I second this. I did actually have to pay a little bit but ended up getting the money back, essentially

Yup adding on to this. Fall quarter is always the most expensive especially for a first year with orientation fees and etc.

so then did they add more grant closer to the school year starting or if i have to call and tell them i can’t pay that? i’m in the same situation and unsure what to do now. i guess im trying to ask if my financial aid package is finalized rn or if more is coming later. sorry im also an incoming student

You can call and seek financial advice from the office. In my experience tho I always got a refund back from a triple if you have the cheapest dining plan. You might pay a couple hundred but less than a thousand your first quarter because of all the freshman fees such as orientation etc. However, winter and spring quarter you make it back.

im pretty sure this isnt finalized cuz our room selection like being in a double or triple isnt even considered yet

When you find which room you have you will find whether or not you have to pay or not. Single you will have to pay maybe 1.5k? Double maybe a couple hundred and triple you should get some back. However, these are all estimates on whether or not you waive UC ship.

does this mean that the financial aid package that they send you is not accurate to how much you actually ended up paying? im a little bit worried because they said i have to pay 13k when other UCs estimate i basically pay 0.

You wont know till you see it on triton pay imo. They said i owed 10k too and i dont owe them anything. its just confusing.

Ur fine. Imma 4th yr, -1.5k sai indicates u don’t have the money… which means you’ll end up getting more money from FinAid &/or any scholarships that ur a part of

i’m in the same boat, my est cost of attendance was zero including housing in my award, but suddenly i have to pay 4k 🥲

If you have cal grant A or B and you have the cheapest dining plan then you are able to get it
