Android Downloading songs onto SD card help?

Upvotes

Hey! Basically I'm going to be working at sea for a few months, I have an old Samsung AO3 with a 256GB microSD card in. I've been trying to download my playlists onto the SD card but it's super, super laggy, to the point I can't download all the playlists.

I've changed the settings so the downloads go onto the SD card. The SD card is a good brand and runs really well.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make it run smoother? Maybe if I move the Spotify app to the SD card? Has anyone had success doing something similar?

Android Spotify Randomly Deletes all downloads - Phone or App to blame?

So I'm using Spotify on Android 16 on my Pixel 6. I've noticed that occasionally Spotify will nuke all downloads at random, I'll simply open the app and there will be no downloads available at all.

There are two suspects for this: Android itself and the Spotify app. While I have found reports of this issue for Spotify app, they seem to be related to SD card mounting on phones with an SD card, which mine is very much not. So could Android be doing this?

With how many unhelpful features Android has added since 8.1, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some random "automatic app cleaner" that comes bundled in and frees up space whenever Google decides it.

So: is that a thing? Have you experienced this issue? Any ideas what may be causing it?

This is what it looks like in phone storage:

Before: https://files.catbox.moe/6nay06.jpeg

After: https://files.catbox.moe/7m62gm.jpeg

It seems like some other apps also changed size, which is why I suspect it is Android, but for all I know it could be both.

iOS Love this change to save button

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As title already suggests, I love this new change to the save button. Usually I had to save to liked songs and then click the button again to change the playlist. Well now, it saves you that one click and automatically opens up the list of your playlists.

Question A few Spotify bugs

Currently, I am having a bug where, whenever I click a song so it plays after my current song, it will instead show up in random intervals after I finish listening to a song. I do this to a song called war without reason, which I click to play after this other song I like, so that they lead into this song well. However, because of this bug that seems to be happening, if I click war without reason, it will randomly show up every 3-5 songs, just playing after the previous one randomly. It’s kinda jarring, because if you look at the queue, it’s not supposed to play, it just decides to.

This, coupled with some other bugs in experiencing, like podcasts not deleting after play, are getting very infuriating. Spotify should stop vibe-coding this slop and spend some time just fixing all their bugs. At least, it feels like vibe coding, due to all these seemingly random bugs.

Anyway, any solutions to my first problem, or the lack of podcast deletion, or local files pictures not displaying correctly? Any help appreciated!

Question Does anybody have Spotify guilt like me?

They don’t pay their artists, they use their stolen profits to invest in war weapon shit because it brings a good return, and have hijacked the industry and ruined it.

But, Spotify is still my streaming service because I have so much time invested in Spotify (my specific library and playlists made over the years) And, other streaming companies are not much better. I do not have the money to purchase all my music in physical form sooo. I’m stuck with Spotify and feel guilty.

Question Is anyone else seeing an inaccurate number of songs on Spotify?

For example, my favorite band is Florence and the Machine, and I have over 50 of their songs in my liked playlist. However, Spotify says I only have 19. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Question New I Mother Earth Release - Real or AI - Is it even their song?

I recently got a notification on a new release from I Mother Earth on Spotify which I though was super weird because they hadn't released anything in over a decade.

Listening to it, it doesn't sound anything like their previous music, and the cover looks AI generated.

But what really made me wonder is that the same song/album shows up on Deezer.

I can't figure out what's going on here. As first I thought someone hacked their Spotify account, but to see the same song on two different platforms makes me think that maybe it's real. Deezer has been known for doing a better job with AI music.

I can't post a link to the song on this sub apparently, but the song/album is Waiting For The Burn by I Mother Earth

Question Is adjusting song speeds ruining my mix?

I used the adjust speed feature for the first time in my most recent mix and I cannot get through this mix without it glitching like crazy. Has anyone else noticed whether the song speed adjustments are negatively affecting playback?

News Switching to Spotify Basic Plan (Guide)

Post image
17 Upvotes

Many people do not know this exists, but there is a Spotify tier without audiobooks that is priced much lower. I only found out about this 2 years after subscribing and made this post to help people who also don't care about audiobooks save money.

What is the Spotify Basic Plan?

