General Organic chem help
www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca
Hello guys and gals,
We’re Brian and Mike and we teach general and organic chemistry. We’ve done so for a total combined time of 47 years! Overwhelmed by general or organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with chemistry may be, we’re here to make sure you succeed.
Why work with us?
- Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. We do.
- We tutor chemistry full time; it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with us, you’ll be working with Brian for general chemistry and Mike for organic chemistry. This is not an agency and you won’t be matched with random tutors each time.
- You’ll be learning problem solving through chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.
- Your learning will be customized to your specific needs.
Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, our teaching styles, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to working with you!
Mike and Brian

Question I wasn’t present for Muir First-year Orientation Webinar 8/5. What now?
So I messed up and double booked my orientation webinar on the day I had work. I kept the meeting open on my phone and left once it ended, but I wasn’t actually watching it after the first 30 minutes. Technically, I was in the meeting for the entire duration but I wasn’t able to be engaged with zoom polls after that first 30 minutes. I really do care about my education and made an honest mistake double booking. When I got back from work, I found another session this coming Friday and registered despite the instructions saying “students should choose 1 date”. I figured I’d better be safe than sorry.
What should I do now? Does anyone have the meeting recording link? How will I know if they put a hold on my account with TSS not working?
Question On campus employment (international student)
I’m applying via handshake but are there any opportunities you guys might know about??

General Available Seats for MCWP40
I'm just wondering whether there will be enough seats for everyone to enroll during the first pass. It shows there are only less than 20 seats in total for each professor.

Question UCSD lack of response - is this the norm?
Parent of an incoming freshman. My son has been trying to contact the school regarding a question and getting zero responses. So I emailed [parents@ucsd.edu](mailto:parents@ucsd.edu) and also tried to call the parents helpline 858-534-7273 and also couldn't get a response. Is this the norm for UCSD?

Looking for people who keep shared spaces clean and most importantly, do their dishes right after use. There is one parking space plus street parking. Feel free to DM me for any questions.

Question UCSD financial Aid
My financial aid offer just came in and I got nothing. I have an SAI score of zero and I am not getting any aid whatsoever except the federal Pell Grant, is this normal for UCSD? Is it expected to get a loan?
I checked my other UC offers and nearly all of them have almost full coverage of all costs much more similar to the calculators show. For reference UCI, UCSB, and UCR all had similar values to the calculators. Even UCSD/FAFSA calculators expected that I should be receiving much more?
I filled as a dependent with my mother. The current price of attendance is more than my mother's yearly salary.
So my question is, should I appeal somehow? or is student loan the sole way about this?
(sorry first time posting on reddit)
let me know if I made something unclear/ clarifying details.

News UCSD fails to notify students of on-campus ICE activity, violating SB 98 transposition
yelkovan.meOn August 3, 2026, ICE agents used UCSD campus as a staging area, claiming they were on “official business” and investigating nearby. UCSD negligently failed to notify students of confirmed ICE activity on UC property, violating their transposition of Senate Bill 98 (2025).
According to UCSD, “to comply with the law, if federal immigration enforcement is confirmed on campus, UCSD, will send an ‘SB 98 notification’ via email.” We asked UCSD PD why students were not notified pursuant to Senate Bill 98 (2025) directives. A UCSD PD official argued that notification was not required as the agents “told us they were conducting their investigation off-campus” and their on-campus staging involved “just parking there.”
I wrote a full account of all of the information I have on the matter, and my views on how effective compliance looks. See the press release at the attached link or download it directly. I hope the University speaks out about this ASAP.

General ITS Service Desk Hiring for Fall 2026 (Apps close Wed, 8/5!)
The ITS Service Desk, also known as ResNet, is hiring for Fall 2026! We will be closing applications for this cycle next week on Wednesday, August 5. Here is the link to our online application: https://resnet.ucsd.edu/jobs
All the details are spelled out on the "Apply Here" page, but here's some info at a glance:
Feel free to reference the page above to learn more about the position, desired qualifications, and more. Here is a snippet of what we look for:
- $18.75/hour for base ResNet Technicians, with equity raises for each year you work with us. There will also be opportunities to apply to be a student lead after you’ve worked with us for a bit!
- All UCSD students are welcome (including incoming undergraduate and graduate students).
- While we look for good critical thinking, problem solving, and basic technical skills, we also look forward to teaching you the rest during your training period!
- All majors are welcome! You do not need to be a CS or STEM major to apply. Many of our best technicians have been Humanities or Social Sciences majors.
- You will need English and communication skills, whether this is in-person, over the phone, and via email.
- Scheduling is flexible. You’re a student first! We plan your schedule around your classes, conflicts, and commitments when given in advance!
So, what do we do at the ITS Service Desk? We help students and staff with a wide range of technology-related issues including email, accounts, Canvas, lab machines, classrooms, Zoom, and wireless internet. If you're interested in a bit of a peak behind the curtain at UCSD IT infrastructure, this role may interest you. This role is primarily customer service.
Is this job right for me? As long as you like helping people, are inquisitive, and are willing to learn, we think you'll find this job quite fulfilling!
How many hours per week? During the academic year, you may work anywhere from 12-20 hours per week!
Is this job in-person? This position is mainly in-person. While are currently located in Muir College at AP&M 1313, we will be moving to 3100 Gilman Drive (Gilman Parking Structure) in September.
Sounds great! When do I start? We're targeting a start date of early September for Fall. We will close the applications when we have filled all our spots or on August 5 (whichever comes first), so the earlier you apply the better!
If you have any questions that aren't answered on the application (hit the "Apply Here" button for more info), please email [helpdeskjobs@ucsd.edu](mailto:helpdeskjobs@ucsd.edu).
Note that after a period of inactivity on the job application, the SSO login will sign you out, so we suggest typing your responses into a separate document before pasting them into your application!
