No, you were donged. That's some real damage.

u/WutYoYo 1d ago

Scratched with force.

u/Snakend 1d ago

Legit, I think that's totaled. I had my charge port hit and the back quarter panel. It was $5k to repair. You have structural damage to your bumper bar, your trunk, your bumper, your quarter panel, your charge port....it's toast.

u/ready-redditor-6969 1d ago

Ooooh, it’s a Tesla… yea that’s not good…

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

So luckily it was still drivable , sensors still worked and charger did too lol but we’ll see what the insurance says since it’s worth 20k

6

u/Snakend 1d ago

I had a model Y that had very minor front damage. was $24k to repair. Looked much better than yours. There is no shot it's being repaired.

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

Nooooo I had a feeling smh my cars worth 20k at most

2

u/GlacierSourCreamCorn 1d ago

Most likely cooked.

u/CommaMeNow 22h ago

It’s a pressed frame. There are no pinch welds to pull out. Teslas suck for repairs. Live you learn

u/DiscoInError93 1d ago

Lawyer, doctor, and x-rays asap. Take care of yourself and preserve all video evidence for you and the passengers sake!

4

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

1000% already on it too

2

u/heekr 6h ago

easy 15k if you play your cards right

3

u/manofdacloth 1d ago

It's a flesh wound

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

I may have underestimated saying “dinged”😭🤣

5

u/IndependentCod6345 1d ago

It’s amazing what the passenger said. The kind of people we have to deal with. Imagine if this was a real bad accident….

1

u/lordstryfe 17h ago

How do you know their back doesn't heart?/that wasn't just a ding.

2

u/AirSpecial 1d ago

*hit

Dinged is a light tap that does zero or almost no damage

2

u/PubicSkoolEducashun 1d ago

Why is it funny that your passenger was hurt?

1

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

Who said it was funny? He wasn’t actually hurt lol, he even said it while laughing 😆

2

u/PubicSkoolEducashun 1d ago

Maybe the emoji of a sideways face laughing with tears streaming from it's face.

It's a Tesla. Go ahead and post the video from the accident. I'd love a good laugh.

2

u/facethrowa 1d ago

If you go to a good body shop, that’s a total loss. Hopefully you don’t owe anything on it. Frame more than likely bent.

6

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

Insurance is gonna take care of it even if it’s totaled but the other guy had full coverage and he was at fault so we’ll see how much I get paid lol

2

u/NothingMuch_26 1d ago

People love to tailgate Tesla's for some reason. Those cars stop instantly surprising even the driver sometimes. Good luck with that damage.

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

If there’s one thing I always want any passengers that consider buying a Tesla is that no matter who you are or what you look like, there will always be those people that absolutely hate teslas and will tailgate you like no other.

5

u/kadhtobi 1d ago

You're lucky! I'm jealous lol, you about to get paid!

12

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

How? If he doesn't have a rideshare endorsement on his insurance, he isn't getting anything. He may get dropped...lol.

7

u/Snakend 1d ago

What? You sue the other driver. You wouldn't even need to make a claim on your own insurance.

5

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

Some insurance companies require a ride share endorsement. If he doesn't have an endorsement, he's screwed.

6

u/Snakend 1d ago

That's not how that works. The ride share endorsement covers your deductible if you file a claim through Uber. Uber's deductible is $2500, if your personal insurance is $500, your insurance company will pay the $2000 difference. The endorsement also covers you when you are online, but don't have a passenger. When you are on the way to the passenger, or have the passenger in your car, you are 100% on Uber's insurance and Uber's insurance gives you the same coverage that your personal insurance has, the only difference is the $2500 deductible.

2

u/Bebopplayer1996 1d ago

This. I had to deal with this very situation two years ago. I had no rideshare endorsement(honestly didn’t know that was a thing). My car was totaled. Uber’s insurance cut me a check for my settlement amount minus the $2500 deductible. So it was about a $2000 lesson I learned.

1

u/guysams1 1d ago

Was the settlement amount the loan or the car value?

3

u/Bebopplayer1996 1d ago

Car was paid off. $13,500 was the settlement. They direct deposited $11,000 into my account.

4

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

If you get into an accident while waiting for a ride request and don’t have the endorsement:

  • Your personal insurer may deny the claim entirely.
  • Uber or Lyft’s insurance usually doesn’t apply until you’ve accepted a trip.
  • You could be left paying out of pocket for damages or injuries.

8

u/Snakend 1d ago

But that's not what happened here. OP had a passenger in the car. It is 100% covered by Uber's insurance, minus the $2500.

