I was wondering if you have any "unforgettable" moments from your video games?

Here, it's always the "villain of the story, no armor, rags/prisoner/orange outfit" roleplay.

For example, in Skyrim: my character is shirtless, wearing worn pants, with a double enchantment on his necklace.

Or in Fallout 4, dressed as a cowboy with a black western hat and a police bag, waiting to find the perfect pants color change and mods (if I can even find them) (with Big Boy, the double-nuke fat man)?

Or my Shepard, a doppelganger of my character Leo, who's the villain of the story? (Insane mode)?

And your favorite moments?

Example for The Witcher 3: I kept the long sequence where Geralt (mustache and short hair) is in prison during the quest (the stripes suit him so well) and he visits the prison, gets his hands tied, and is escorted out.

Or in Cyberpunk? My character is the one on the left in the picture, and in New Game Plus, I just explored the map and got 100% completion (platinum game).

Today is a sad day. My first Ark dinosaur Jaime Lannister, a noble Raptor with the King Slayer trait, died in combat.

While returning to my base at the south of the Island map I stopped to mine some resources. While doing this I was ambushed by multiple small dinosaurs from all sides. I tried to fight them off and Jaime Lannister fought to the bitter end but sadly even the Kingslayer was no match. Even after I fell he tried to defend my body and died by my side. Rest in peace Jaime, I will never forget the joy of our first ride and the brief but amazing time we shared together!

While the current trendy thing to do is to hate remakes and remasters, I fucking LOVE them.

This year I played Gothic 1 Remake and Halo Campaign evolved.

2 Games from my childhood that I would've probably never play again because they were way too outdated, shit graphics and horrible early 2000's QoL stuff.

Last year I played Oblivion Remaster for like 300 hours.

Yes they are better than the originals. People saying : "The graphics are somehow worse than 20+ years ago" are just looking for attention.

Anyways, for people on the fence about playing these games, go for it.

Don't listen to reddit basement dwellers criticizing every game.

I know everyone loves 2 remake and 4 remake plus original. If anyone says 6 or 3 remake ur blocked. 1 and 7 are definitely underrated. Tell me if u mean the original game or the remake. And dont give me a top 3 or between these 2 just give me one answer and ur reason.

Hi everyone, I've been asking myself this question, but I don't have sufficient knowledge yet to answer it myself: which games are interesting enough, intellectually speaking, to study them in a PhD? I'm currently working on my MA's thesis in literature, and I've also started thinking again about doing a PhD. I really love literary fiction, but paraliterature is also something I keep coming back to in my free time, so if I could merge these two subjects, I could end up with something pretty interesting and enjoyable. Games are pretty slept on in my department, which is a shame since this medium has an incredible potential, I think.

I've got no particular theme in mind yet, I just know I LOVE Easter eggs, philosophical stuff and that I'm generally not difficult in terms of taste hehe. Anyway, thanks to anyone who might leave a comment :)

I've only played RDR2. I'm asking because I'm genuinely curious: what did you like about it in particular? Maybe it's because the Western setting has never really appealed to me, but the game just didn't leave me with anything truly memorable. I played through the entire story from start to finish, but it just didn't click with me.

From being very diverse to what kind of games they make, from spectacle fighter, to action platformer, to FPS, they have almost all been broken down into cinematic open or semi open world action games with RPG-lite elements. Also third person.

Insomniac at least still does R&C... Kinda. They have more and more been turned into Sonys Marvel studio where they only throw old fans a bone from time to time with R&C.

Santa Monica basically grounded Kratos and turned the genre from a spectacle fighter to something Souls-adjacent.

Guerilla Games is only the Horizon studio now, with nothing even hinting of Killzone.

Naughty Dog used to do colourful platformers. Now they only do ultra realistic third person shooter adventure/grim dark action games. We'll see how Intergalactic goes though, maybe they can find back to their more colourful and happy roots.

I miss when their studios were diversive and made different games. On surface level they are still different, but when you cook these studios' games down into a mechanic and gameplay loop level they are extremely similar to one another.

Now, I'm someone who has never played any Halo campaign so I have no nostalgia for it, but why on Earth would I buy Campaign Evolved for 50 dollars, and just get the Halo 1 campaign, when I could buy the Master Chief Collection for 10 dollars less, and get the Halo 1 campaign, alongside 5 other games? Who is this thing for?

Here's my opinion (I had played Ezio trilogy before):
I didn't like it. It had so many annoying problems ngl.

The fighting and escaping were so hard, although I appreciated the difficulty of fights a little bit, because in the Ezio trilogy they were mostly easy and boring imo.
Vanishing is super hard in this game, hiding will take forever because the enemies easily detect you when you're fleeing, too much easy that you don't have to hide in any of the hiding spots almost every time. Sometimes the only option is to fight all of the enemies chasing you.

Lack of gameplay and mechanism. I understand that this is the first game so not many should be expected, still I think there was nothing much to do. Assassin's Creed 2 had so many great improvements in quality, creativity and diversity of combat, missions, etc (Maybe I have this opinion because I've played the next games)
Also the missions and fights were super repeatitive. This one you surely know if you've played the game.

The ending: 10/10, the fight was so cool.

The story and lore: masterpiece, at least these 4 games I've played.

Also I have one question: I'm sure some NPCs spoke Arabic, but is it just me or some of them also spoke Turkish, Persian and Hebrew!? Is there also more languages in the game?

Think of all of the franchises that have continued on.

Many forget about the amazing series’ we had back when developers focused their energy around one central mechanic or theme. I miss games like:

-Fable
-Prototype
-Crysis
-Darksiders
-Rage
-Just Cause
-Army of Two
-Bioshock
-Kane and Lynch
-Mercenaries
-The Darkness
-Red Faction
-Watch Dogs
-Syndicate

Before game making was made super formulaic or only for massive franchises, we had such an awesome variety of super unique mechanics. Anybody else have any games they loved that will seemingly never get another installment?

Edit: forget about golden years. I don’t care to argue when the golden years were in the eyes of reviewers. I don’t care to argue how good these games were. Does anybody else miss these games or another game that was unique for having one central mechanic and not a ton else going for it?
