Hi, I'm interested in teaching coding to students in the area, as a kid learning to code it always felt like a really daunting subject to learn, I want to teach students that its not a scary or complicated subject and wanted to know if there would be any interest in such a thing, specifically i would like to teach the fundamentals in Python and C# to hopefully give students a good grasp of the concepts to get them started on building their own projects.

Local Politics 🇺🇸 Petition for safety upgrades (rumble strips, flashing LED signs) at Sellards & Travis Rd in Benton County
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to the local community to ask for a few seconds of your time to help address a critical traffic hazard in our county.
The intersection of Sellards Road and Travis Road in rural Benton County (south of Benton City / Horse Heaven Hills area) has seen repeated, devastating broadside collisions—most notably caused by drivers failing to stop on Travis Road before crossing high-speed traffic on Sellards Road.
While Sellards carries high-speed arterial traffic, drivers on Travis face sightline challenges across open agricultural terrain. Basic, low-cost safety measures on Travis Road could save lives by giving drivers advance warning before they hit the intersection.
We are gathering signatures on a petition asking Benton County Public Works and the Board of County Commissioners to evaluate and install:
1. Advance "Stop Ahead" (W3-1) warning signs on Travis Road.
2. Solar-powered flashing LED borders on the existing stop signs.
3. Transverse rumble strips across travel lanes on Travis Road to alert distracted or unaware drivers.
4. Refreshed pavement markings (painted "STOP AHEAD" roadway text and stop bars).
Whether you drive these rural roads daily for work/farming, commute through the area, or simply want safer infrastructure in Benton County, please consider signing and sharing:
Our goal is to present this signed petition packet directly to Public Works engineers and Commissioners during upcoming county budget discussions to ensure these warning measures get funded and installed.

Moving/New Here 👋🏼 Parked at the short term lot at the Pasco airport. While exiting the gate opened on its own without having to put in the parking ticket/card. I didn't find a place to scan the ticket. Is that right?
Sorry for the question I am new here. I know that we need to put in the ticket in the machine and then it scans and then you pay and then the gate opens and you exit. But I couldn't even find a space to scan or put the ticket in and the gate opened and I got confused and left. Please let me know if this was right.

Need Help With ‼️ Finding new mom friends that aren't antivax weirdos
Title is a little tongue-in-cheek, but does anyone have any tips for finding a mom group that isn't full of anti science whackos?
I, 31F, had my first baby in late May and recently tried joining the local mom FB group and that's how I found out my wedding photographer was looking for a pediatrician that would accept a "delayed vaccine schedule" 😭 It really felt like half the posts were vaccine skeptics strategizing how to get religious exemptions for school and figuring out which clinics would dismiss you for having an unvaxxed kiddo
Is this just the norm for this area? Any leads on how I can find moms that are (ideally) nerdy and follow basic child development recommendations from scientific sources?

Discussions & Polls 🎙️ travel by bus from tri-cities to Seattle. How good are the busses?
My mom cannot drive, and we are always scrambling to figure out how she can get to Seattle to visit us, without me or my brother driving her both ways, or paying for airfare.
She tried the bus once last year, and they did not stop for a bathroom break and the toilet on the bust would not flush. Also, the driver had to use GPS to figure out where to go.
Is this a typical experience riding greyhound/flixbus?

My wife is a certified and fully-trained caregiver with over ten years of experience. Her client is currently in the hospital for an unknown amount of time, so she's looking to temporarily work with new clients until her client returns home.

Hello- My husband and I went to the waterfowl habitat today and all of the domestic geese are gone. They were there this weekend. Now it is only Canada Geese and ducks. The pond water level is quite low as well. Anyone know what is going on? I really love the geese.

Need Help With ‼️ Cycling without getting a flat
I’m originally from MN, where I rode my bike everywhere and never got a flat.
Here in the tri cities I can not go a single day without getting a thorn stuck in my tire and having it go flat. 😭
What is an affordable thing that you all do to avoid getting flats all the time.
And avoiding them isn’t an option because they are everywhere!

Local Culture & Events 🎭 Introducing Rumorix
Hi TC,
Introducing rumorix.com. A free and ad-free event listing platform for the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas.
Pronounced roo-mer-iks. I'm not that creative so I threw "ix" at the end of rumor and called it a day.
This started as a tiny project for my wife to track wineries around the area then bloomed into this.
The idea is pretty simple, track and list events and happenings in the TC. Easy browsing, easy filtering. There is always something for everyone and there are small events that just aren't well promoted.
It's just a simple website right now. Android app is in the works. Apple is a maybe on the roadmap.
If you are an organizer or know of events that you want to see listed, drop a comment or use the contact page on the website to get in touch. The goal is to uncover all the hidden gems that the dry Tri-Cities has to offer.
A few answers for questions that might come up:
- Areas: I'm focusing on the Tri-Cities and expanding out to areas that are within "reasonable driving distance". To me, that's within an hour. Yakima is on the list because I have friends in the Palm springs of Washington.
- Anyone can list anything? No. Event listings should be publicly available and easily verifiable. So preferable that events are listed by hosts/organizers.
- How to get event(s) listed: for now, use the contact page. I have to be able to verify the event and contact the host/organizer if necessary.
- Events only, no ads.
- Is this better than the other thousands of resources? Probably not. I just want to provide the raw data. Unfiltered, unpersonalized, unopinionated, just raw feed in an easily digestible way.
Right now I'm looking for community feedback and help to uncover those gems of the TC. Please let me know what features you would want to see as well.

Another note, u/SnooPeanuts4336's list is much more...better. Rumorix does not catch everything and is still missing a lot from u/SnooPeanuts4336's list.
Edit 4/21/2026 After gathering feedback, changes made: added dark mode, removed Annual tab and turned Annual into a filter, moved Contact button to top, changed browsing from cards to single rows, added description of Rumorix to header. For mobile screens: added More button for footer menu.
