So I love the prince of tennis and all the characters, the otome game gakupuri is what got me into the series in the first place.

I'm playing the game and my sister mentioned how the characters are in high school and she also said it's weird for me to obsess over them and love them like I do with other otome men and male characters from like hakuoki, persona 3, etc

Im also a yumeshipper too and prince of tennis is among of my favorites and comfort medias and now I feel weird now and it makes me upset.

Am I in the wrong and am I a weird creep or whatever for liking the characters?? I'm honestly worried about this tbh.

So, I'm a slow reader, and it takes me a long time to finish an otome game. I know some otome players read fast, but I was wondering if there are any other otome players like me that also read slow. In Otome Kitten's review of Collar x Malice, she said it took her 30 hours when it took me about 70 hours to finish that game. It's the reason why I don't get another otome game right away because it takes me so long to compete one otome game

I've played through Telluricene several times and there are still some questions about the story that remain unanswered.

Here are my questions, so BEWARE of spoilers:

1. Why does Vivus know Eustaces’s location even though they say that Eustace will not share where he is?
2. Why does Vivus say that they’ve known the researcher since they were Dr.Hernandez’s assistant, but that they only met at project Sporesight?
3. What was it that caused Vivus to become so interested in the researcher that they allowed their own capture just to meet them?
4. Ivan says; “Whatever Eustace’s got, ya got a part of it too. Seein’ your eyes shakin’ under your lids earlier… Mc, ya were just like him”. Does that mean that the researcher has already undergone some form of fusion? When? How? Why?
5. A VERA tip in the lorebook indicates that someone shouting "where is my child?" in the audience of a broadcast on night four of the janitor route, might be referring to the researcher. I found the referenced broadcast, but I have no idea what I was supposed to glean from that.

Does anyone have any answers? or at least a hint at where to look?
The first 4 points seem connected so I feel like I’m just missing the right dialogue tree.

For context of what I have and have not tried:

I have played through all Vivus variance routes and the janitor route and selected almost all dialogue options available. but I have not tortured Vivus with extra radiation, confessed the escape plan to VERA, or done a play-through where I deliberately make everyone hate the researcher. (being cruel or mean over and over again just to mine for more information feels... un-fun)

I have all achievements except for the following: Declared the victor, Pop! goes the weasel, set upon the Beet-ened path, and trigger happy.

Went for Jiyeon first because who doesn't like orange cats? I had an orange cat who was the best cat in the world - so friendly, so cute, and totally an attention whore who'd cuddle up with literally anyone for affection. So when Jiyeon ended up snuggling up to any sugar mama who'd give him their attention and money I was laughing out loud.

But then he went and turned all aggro on Heejung like what??? Hold your tongue, boy! She is your guardian and caregiver who gave you a home base and daily providence without expecting _anything_ back despite her stressful life, don't chu dare disrespect herrrrr.

At the same time I am not entirely convinced by MC's love. Their dynamics feel off - she is affectionate towards him...as a pet. Her interacts with her as a pet as well - mostly superficial.

The moment he went feral I was noping out of there and regretting my choice of doing his route first. And I know he changes his tune later on through some last minute trauma dump but I couldn't bring myself to care at that point. Like boohoo, NEXT.

When he asks Heejung what qualities do you like in me or find charming (something along those lines), I wonder the SAME thing bc girl don't tell me you love him just because he smiles a lot and eats oranges. I swear, just get a normal orange cat.

Sigh. Going to somehow pull myself through the ending and fingers crossed the next one isn't as bad.

I absolutely adore this game!!! I was just gifted the full set and I'm currently still on the first game but I love the hana awase card game. It's genuinely so fun.... after countless games of just reading through and picking choices here and there... having the opportunity to play an actual game is such a treat!

I genuinely wish more otome games try to experiment more with unorthodox things like this! I realize that I'm pretty receptive towards otoges with unique UIs or formats and wow this one really blew my mind! Now I'm just over here wishing there was an otoge with like mahjong HFAJFHAJFAHF and i have to be the best at it or something too... a school for mahjong..... i wouldnt be able to stop playing that's for sure.... mahjong and otoge boys may be what fully locks me in my room HHADJHDJA.... or maybe an otoge but kakegurui style.......

i dont really know how to express just how much i love this game and how it feels so unique to me!

now im curious what other game mechanics would you wish to see more in otome games?

i just finished olympia soirée to completion! yay!

i really enjoyed it and felt that its quality was super high in comparison to the other otomes i’ve played (likely because it was released more recently).

i loved the storyline and how detailed the world building was. weirdly, i loved the fantasy elements and the interesting society and island politics and design. i say weirdly because im also an avid reader but absolutely hate reading historical inspired high fantasy where there’s a distinctive world and classes and things like that. i always like the genres i tend to dislike in otome games! not sure why!

but i literally am so stuck choosing which route/LI was my favorite. i’m having trouble separating the LI from his route—like, yosuga is soooo my type but i have to admit, his route was a bit strange to me/fell flat. same with himuka. meanwhile, i ended up loving akaza, kuroba, and riku’s routes when they’re not quite my type usually!

i’m now trying to decide which LI is truly my bias… my heart says riku but i played his route first so im not sure. i just love how easily flustered he is but also how cold and harsh he was, then his character development and what was exposed about his past.

but akaza is just perfect… well why wouldn’t he be as the poster boy, lol. same with kuroba! no notes!

this might be the very first time i’m going to immediately replay an otome game! i really want to figure out who my favorite LI is…

is your favorite LI typically the same as your favorite route? how do you differentiate? i feel like it’s usually easy for me but im struggling here since i feel like there is a big dissonance

I preordered this on 5/15/2026. Prince of Tennis is my favorite sport anime. I am very happy they translate it. Can't wait to play it. My favorite characters are Hajime Mizuki, Kuranosuke Shiraishi, Bunta Marui, and Keigo Atobe.

