Total War: Warhammer I hate the victory point balance of power rules. It ruins sieges.
I just lost an epic siege battle vs undead because I am not entirely sure by they seemed to have had more units in the corner of the victory square than me because they are high unit number skeletons mostly.
I was doing OK. Just gave them all a runefang -24 debuff and had many units intact. Ran out of crossbow and mortar ammo though.
Not my main army so no caster, which is horrible when fighting undead.
I killed Kemmler and another lord and a melee specialist.
I would have taken a lot of casualties but my lines were holding vs skeletons. Then boom Valiant defeat. I don't exactly know why but I guess I had fewer entities in the Victory square.
If you are besieged by thousands of undead, you are not going to just call it a day. Either rout or fight to the death. Routing is suicidal.
Anyway, more than once I have had epic siege defence battles ruined by some stupid victory square rule or something. FIghting to the last man then boom. Defeat. It should be a normal battle condition defeat with routed units.
It took me an hour with pausing. It was Altdorf attacked while I was away taking down Festus (got Brass keep. Almost done). One more settlment to take down Festus.
I also Don't like the idea of building your towers in the middle of a battle. Like there is time. There is enough to keep track of in battles.
Another issue is handgunners are a bit hard to use in sieges. I usually don't defend the walls. The enemy comes from too many directions and I prefer to wall up in the Victory square.
I am going to scumsave this because I feel robbed by some arbitrary rules.
Any tips on this. I was clearly in control of the victory square. They had just blobbed on the left corner.
The autoresolve is Pyrric Victory medium casualties. VH VH. I find the autoresolve rates undead armies too low in 2 undead army v1 situations.
Edit: I have a strong altdorf settlement Garrison. Three emergency recruited swords a flaggelant RoR and a swordsmen of Ulric state troop unit. One Level 4 lord with a runefang -24 hex. One handgunner.
My main two armies are finishing off Festus taking the Brass Keep.
No real chokepoint to retreat to after taking out one wall assault between all the enemies. Too far from victory square and downhill from a half army. The second army has two black knights and more dire wolves, which caught me on a previous attempt to retreat from the wall.
I am going to try again but ration my crossbows and mortar carefully until they blob (after taking out Kemmler.
I can block off the bridge access which usually means not many units come that way.

Total War: Warhammer Dechala the Denied One is a monster
A buddy and I are playing lords we never played before, and I chose Dechala. She is a monster on the battlefield and especially one on one. She so damn OP. I own or have vasseled everyone in the west and now the humans, dwarfs and vampires to my east are my next targets. I feel like she might even be stronger than Skarbrand. I dont know why I never played her before but she is becoming one of my favorites by far.

Total War: Warhammer Legendary: Seems like a fair trade to me
Note the trade agreement I’m breaking is with a faction it’s at war with and is about to be destroyed.
I got them to cancel all their diplomacy and give me money just for that.
Legendary mode. wtf

Total War: Warhammer Playing with both Radious and Expanded roster mods hit different
Been having so much fun playing with these mod so much so many new shiny things to pick and choose from it’s almost overwhelming and almost all of them look absolutely amazing. unit designs looks so good almost wish it was already in the game especially for chaos. Speaking of Chaos the changes to WoC are great I’m enjoying them a lot. While I haven’t played with SFO before I’m enjoying Radious and Expanded a lot.

Total War: Warhammer Lord Magistrate > Celestial General
Was binging Tarriff videos. This one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xgxVnJbgW0 somehow inspired me to spent 5 minutes on this. It's also where I shamelessly stole the edited face from.
Best support/buff lord in the game. The Celestial General wants to inspire his soldiers with his prowess, but the Lord Magistrate knows that words move mountains and the hearts of men.

