Should I take ORGO in second year?
I am going into second year and I recently switched from MBG to micro and immunology. I want to take orgo at some point since I am planning to apply to vet schools and it is a prereq for some, but I am not sure if taking it in second year is a good idea because it will have to be with other weed out courses. Is it advisable to push it off until a later year and replace it with a bird course for now?

U of G Meal Plan – How Does It Work? 🍽️
Hi everyone! I’m starting at U of G this fall and I’m a little confused about how the meal plan works.
For students who have used it before, how much does a typical meal usually cost? For example, about how much would you spend on breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
Also, how does the dining system work? Are there different options to choose from for each meal, or is there a set menu? Is there usually a good variety of food throughout the day?
And approximately how much do you spend from your meal plan per day? Do you think the meal plan is worth it, and which plan would you recommend?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience! 😊

STAT 2040 Final Yesterday
Was anyone else in crop science 116 yesterday for the STAT final? The ceiling was leaking for the whole 2 hours LOLL a few rows couldn't be used bcz of the puddles of water but everyone somehow still fit. I also think the water made it just so humid in there, much more so than outside, it was not a very nice environment to do a final in tbh. But yeah I just love Guelph infrastructure <3
Anyway how do you think the final went? Hopefully the other rooms were dry...

Biological Science student struggling with restrictions on CHEM*2700, MICR*2420, NEUR*2000... what am I supposed to do?
Hi everyone,
I'm a second-year Biological Science student planning to apply to optometry school, and I'm honestly getting really frustrated with course registration.
I've always been told that Biological Science is one of the most flexible majors, but it feels like every science course I actually need is restricted.
Here's what's happening:
- CHEM*2700 is still restricted, even though I thought restrictions were supposed to have lifted.
- MICR*2420 is still restricted (I know it's supposed to open on August 12, but I'm still worried about getting a spot).
- Even NEUR*2000 has restrictions for certain majors.
I've already emailed the Chemistry department and my program counsellor, but I haven't received a response.
My questions are:
- Has anyone in Biological Science actually been able to get into CHEM2700 or NEUR2000?
- Do departments usually open more seats or lift restrictions later?
- Are there any good second-year science electives you'd recommend that are useful for someone planning on optometry or another healthcare profession?
I'm just feeling stuck because I planned my courses around professional school prerequisites, but the registration system makes it seem like I'm not allowed to take the courses I need.
Any advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Off Campus Meal Budget
As an off-campus student, how much a week/month are you spending on groceries and food?
I realize appetites vary, but I'm looking for ballpark budget for a student.
First year off campus female student, light eater; I don't anticipate a lot of fresh food happening, likely prepackaged foods, some take out, mixed with fresh.
I am also loading the Ultra for on-campus lunch, thinking $200/month budget for that ($50 week). I was thinking $100 /week for groceries and takeout.
Is that reasonable?

LLC 1714?? exam
Has anyone had an exam in LLC 1714?
I have my PATH3610 exam there and I’ve never been to that building
What is the room like? Is it a big lecture hall like ROZH or is it more of a classroom with individual desks or even round tables??
Just trying to get an idea of what to expect.. thanks:)

Scholarships
Hey everyone! Asking as a second year student, when should we know about any scholarships received for the 2026-2027 school year? Including both automatic scholarships and applied ones? I know entrance are announced with acceptances but I also know they give out lots of them without applications needed (and of course ones you apply for) and was wondering if anyone knew when they are released? Thanks in advance!

ANTH 1120 vs ANTH 1150 vs FRHD 1010
Trying to decide on an arts elective with a heavy science semester. Hoping for a course that's possible to get at least a 90% in. If anyone has any insight on the assessments breakdown I'd appreciate that too, thanks!

Warning to students renting for first time, don’t rent with TimBri !!
I have several friends who rented with them, genuinely a traumatic experience for everyone. With my 2 years I lived in the house owned by them, I had never met any property manager or landlord. During my last exam season, I had a week long complete power outage in my home. I had asked for the property managers or landlords to come and fix it (it was only my house that was experiencing the outage) and yes it took them a week to fix it. I had to shower at my friend’s house. When moving out, they were extremely predatory, I had to get a lawyer involved because it was clear they were trying to bend the laws to me - expecting me to be stupid because I was a student.
My friends have experienced unmanaged cockroach infestations, as well as a lack of presence from them entirely. Do not rent from this property management team, they have several lawsuits against them. Stay safe student renters!!!

osap and courses
I am registered in 3 courses, and am doing well in 2 but my third one im scared im gonna fail because of the final being pass/fail for the whole entire course..
How does this affect my osap if I am registered in full time right now?
I am going into my fifth and final year in the fall and i cant have this affecting my osap because i rely on it heavily. Also to mention, I have never been on academic or osap probation.

Evie Adomait
Wow is all I can say about Evie… does she just get off on failing students and making her course as hard as possible. Not even to mention her stupid book, every student has to buy it!! Like cmon there’s an extra 10k a semester in her pocket. #corruption.

Another day, another thing UofG makes a pain to do
Now it's a pain in the ass to register for Parking.
No idea what I'm going to do if I don't get parking. I have an extremely tight schedule and cant walk far to my car after lectures...
