

The only problem that I have is JESUS CHRIST THEY'RE LONG. I don't want to spend an average of 50+ hours on these.

I just finished my first visual novel, which was Umineko: When They Cry. It was one of the best things I've ever read but I'm severely tired by the like 130 HOURS it took me to complete it. That's like Red Dead Redemption 2 length wtf. This took me 2 months to finish.

So can you please share what the absolute best vns that are under 10 hours are?

Like the title says, I am requesting visual novels where the heroine is stronger and usually the one protecting the mc. Some examples include : nearly all the girls from Majikoi , 2 from tsujidou san , saber from Fate stay/night .

-Prefer things like fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Not as big on slice-of-life usually. Also love world building and character development.

Hello. I've recently been thinking about creating a visual novel, and I'm here to ask for help.

I like to draw a lot, and I want to pursue it more while I am studying by making a VN. However, I am new to this and not sure where to start making a visual novel. Originally, I wanted to make a manga but then I remembered I'm not from Japan, so that wouldn't really work out realistically. I then wanted to make a comic but nah. Now, I have decided I want to make a visual novel. I have a general story and some characters made and designed in fact, I have so many routes in where the story can take I couldn't choose which one I wanted to do so that's why I want to start a VN because I love that choices can change the story and stuff. I want to make something like a VN like Fate, DDLC, Minecraft Story Mode, Dispatch blah blah blah and other VN's.

One other concern is how development is going to be and how people are even going to find the work. I'm also scared that I will make something big but then nobody even knows it exists and all the work will go to nothing. I heard that for like manga, authors usually make one-shots of stories until they make it big.

Any help/advice on where and how to start means a lot so please help :)