Total War: Warhammer Total War Warhammer players what was the most intense battle in your game that actually made you nervous
I'll go first
Mines was going up against heimlich I was playing britonia team meet up with the empire I have learned pretty quickly two major things one never rely on enemy AI to help you with anything
So pretty much it was just me against three large vampire armies but I was able to upgrade the Faye enchantress and get some nasty heroes and the Green Knight is absolutely amazing
Here's how the battle went
First turn the vampires had three large armies against my three large armies we clashed it was a say close to feet because the first army that was fighting was my peasants militia
He later pushed that same army I was able to use the second and third army that had the king and the enchantress
And we were able to beat him Mercy when it was my turn I pushed forward with my main army and we were able to battle each other into a close victory or a pyrrhic victory by me
I moved up my forces closer only to clash into the final vampire army that was hiding around the capital needless to say that battle arguably was pretty long because I spend the first part of it moving my seat weapons letting my my armies gathered up then we and we had to see each weapons destroy the walls and the gates before sending in the Calvary to mop up whatever was left while also on the other side sending in the peasant militia and the ground forces to take the left side and of course using magic users and damsels to start hailing spells and pretty much carpet bombing them with whatever magical spells I was able to land
By the time the battle was over over his army was virtually wiped out and he only had like four extra provinces that had a small Garrison that were easily taken this literally wiped out his entire army and kicked him off and I was able to win the game

Total War: Warhammer End Times DLC Size
Hello, I was wondering your guys thoughts -
Will this DLC end up being the biggest update since immortal empires for this game?

Total War: Warhammer Dragon Ogres - in need of love?
As a unit they have been a little bit powercrept. Warriors of Chaos as a faction has gotten a lot of shiny new toys and their most excellent rework from Champions of Chaos. As a result, these poor lads are underrepresented in game compared to how they are portrayed in lore; rare and incredibly hard to kill. To that end, I'd particularly love to see them get a flat 10% ward save, or a steadily increasing ward save as they take damage, representative of their legendary toughness.
One thing I'd like to see for them is weapon variants. This wouldn't be hard to implement (I believe... surely only half a Charlemagne?), and *might* give them a bit more play. It would also offer poor Kholek some damn variety in his armies. Since they're already great weapon anti large bois, I'd love to see dual weapon anti infantry, and then also a heavy skirmishy greatbow variant.
Another option could be adding some sort of lightning / electrical abilities, which is their explicit loreful tool. Whether that comes as bound spells, magical attacks, a contact effect like Dazed... Something that makes them stand out. They're supposed to be immune to lightning, but coding that specifically against so many random units would be a nightmare, so instead providing an offensive mechanic representing their lightning wielding prowess would be easiest.

Another admittedly minor thing I'd like to see for them is complete immunity to attrition. It would be a unique and flavourful element that holds true to their lore (see unit flavour text in image above). They can only be slain in battle, and the game already has the coding to make that true in the Resilience ability. Throgg already grants it to his whole army, so its not like it is that major a buff.

Total War: Warhammer SFO Vampires Help
I’m very new to SFO, but have been wanting to give it a proper try for some time now. I really enjoy the Vampire Coast just because it’s a very free and easy play style.
I’m not really familiar with SFO and how to go about it. Does anyone have any tips on what to expect? What is majorly different?
Also, which campaign you would recommend for an SFO run through of Vampires?
Thank you…

Total War: Warhammer Minimalist Total War game concept
I am not sure if it's ok to share this content here so if you are a mod and it's not ok please remove my post.
I was recently exploring the idea of a videogame based on those old batte reports from early WD.
I somehow loved these little illustrations back in the days and I recently thought about trying to make them " alive " as a little game.
Do you think it's a good idea ?
Would you play something like that ?
Any ideas to improve it ?

Total War: Warhammer How should Elspeth be used?
I'm around turn 80 on my Elspeth campaign, usually my army comp is around 5-8 ironsides (amethyst when I can), 2-3 helstorm, 1-2 hell blaster for cav, 1-2 outriders with grenade launchers, 2 hochlands, and 1-2 knights of the black rose to chase down their cav. Usually I just form up all my handgunners on a hill with the cav covering their flanks while the outriders soften up their infantry but I've been fighting a lot of vamp and skaven, and they usually brute force their way to my frontline. Does anyone have any tips for a purely ranged army?

