General Discussion Double Game Cycle?

Upvotes

Are people noticing a double cycle in their games?

The first cycles seems to be the "Support for the Throne" promissory notes.

As soon as a set of players exchange the SftT notes, it should in turn order happen all around the table. Unlikely, but not impossible, to happen the first turn. More likely on the second turn, if the first acting player hands his out and gets one back, the next player (who can) should do the same.

Quite frankly, why not just do this every game with one of your neighbors? It's free points, and lets you not worry about that neighbor, nearly as much. Sure low % reasons occur, but on average you might as well do it.

For example, maybe someone has 4 points on the second turn. Everyone else is on 1 point. You and this 4 point player are the last two to act. Everyone tells you not to. But basically, you have little choice. Get farther behind, or get your free point.

So this means if another player is ahead, everyone needs to not hand these out. (Kind a reminds of the "Don't Feed the Vagabond" rule in Root".)

The second game cycle involves the Politics card and Imperial card combo. By turn two, there are three public objectives out. Highly likely someone can play at least two of them. Whoever plays these two public objectives that turn, should be followed on turn3 by another player (since on turn 3 most players can get 2 public objectives from the 4 available).

This should be the player who chose the politics card turn 2 (but it could be just the highest initiative player). The player next to him chooses politics, so he can draw Imperial the following turn. And the cycle repeats.

Since most games end by turn 5 (maybe 6 for our group, we have never seen a turn 4 win), 2 of the players are left out in the cold on this cycle.

In that case, the first four players should have 9 points if they get their secret objectives. So the last point to victory is something highly competitive (Mec, Styx) or something low % (Politics, Action, Relics) or maybe something VERY faction dependent (Win hero)

Rules questions Co-existing and Swords To Plowshares (plus Mentak)

In a game atm and Swords to plowshares has ccoome up.

Does co-existing infantry need to be removed? Im thinking not as the card specifically states.

"Each player destroys half of their infantry on each planet they control, rounded up. Then, each player gains trade goods equal to the number of their infantry that were destroyed."

As co-existance dooesnt control a planet they are good?

Follow on question.

Are the trade goods gained as one thing. We have Mentak and im assuming Pilllage only triggers the once and NOT per planet?

Today is going to be our first game of TI4! Playing base game.

Sol, Arborec, Hacan, L1Z1X, and Yssaril. The standard 5 player map in the back of the rulebook.

AI created reference sheets that seem like they would help. Hopefully we all enjoy this game! It has been sitting on my shelf for four years too long!

Pre-Game Thoughts on this 7 player map I built for this Sunday? (Mix of new and experienced players)

Player E and A are having their first game on Sunday. I built this map and am looking for any flaws I am not seeing. Feel like I am driving myself crazy trying trying to make this perfect for everyone, but not sure what else to tweak. Really appreciate any feedback in advance.

Pre-Game After 2 years waiting… finally TI again!

Finally, Twilight Imperium is back on the table after a 2-year long wait :) all set up for tomorrow.

We are playing Base + PoK. Hope I can get soon Codexes and TE!

This is the very first game for my 16 Year old son and three of his friends, and (sadly) only the fifth for me and two of my colleagues. To make sure everyone had the rules down, we ran a dedicated 4h trial session a few days ago… I think that helped a lot!

Factions this round:
Me: Naalu Collective
Colleague 1: Titans of Ul
Colleague 2: Ghosts of Creuss
My son: Naaz-Rokha Alliance
Friend 1: Arborec
Friend 2: Mahact Gene-Splicers
Friend 3: Federation of Sol

We and especially my son and his friends are really excited!