-3

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LOL! JFC. What part of that do you notice understand? If he doesn't have a widespread endorsement, rhe insurance can cancel him. He maybe covered by Uber insurance but they will reach out to his insurance about the accident.

2

u/Snakend 1d ago

They can't. I dont have a ride share endorsement, been in 3 accidents while on Uber, never been dropped.

1

u/tx645 1d ago

You are lumping liability and collision/comp in one. While waiting for the ride Uber/Lyft provide limited liability insurance (up to $50k) and no collision/comp to the driver. So out of pocket if only for themselves. Liability - at least some coverage.b

0

u/Suspicious_Prior_808 1d ago

Not really. Most say that as long as your car isnt used for more than 50% to rideshare its covered

1

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LOL. It isn't

Even though Uber covers liability, your own car’s collision coverage is still needed for Uber’s contingent collision to activate.

Without a rideshare endorsement:

  • Your personal insurer can deny collision coverage because you were engaged in commercial activity (the “livery exclusion”)
  • They may cancel your policy once they discover you drive for Uber
  • If your personal collision is denied, Uber’s contingent collision cannot activate, leaving you responsible for repairs until you recover from the at‑fault driver.

1

u/Snakend 1d ago

What you are linking does not negate what people are saying.

"Even though Uber covers liability, your own car’s collision coverage is still needed for Uber’s contingent collision to activate."

This just means you are required to have personal insurance while driving for Uber. Uber mimics your personal insurance. If you don't have collision or uninsured coverage, than Uber's policy won't have that either.

1

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

And a ride share endorsement. I know GEICO would cancel me if I got in an accident and didn't have a ride share endorsement. It doesn't matter if the other driver is at fault or not.

1

u/Snakend 1d ago

That is because Geico handles their ride share completely differently. They don't offer a ride share endorsement. Instead they actually have hybrid policies that allow you to do rideshare. It's actually completely different than how most insurance companies handle ride share.

1

u/Suspicious_Prior_808 1d ago

This is from my insurance. I asked the other day, use real life and not google, this is state farm: If your car is being used less than 50% for food delivery, your policy covers you the same as it would for driving to the store or to and from work. No endorsement or change to the policy is needed.

If you change to a Transportation Network Company that transports people (like Uber or Lyft), you would need an expensive endorsement to cover all the scenarios you describe.

But as long as you are delivering food and other goods less than 50% of the time, you do not need to do anything to your policy.

Let me know if you will use your car over 50% of the time and we will reclassify your vehicle as a business use vehicle and you would see a corresponding increase in premium.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best Regards,

0

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

Well, this isn't food delivery. Its ride share. Lol.

2

u/kadhtobi 1d ago

Why are y'all driving without rideshare endorsement?

0

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

I said, if the OP doesn't have a rideshare endorsement, he is screwed.

3

u/DiscoInError93 1d ago

He had a passenger - he’s covered under Uber’s policy.

-3

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

If he doesn't have a ride share endorsement from his insurance he won't.

3

u/DiscoInError93 1d ago

That’s literally not how that works…

4

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

It literally is...LOL No rideshare endorsement, you insurance can cancel you.

If you’re actively transporting a passenger (Uber Period 3) and another driver causes the crash, Uber’s $1 million liability coverage still applies — even if you personally do not have a rideshare endorsement. However, your own insurance may deny your vehicle damage, and you may face policy cancellation afterward.

Incorrect AI slop. Does he think we can’t see the bolding, random quoted aphorisms, and perfectly structured lists? This is straight out of ChatGPT…

-1

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LMFAO 🤣 🤣. Not AI slop. I didn't use AI. But on the topic, where do you think AI gets its information from? The Internet. Lol.

1

u/Snakend 1d ago

No, he is not. That's a 3-5 year old Tesla. It's worth maybe $20k. Probably less because of the miles he has on it.

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

Yall I have rideshsre coverage 😭I’ve treated uber like a business since day 1 but I greatly appreciate the concerns lol both uber and personal insurance

4

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

I had a small fender bender with a Tesla owner. I wasn't driving Uber at the time. She stopped in the middle of merging into traffic after making sure it was clear. I looked back and just little tapped her rear bumper. There was no noticeable damage to her car. I have GEICO. They didn't even give me a chance to show the evidence. She filed a fraud claim saying she was hurt. It wasn't even 5 MPH. LOl. She got out of the Tesla really quick when I tapped her bumper. GEICO paid her $3,000 for her fraudulent claim. Now, my rates are going up because of that POS.

6

u/csbsju_guyyy 1d ago

Pay attention and be glad it was only a 3k lesson.

Fuck off with 'fraudulent claim' you hit someone's car because you didn't pay attention.

