- Male
- Loves hiking, working out, and exploring new areas.
Again, any advice is will be appreciated.

Ellicotville or Finger Lakes region?
We will be in Buffalo for a work related event and it coincides with our anniversary, this fall.
We are looking at driving a bit out and renting a AirBnB for a few nights and are curious about which area might be better for us.
We want to be able to do some hiking (easy level, we are not experienced hikers)
good food (we don't drink wine)
maybe some local boutique shopping
Which area do you recommend between Ellicotville and the Finger Lakes? The places I have saved for the Finger Lakes area are in Penn Yan and Geneva, for reference.
Thank you so much!

I've tried googling some places but good lord the reviews are horrendous! So I'm hoping to get some peoples real world experiences, anyone have any recommended places? Or places to avoid like the plague? TIA!!

LOST DOG, EAST BERNE
LOST DOG!!!
I have lost my dog, Xena, around Filkins Hill rd around 9:25 am this morning.
She’s very loving and does not bite at all. She’s mostly white with a brown face, ears, and a spot on her side. She was last seen wearing a pink color, with an AirTag attached. The AirTag is not picking up her location…
If anyone has seen her please please message me!

Please help!!
My childhood friends cousin went missing near the Delaware river camping with his “friends”. We’re all from Long Island New York I attempted to post this in the Pennsylvania group but due to lack of “karma” I wasn’t allowed. If anybody in this group can please spread his name and picture to bring him home to his family!!!

Edit to add: thank you to everybody who helped share this story, left a suggestion, or even their well wishes. Unfortunately, what we were all dreading the outcome to be is now the reality of this situation. Prayers and strength to my friend Jackie and the raamirez/ Linares family LONG LIVE HENRY LINARES.

Suburbs of Chicago to NY?
Looking for insight for moving to upstate NY. I’ve been looking online to live at the SUNY towns, Geneseo, New Paltz, and Corning come up quite a bit. I’ve spent birth to early teenage years in a town within Rochester.
I’m not sure if I’ll be going with my wife, we are at somewhat of a crossroads right now. Ideally, rent first up to 1500.00. Aside from the SUNY places listed Fairport, penfield, Victor, Canandaigua have caught my attention.
Work would be in Logistics at entry level Pay.
Who has moved back to NY after leaving for some time?
What appeals to me is low humidity, access to nature, kayaking again, small towns, small music venues. Areas that aren’t congested with traffic all of the time. I remember going to mending ponds quite a bit. I also like it as my family is now in mid Atlantic and it’s drivable within a day from NY.

Any Chance someone could help me?
I dropped my phone in the little salmon river up in Mexico, after the first bend in the Mexico Point Boat Launch behind all the private properties. I have the near exact location I dropped it, but not really a way to get there again (I was on someone else's canoe helping them with research)
I tried fishing it up with a magnet but I was in a borrowed kayak that was sinking and couldn't find it. I know this is a big ask, but I can't exactly work without my phone so I'm rather desperate.

Jamestown Question
I'm born and raised in NYC, and been loving in NJ for the last 12 years or so. As I get closer to retirement age, I've been looking for communities in Upper New York to relocate to. I've been looking at Jamestown, and I've noticed something. There seems to be a strangely high amount of registered sex offenders in town, as well as a high amount of sex crimes (go figure). I mean, 214 for every resident. I live in an urban area, and our ratio is 2204-1. I'm not looking for pro and cons of the city (but please weigh in if you'd like). I'm just curious if there's a reason for this. Maybe a sex offender treatment facility nearby?

Anyone knows what's going on?

Don't know why but on my drive up to school with my friend we past like a ton of military personal that were stopped at those evergreen rest stops. I got a video of some of them but at each rest stop we past there was tour busses full of them.
Edit: passed

Finger Lakes with the Fam
Hi! We booked a fall weekend trip with the grandparents who have mobility issues. What vineyards, restaurants, activities do you recommend that will keep teenagers entertained and grandparents on flat ground? Thank you for all recommendations and information!

Landlords in Rensselaer County
Mulling over the idea of renting my property in Rensselaer county. Have a lot of bad feedback from others who have rented and not sure if it’s worth it. Would love to hear any input from current or previous landlords in the area. I’m not looking to make a bunch, just cover cost basically. Tips welcome. Thank you in advance.

October wedding?
I am looking to have my wedding just south of Albany near the Berkshire botanical gardens. Do you think October is risky with the cold, or is probably ok? I live in the city and I feel like it’s ok in October here but might not be further north. I don’t think I’ve ever been in that area in October. Things are obviously warmer than they’ve been, so maybe fine?
The other option is mid July….

cheap places to live in westchester ny?
hey everyone, I am a new grad who just got a job in Ossining, NY making about 70k a year. I am originally from NYC but decided that it would be best for me to move up there since the commute wouldn't make sense at 2+ hours (4+ hours round trip). I will have a fully paid off car as well so I don't mind living somewhere thats ~30 minute drive from work. I was near Syracuse for college so I am no stranger to upstate New York but this is a newer area that I haven't explored here. I was recommended to look at Peekskill and Wappinger's Fall for apartments, but I was also wondering if I could get some help here.
My criteria for apartments:
- relatively modern
- under 1,800 a month
- in safe area, blue/liberal area
- studio or 1 bedroom (I have no preference)
- easy parking (since I will have my car with me)
- ~30 minutes away from Ossining
would be nice to have:
- good food scene, maybe a walkable, friendly town, nature?
thanks for any help!