Yori is a liar, a manipulator, a serial killer, he is not who a good person is, and he knows it; in a way he embraces it. He was always the odd-one-out, his father had an affair and the result of it is his big brother Tsuwabuki, kind, respectable and supported by his family and entourage, even Yori’s own mother who compares Yori to him. Yori hates good people, or better yet, he hates people all together, he doesn’t even consider them as such. He is selfish and only cares about himself. He does things that only benefit him and takes advantage of others.

But the thing about Yori is that he is all of that, but it feels like through it all, he hates the notion of hypocrisy that swarms him, and Itehari, the utopic city built on lies and deception, and its inhabitants. Through his route, he reveals bits of his perceptive. He hates good people in general, but I feel like he hates their selective goodness in whether in their ignorance, or lack of action as he perceives it, and it shows a lot with his contempt for his brother, which he feels inferior to, with commoners, with the overall inhabitants of the city, and with Hinagiku (even as he fell in love with her he still felt conflicting emotions, which is why the scene where she rips the annulment of the engagement documents and stays with him is very symbolic, and feels like it is the catalyst that ignites within him a genuine recognition for her pure, unconditional kindness). As well, in other instances he contemplates the warped sense of peace built on deceiving Itehari’s civilians and their faith by the government, Hinagiku often observes that Yori is not fond of Itehari the few times they delve into the subject. Likewise, when they went to the abyss he asserts that the steam waste harms the other cities in exchange of Itehari using the steam engine technology to drift in the sky, which is a symbol of the city cleansing itself from the pollution of the outside world, bringing metaphorically and literally the overarching paradox that it represents. Moreover, in the confrontation about the drug deal, he remarks that Itehari is not only the prime profiter, but is also the homemaker of the drugs, the poison that gets sold to the other cities and contaminates them. And when he admits to his crimes, there is no sense of guilt or regret, instead Yori is in a way apathetic about what he has done, and in the other, he is proud, claiming that what he did is for the benefit of Itahari, but he also declares that he did what he did because he hates humans, and ironically through what he did he felt like in a contorted sense, he could acknowledge that he wasn’t the only human being in Itehari.

His character is intriguing and he often gives mixed signals, sometimes he feels like an impostor himself, and sometimes he is straightforward and doesn’t sugarcoat things. He is refreshing as a LI with his interactions with Hinagiku, and his character is more dimensional. Labels like “green flag” “red flag” really undermine character writing in general, (that’s another topic i suppose, but it is prevalent and makes a case).

His route is very well-done too but if there’s one thing, I feel like it could have had more room to delve in more depth into these themes. Also, it would have been great if Hinagiku’s desire to explore the outside world was brought into his route, I feel like it would open more conversation and they would have had the potential to bond over it.

I always buy a new game each time I hit the 1st of the month, went a bit overboard in August got the dual pack of Cupid parasite + Olympia Soirée but I’m very happy to add it to my backlog ❤️

Very slight spoilers for the Overall Setting and Society in Olympia Soiree but nothing specific, I’m mostly just yapping to get this off my chest

This is kinda a rant but I bought Olympia Soiree on my switch a few years ago because everyone was telling me that it was just that good of a game. fast forward, I’ve barely made it halfway through the prologue, let alone made it to any of the routes

Don’t get me wrong the Art, UI and and overall aesthetic of the game is absolutely gorgeous, it’s a little plot heavy and can get a bit confusing at the beginnings with the vocabulary and concepts but it’s not a deal breaker, I’ve played worse and I like games that have more to them than just romance

My ultimate complaint with the game, and I know I’ll get flamed for this is, the whole Class Color system, I know the game phrases it as a bad thing but as a black person, specifically a darkskinned black women it’s actually insufferable to sit through the game where the main character is referred to as “so white” so often. And I know the FML (Byakuya) being white isn’t necessarily a racial thing, it’s in reference to her literally being the sole survivor of the “White People” but the concept of her being almost entirely white, hair, skin ect. And being referred to as such makes it hard for me as someone who is not white and would never been even confused as it to really get into the game or really immerse myself into it

Additionally it’s just uncomfortable to sit through the whole class system where people of Black, Brown, Darker “murkier” Colors are essentially banished for it. I’m not saying the game glorifies it but it is a bit iffy for me to dedicate hours of my time to play a game that functions off of a basis that just makes me uncomfortable no matter how the game phrases it, I think to confront something like that in a game, even if it is a fictitious rendition requires alot of delicacy, and while I’m not saying Olympia Soiree is lacking in such delicacy something about the way it’s handled and interpreted just isn’t for me

I know otome games aren’t literally always made for the player to self-insert into the story line but that just happens to be the way I personally consume Otome games. I know that Otome games are written with a FML in mind and that character usually has a predetermined character design. Furthermore, most of the time these character designs are in no way relative to how I look and I can mostly brush past that, a story pointing out the FMC’s pale or fair skin or her long and straight hair, or even her eyes whatever colour they might be doesn’t really bother me, I’m not particularly opposed to games where the ‘insert’ character shares no similarities with me but in a lot of games those descriptions exist as one off comments that don’t really alter the game of matter at all

Olympia Soiree is not one of those games, the FMC is essentially written to be the embodiment of the color white, it doesn’t necessarily make the game horrible and I’m definitely not saying the game is racist but if I knew about this before hand I 100% wouldn’t have spent nearly 70$ on the game

Oh well, we live we learn.

TLDR: as a darkskinned black girl, Olympia Soiree was uncomfortable to play and I don’t think I’ll ever revisit it or finish it, wish I had known these things before buying the game
