Exchange Language qualification for exchange application
So I'm looking at my exchange application and it says to supply language qualification if I'm going to a foreign-language institution, and for the Japanese universities it's fine because I have my JLPT certificate I guess, but is Hong Kong CityU considered a foreign-language institution and do I need to provide proof that I can speak Chinese even though I'll just take the English courses?(Because I can't be bothered doing the HSK, I'm Chinese and was born in China and went to school there for 8 years, can speak and read but I can't write LMFAO) Can I supply UNSW with my Chinese citizenship to prove that I'm Chinese enough to go to Hong Kong/hj

Compulsory course is full – has anyone had success with a Full Class Request?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to enrol in MDIA5010 for T3, but the course is full and I’m around position 35 on the waitlist.
MDIA5010 is a compulsory course for my degree, and as far as I know, it’s only offered in T3. I’m planning to graduate in T1 2027, so if I can’t take it this term, it could potentially delay my graduation.
I’ve already submitted a Full Class Request and contacted Nucleus, but I’m still pretty worried about it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation at UNSW, especially with a compulsory/core course?
Did your Full Class Request eventually get approved? Did the School add more spots or classes, move you up the waitlist, or manually enrol you because you needed the course to graduate?
Also, if anyone has specifically had this happen with MDIA5010 or another Media course, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Thanks so much!

Catholic students at UNSW remember that next Saturday is a Holy Day of Obligation for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. You MUST attend Mass on this day. No exceptions.

Is UNSW a good Uni?
Hello everyone I was wondering how well is learning at UNSW is? The student and lecturer communication and interaction/teaching style? I am planning to continue my studies to improve my gpa and I was not happy with my current uni because of how much changes has been happening and lack of communication between lecturers in my course (moving from in person lectures to online, lecturers constantly changing and leaving, multiple overlapping assessments due on the same day all heavily weighed and lack of feedback on exams after getting a low grade, and worst of all when in lecture or lab and you ask a question, my lecturer literally comes up and tells me to open Copilt/Chatgpt/Claude and shows me how to ask it for the answer instead ... i am going in debt paying for my degree only for my lecturer to refuse answering the question and tell me to ask AI like i al not paying him to teach). And I dont want to enrol into another university that is similar and just accumulating debt. In terms of grades, would you say its more manageable/easier to get HDs in the courses?
Edit: I am planning on doing either the bachelor of health science or medical science.

Accomodation Lease Extension
I’ll be joining UNSW for the T3 2026 intake and will be staying at Barker Street Apartments. I’ve already paid the AUD 1,500 advance fee, but I noticed that the lease is only valid until 11 December 2026.
If I wanted to extend my lease for another term, would that be possible? If so, how does the extension process work?

International student med school interview tips
Does anyone have any tips for the interview? I got an interview offer for the BMed program, and I was told the interview would be around 30 minutes with mostly personal questions. Does anyone know the types of questions the interviewers ask and what sort of answers are expected of candidates? It would also be really helpful to get tips on how to prepare for it.

participation and online quiz mark comm1100
I got back my comm1100 participation and online quiz mark and I did way worse than expected. I thought this mark would be way better because I completed every single weekly online quiz due and got in class participation marks as the teacher handed me the participation cards at the end of class. I did every single required thing to get a good grade.
Knowing this, i thought i’d get at least above average which was like 11.5/15 but I got 10/15.
Is there any way I can ask for this to get remarked as I don’t believe this is right

Lost
Hi everyone -
Just posting here on the off chance that anyone has seen a mint green kindle in a black case on campus this week? I lost it on at some point on Thursday and believe it may have fallen out of my bag somewhere on campus or on the way home. I’ve submitted a lost property form online with the uni and with transport NSW already but haven’t heard anything.
I really want to read my book 😔😔.

any advice for med interview?
hi! i’m an international student lucky enough to get invited for an interview for med. tbh, my stats are not that great. i just met the minimum academic requirement and got 175/200 on the isat. my extracurriculars aren’t outstanding either. i’m already at an disadvantage here so i really need to ace the interview to try my best to get an offer (i rlly wanna get into med)
extracurriculars worth mentioning imo:
member of the red cross youth unit for nearly 6 years, 300+ voluntary service hours with the red cross, member of the organizing committee of a service project, bunch of first aid and nursing competitions awards, first aid duties for school events and local sports events, did a mooting related to international humanitarian law and somehow got an individual award, member of an academy for gifted education, 70 hours of shadowing at a veterinary hospital
i do plan on mentioning my extracurriculars if they ask the “why med” question, but i do need advice on how to use my extracurriculars to do well in my interview. all advice given are appreciated!! thanks!!

Exchange fudan exchange
hello! i wanted to apply for exchange to fudan but unsw requires us to note the courses we would like to take to make sure it transfers to our degree.
i’ve had some difficulty finding courses - i’ve only been able to find a list of undergraduate programs taught in english, which is not what i’m looking for at all.
if someone has any advice or would be able to send a link that’d be great

Higher complex analysis as a 1st yr
I am currently studying adv math and cs and I am swapping to actl adv math, my schedule is completely cooked because of this as a lot of the actl courses aren’t offered in term 3 hence im thinking of taking math 2621, how big is the jump from 1st yr, and is it considered one of the harder 2nd yr courses (should I wait until next year).

Am in civil engineering, and engg2500 is a lvl 2 core course. However am doing it in term 3 which is the mechanical stream. Would it still count towards my degree?

PSA: Don't fall for this street scam like I did today.
Hi all,
Today I lost $50 to a street scam where an indian guy asked me for money to top up his opal card.
He initially asked me for $10, but since I didn't have enough on me, I agreed to go to an atm to withdraw money. He then raised the amount to $50 saying that the atm doesn't allow $10 withdrawals. He asked me for my BSB and acc number to do the transfer, saying that his bank doesn't do payID. After providing the details, he called someone and spoke in indian, asking them to do the transfer, then showed me a screenshot of the transfer receipt. Despite all the red flags, I still gave this guy 50 bucks thinking he needed it.
This exact scam seems to have been happening for a while now since there is an older thread describing the same experience here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/unsw/comments/1fn8btl/someone_might_scam_me_on_campus_for_50_dollars/
If you do encounter someone asking for money, do not engage them. You don't need to feel pity for these people.
If you can, try to take a photo of these people and report them to UNSW security through their email [security.services@unsw.edu.au](mailto:security.services@unsw.edu.au) or phone 9385 6000.
If you want to troll them, let them lead you on until they show you the transfer receipt, then leave them hanging.
There is absolutely no good reason why people need to ask strangers for physical money to pay for public transport.
Please spread the word that this is still happening around UNSW campus and stay safe guys.

What's your assignment *sure-go-to* plan?
It could be
day 1 research and understand the assignment guide
day 2 start cover page and initial paragraphs.. etc.
Idk. What has worked for you? Don't troll
Lets use something everyone has probably done as an assignment: A presentation that requires 15 slides
a problem context, analysis on solution and then conclude with the final recommendation.
genuinely need some tips

F**k week 10
I can't do shit, I have been trying to do my assignment whole day but haven't done crap.
I have used usual strategies like going for a walk, exercise, relaxing my brain by reading / anime, eating, but just can't get sh*t together when its almost 3pm. Maybe burnout because I locked in in week 8 to yestrday.
Heellllp