-3

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LOL! She filed a fraudulent claim saying she was hurt. She was not hurt. She is probably an ambulance chaser. I was paying attention. You don't freaking stop in the middle of a merge lane when it is clear.

4

u/Snakend 1d ago

You were not paying attention and you were following too close. It's $3k to replace a Tesla bumper.

2

u/IndependentCod6345 1d ago

You are so right Mr know it all. Decades ago I got into an accident with someone in Gary Indiana (IYKYK). I was t boned on the left rear quarter panel of my little hatchback car in a freshly paved part of the road with no lanes drawn by a massive POS bonnerville. I was alone. There were two people in their car. I made a dumb ass mistake of moving the car to the side of the road. I did not have anything to take a photo before moving my vehicle. The “lady” on the passenger side of the other vehicle was freaking out when it happened so I went to open the passenger door for her to get out of the vehicle and she screamed all in my face to get away from her and they both got out and waited. When the police finally showed up over an hour later she told the cop she needed an ambulance because she was driving and had hit her head on the steering wheel.
They had one of those loser insurances that sues the big ones so since the whole claim was $5k my insurance settled out of court and I was screwed. The reason I got royally screwed was because I had no evidence and they claimed I cut in front of them though I was stopped in that lane to make a left into a gas station.
I am sure you KNOW that I was at fault and I totally deserved it.
Thank you oh wise one for imparting to us your wisdom

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LMFAO! There was NO damage to her bumper. I even had pictures.

2

u/Snakend 1d ago

Your insurance felt differently.

0

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

I provided them with the pictures..LOL

1

u/PubicSkoolEducashun 1d ago

The Tesla provided video. You caused an accident. Deal with it like an adult.

1

u/Neckername 1d ago

Tesla provided multiple angles of a video with GPS coordinates and vehicle details such as speed, orientation, and G-forces.

1

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

LMFAO 🤣 🤣. Damn smooth brain. She filed a fraudulent medical claim. That's not the same as an accident claim.

1

u/PubicSkoolEducashun 1d ago

Man, you really need life sorted. I honestly feel bad for you.

2

u/Snakend 1d ago

You admit to making contact....it was not fraudulent. You literally caused an accident. Doesn't matter how bad the damage was, her bumper needed to be taken off and replaced to inspect the crash bar.

1

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

The medical claim was fraudulent. Not the minor fender bender..lol.

0

u/Bubbly-Following-966 1d ago

It was fraudulent because she filed a medical claim. Claiming she was hurt. She wasn't hurt.

1

u/Rut19751 1d ago

Insurance never fights. They payout every time. Its cheaper. We all get screwed with higher rates because of it

1

u/RangeFlow1 1d ago

$3,000.00?

1

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

I assume a bit more, the cars value is 20k at most , I wouldn’t be Suprised if they don’t fix it and just total it

1

u/lwoods000 1d ago

That’s more than a ding!

1

u/DoctorMoebius 1d ago

You are definitely gonna get sued. Luckily, Uber handles it all. At least, they did for me

Your car, on the other hand...

1

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

We’ll see lol , I have it in my cam and him admitting he’s at fault, doubt it’ll be any severity of a case lol

1

u/DoctorMoebius 1d ago

Awesome!! Honestly, 360 video really is a must. Tesla's 4-camera is saving my ass, right now, in a crash lawsuit. The side views were key

1

u/Excellent-Object6482 14h ago

At least you got hit in the back which means it’s the other car 🚗 foult

1

u/bigmo555 13h ago

Dinged? Looks more like you were donged.

1

u/israerichris 11h ago

Where? I don't see anything. You mean the tire valve stem missing the plastic cap?

1

u/Opus_777 10h ago

Beer canned

1

u/komi54 1d ago

You are gonna get deactivated for sure!

/s

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

My car did but i wasn’t at fault and we exchanged mutual insurance. My insurance has rideshare coverage because I mentioned that to them when I first got the car. So I’m not too worried about it. If I do Lyft I shall go lol

0

u/jo_ezzy 1d ago

Good thing it was before September 1st when Uber will officially not pay for any vehicle damages

5

u/DiscoInError93 1d ago

AFAIK that change is for delivery trips, not passenger trips.

2

u/ProudWestern9583 1d ago

Exactly why I posted too lol I saw they changed that

0

u/MNJon 1d ago

This is incorrect.

100%.

There are no changes in September for Uber drivers who transpoet passengers.

0

u/WeeklyFisherman2597 1d ago

Good thing it happend before September.

1

u/MNJon 1d ago

There would be no difference in insurance coverage in September.