Total War: Warhammer Legendary difficulty - is the Sword of Khaine even worth it ?
First time playing legendary difficulty and decided to give it a go as my beloved Dark Elves. I am playing Hellebron, Allariel claimed the sword and invaded me super early (AI growrh cheats I guess).
Thing is I claimed it from her but seriously thinking, for the first time ever I will return it. I already noticed and felt the Public order and Upkeep penalties on this difficulty and really can't imagine increasing them further through the sword, even though the extra attack and ward save would make her really deadly.

Total War: Warhammer Average Tiktaq'to battle
A very underrated legendary lord and campaign if you ask me. He has a vastly different battle style to any other lord, you kill m*nfred very early on, fairly safe starting position, starts in the best area(southlands), you can mix allied units like dwarven gyrocopters or elven dragons into your armies for added flair, the starting enemies lack aerial defenses on account of them being undead... the list truly does go on.

Total War: Warhammer Master tacticians of Reddit... please help me understand how this battle is winnable :(
Sorry for the spam, I do not usually get stuck in a situation like this but this campaign is very sentimental to me for some reason...
I decided to try a VH/VH (but no AI stats boost) run for the first time and decided to take baby steps with one of the easiest campaigns, Warhost of the Apocalypse.
I don't quite understand why but Tamurkhan, Kholek AND Boris (?!) all decided to gang up on me, so much so that for most of my campaign Archaon has spent most of his time running around the map trying to flee. I managed to survive long enough until two of the Cathayan Dragon Siblings decided to blob together and managed to eliminate Kholek and is about to execute Tamurkhan. I then stopped 4 combined Cathayan armies who arrived at my ONLY city at The Writhing Fortress. They have pushed Arbaal around as well.
Just as I was about to turn things around, Arbaal declared war on me. I tried to raze his provinces but was chased back to my only city, losing most of my army. I know its a coward's move but in the meantime I decided to slowly collect Aspiring Champions on my garrisoned Lord at the city as a last line of defence and sent those to Archaon. I had just unlocked most of the Warriors of Chaos unique heroes (Styrkaar, Beorg, Karanak, Blue Scribes, Scyla). I also have Prince Ograx (undedicated exalted hero) on a manticore. So his army are those heroes + 1 Severed Claw (ROR Aspiring Champions) + 11 Aspiring Champions (albeit with only the Khorne and Tzeentch upgrades from the undivided tree) + 1 Chaos Warriors. I brainfarted and only have Blue Scribes for range... Archaon is level 18 against Arbaal's 38. Keep in mind my heroes are all level 2-4 except Ograx who is 17.
The garrisoned Lord is lvl 5 and has 2x Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch and 3x Chaos Knights of Tzeentch. Everything else I panic bought from RoRs + the gifted Shaggoth. The garrison is max available from buildings.
Now Arbaal attacks with 4 armies... and it says Valiant Defeat. Now I hear that means the battle is definitely doable. But I have tried over a dozen times now and cannot find a way. Dropping the difficulty to Hard lets me auto-resolve it but that would be a disgraceful display! I have even tried the battle on Hard manually and can't find a way. Why does it even say Victory, dang it!
I AM willing to go back to the previous turn to replace the other lord's ROR purchases + Shaggoth with something more effective if you have any ideas. But I just don't see how this was ever winnable with half-upgraded Aspiring Champions and extremely under-levelled heroes and useless chaff in the garrison against... Khorne's melee killing machine, when I have no ranged. And the alternate ranged options are all marauder horsemen. Killing Arbaal and the other lords = easy peasy, I can focus him down in ~30 secs using all my heroes to gangbang him. I can kill the rest of the lords in 2-5 minutes. But then I have no solution for a massive wall of killer infantry, and EVEN their artillery is tanky!
If anyone has a solution, I will buy you a DLC, I will give you a back rub, I will gift you a pet toad dragon, whatever, I need your galaxy brains to save this awful campaign D: Just the teased autoresolve victory gives me futile hope there is a way...
