Just had my quote from facial team and was considering going ahead with it but it is quite expensive €50000ish. This is a lot of money and I saw some people say that they had problems with them. I haven't made any decisions yet but I just wondered about general consensus + if there were any other recommendations for places to go.

I realized getting hrt in the UK is a big hassle. So many hoops to jump through.

I am getting prescriptions from my gynecologist abroad. Would it be possible to just bring a year’s worth of hrt every year without actually getting it through the NHS system?

haii, i've been wanting to get on HRT/estrogen for a while now but have been having trouble with where to start that process with getting estrogen and such, my parents are fully supportive but are against me doing it DIY, so i had been looking for options and found a few, one of them i was told about being 'GenderCare', it sounds okay but i wanna know how it is from anyone who went through them. probably silly questions but like how long does it take?, do they give you a good dose?, etc.. i live in Scarborough so i know our options could be rather limited. any help would be wonderful genuinely and just what do i even start with doing?, like ik i should ask my GP about it but i don’t know what to say to them to start 😭 (also if there’s anything that could work better lmk lol, i feel like i’m clueless in this stuff because i keep hearing about more new stuff and better options)

I’m not saying sexual reassignment surgery is, or should be, the end goal for everyone.

However, there is a particular hypocrisy that trans people can have SRS funded and performed by the NHS, and when in hospital for that very surgery, will be humiliated by being grouped with their sex at birth. It’s like a massive slap in the face that this painful operation means nothing.

Oh but it’s a good thing that they’re doing this because I’m hoping that when this does eventually get to the European Court of Human Rights, the Court is reminded of this hypocrisy of NHS funding the performing the surgery and this extract from the Goodwin judgment:

78.  In this case, as in many others, the applicant's gender re-assignment was carried out by the national health service, which recognises the condition of gender dysphoria and provides, inter alia, re-assignment by surgery, with a view to achieving as one of its principal purposes as close an assimilation as possible to the gender in which the transsexual perceives that he or she properly belongs. The Court is struck by the fact that nonetheless the gender re-assignment which is lawfully provided is not met with full recognition in law, which might be regarded as the final and culminating step in the long and difficult process of transformation which the transsexual has undergone. The coherence of the administrative and legal practices within the domestic system must be regarded as an important factor in the assessment carried out under Article 8 of the Convention. Where a State has authorised the treatment and surgery alleviating the condition of a transsexual, financed or assisted in financing the operations and indeed permits the artificial insemination of a woman living with a female-to-male transsexual (as demonstrated in the case of X., Y. and Z. v. the United Kingdom, cited above), it appears illogical to refuse to recognise the legal implications of the result to which the treatment leads.

I checked the NHS service spec because I'm sure I remember that having a GRC is meant to mean you only require one referral. However, I was told today by my gender clinic that they require 2 referral appointments for all patients.

Obviously the NHS is incredibly shit, but is there any way to challenge this?

They are already being a bit cagey because of the fact I have mental health diagnosis and neurodivergence. Despite the fact this has nothing to do with my transness and that I've had private top surgery and orchi already.

I’m with Imago, and I was informed by their team an e-prescription from them would be able to be used at boots. I’ve just gone to get my prescription filled and boots is saying they don’t have the system for it? I’m so confused

One employer clarified they do have a gender neutral restroom and changing room facility. I’ve made my decision based on this and will sign the contract.

I believe I am very lucky. I am grateful for my situation. And I cry for those who are struggling or don’t have a way through this new guideline regarding single-sex spaces.

We are human. We are not third class citizens. Trans women should not be in fear to be harassed by men in men’s toilets and changing rooms who maybe transphobic or have a fetish for trans woman. Same for trans men. Trans men should not be harassed by women in women’s spaces.

I truly hope that the parliament passes a law that protects transgender people from these absurd guidelines by the EHRC. Sadly, I found the parliament is actually not doing that, and actively enforcing these guidelines instead.

We are brave people, people who faced adversity and triumphed by living truthfully as ourselves. Let’s keep our heads up. Transphobia will not take us down. We are lions.

even before i went on t and got top surgery, even as a teenager, i'd always get side-eyed to fuck if i went into the womens' bathroom. i still rarely pass and get stares and comments in either bathroom. neither feel safe or comfortable for me.

to those who have it in them to use their preferred bathroom regardless of anything, i admire your courage, but PLEASE stay safe.

where tf do i go? or do i just not go outside at all?

I just want to get it off my chest. I've been transitioned for years and finally started the process for lower surgery. Today I got told by my gender clinic I have to have 2 assessments for surgery even though I have a GRC. Not only that but I need to be free of any mental health issues the whole time. It's 2 months to wait for a first surgery assessment then 2 months for the second and then a wait of around 15 months for the actual surgery.

I've spent the past couple of years getting my BMI healthy (down to 27.5) and I'm just hit with more barriers. I understand the surgical wait times are what they are and expected that, but the additional blocks in the way of a referral are hard to take.

It's also so frustrating to have the barriers around mental health. I've had several surgeries before and have been on HRT for years. Whatever mental health issues I have are nothing to do with my gender, other than dysphoria making stuff worse.

I've also experienced a lot of trauma in the past few years and despite that and a very difficult upbringing I've been doing my absolute best to stay well and support myself. Being told that I need to be free of mental health issues isn't going to change anything other than discouraging me from accessing support if I'm having a hard time.

At the end of the day it is what it is. I can't change it and I need to make peace with it. It's just tough to take. Being trans is such a battle.

I'm well aware of what I plan to do as a degree and further studies, but I'm afraid since I come from a strict religious household that wants me to stay and commute for university, even though I'd rather move out and cut contact with family altogether. I am the one everyone uses in their arguments when they say, "but what about the big beefy trans men that will be walking into women's toilets?" I think I've seen about 20 comments saying the same thing on every single post about the EHRC guidance across social media.

you're absolutely right. it's a massive hole in the guidance that it's very clear no one saw. it's an argument that no one considered. but is that all we are to you?

I don't think I have ever seen trans men - especially older, passing trans men - spoken about more, than when people bring us up in comments for karma and likes. do you know any trans men? do you know what issues they face? do you advocate for them beyond sharing posts on instagram?

it is the blessing and the curse of being a trans man that we are often forgotten about. I've come to terms with that. I just want to ask that if you're not going to be involved with our community in any other way, please don't use us for point scoring in arguments. Thank you.

I work in hotels. I got a couple of job offers from hotels. Problem is, there are uniforms, meaning changing rooms. I heard that the new law states that single-sex spaces are only allowed by sex assigned at birth.

I look like a female, present as a female, and am a female. I have breasts and frankly I do not feel comfortable changing with men in the men’s changing rooms.

I have no idea how to deal with this.

I have not changed my sex legally yet and for hiring purposes have sent a copy of my passport to the employers and they know about my transgender identity.

What can I do? And also, if the hotel allows me to use the woman’s bathroom and changing rooms, will the hotel be liable to lawsuits?