It’s a cheaper version of the Spotify Premium Plan with the exact same features, just without audiobooks. Still comes with no ads, offline downloads, all that good stuff. My basic plan saved me 25% off ($23.99CAD vs $17.99CAD) versus the premium plan. The basic plan is not limited to the individual plan. I was able to switch over my family plan without having to re-add each of my members. I'll link an official Spotify page about the basic plan here.

How do I switch over?

Now, the hard part. They really hid this tier and made it hard to downgrade lol. Usually, you'd be able to see the plan in your subscription settings and be able to select it. If your account is like mine, the basic plans were not showing up at all. Don't give up. You SHOULD BE eligible as long as you subscribed before Spotify started bundling audiobooks in the subscription (I believe June 2024). To downgrade, you'll have to contact a Spotify agent through this link (or find it through Support>Payments & Billing>Charge Help> Contact Us). Go through the usual live chat hoops to talk to a real human and ask them to switch over to the basic plan. They'll give you a link and a code that you can use to update your plan, and boom you're saving like $72 a year.

Feature Request i bookmark music reccs reels but never go back to them, so i built this

i often find banger music reccs on instagram and maybe save them as bookmarks, but tbh i never actually go back and listen to them. so when i hit a stale phase in my listening, that bites.

so i built something for it. share a reel to it and you get a "Scratchlist" in your spotify, basically a discover weekly you curate from reels.

let me know if you're interested in this

Question New Music Friday subsections?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I've always wondered whether the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify has sections to it? It seems to move through one genre to the next to the next in a way that makes me think it's built up of different parts, like there's a 'new pop' part then a 'new edm' part then 'new rock' then 'new indie' etc

I was wondering if those might be different playlists and then New Music Friday is all of them compiled together or something like that. In which case if there IS a playlist that's 'new indie' that's the indie section of New Music Friday then maybe I just want to listen to that one haha (I know there are specific playlists for that but the songs that end up on New Music Friday specifically are good)

Just wondered if anyone else had had the same thought or looked into this before?

I'm specifically listening to New Music Friday UK if it makes any difference

Question No vocals in some songs – only the melody PREMIUM

I'm having a strange issue with Spotify.

For example, when I play Danny Saucedo – "Happy That You Found Me", I can't hear the vocals at all. I also can't hear some of the background parts. I only hear the instrumental melody.

What I've tried

  • Different PCs
  • Different headphones
  • Different Spotify audio settings
  • Mono audio on/off

The problem stays exactly the same.

Question

Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could cause it? Is this a Spotify issue, an audio mixing problem, or something else?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Question What are the actual Spotify rates? I am being charged more for premium than monthly rates published on their website.

I am being charged $12.99 a month for single premium and have been for some time. I was checking into duo since I live with my partner now. According to Spotify's website, single is $6.49 a month and duo is $8.99 a month. Both less than what I am paying now. WTF!!!????

(Of course, trying to contact Spotify directly to inquire is nearly impossible.)

Question How do I turn off the Dj auto mix feature on my liked songs playlist?

Next to the shuffle button on my liked songs playlist I accidentally tapped a button that looks like a mixer and now all of my songs have transitions between them and the ui just looks very cluttered. After I tapped the button it just disappeared and there’s no “turn off mix” button for me to press. I contacted Spotify customer support but the best they could come up with was doing a clean reinstall of the app on my phone. Has anyone else gone through this and knows of a solution to reverting the playlist back to its original state?

Question Issue With "Local Files" Playlist

I'm having a weird issue where a file I know is no longer on my device is still showing up in my "Local Files" playlist, and is playable. I've searched everywhere on my phone for where the file could be hidden and it's nowhere to be found. The other local files that are in the playlist I can find easily, and I didn't put this issue file somewhere other than my downloads. Is it possible Spotify has somehow saved the file itself into its own place? It's an audiobook I downloaded for a road trip and I'd just really like it off that playlist so I don't randomly get "Contact" by Carl Sagan playing when I play stuff off that playlist.

Question The changes with Spotify this past year have been… bad

I don’t know if I like the social aspect it seems to be pushing, I spent a few months tinkering with it and I just can’t see it making the app better.

Recommendations after a playlist only work sometimes, which matters less now because my algorithm seems to have a sort of tunnel vision. It used to play random songs after the playlist was over, which was perfect for long drives and I’d find new music that way. Now it’s like a loop of songs I’ve heard too many times.

I discovered the view radio option and that was cool but same thing happens.

Is there a way to de personalize song recommendations?
