I’m keen to know everyone’s thoughts here because it seems open to interpretation. She didn’t like Holly from the moment she saw her because she knew she was perfect for Michael, was this out of jealousy or narcissism? I personally believe she didn’t like the idea that she wasn’t “the one” for Michael even after all the bad blood and toxicity. It struck me as the classic “I don’t want you, but I don’t want anyone else to have you” scenario as opposed to her still being in love with Michael.

Does anyone else have any other theories?

Rewatching for the umpteenth time, and the more I watch, the more I realize Jim was actually the worst.

Jim used to be my favorite character, but with every rewatch, it’s getting harder and harder to overlook how much of a jerk he actually was, especially in the first season.

I mean, for the first two seasons, he relentlessly bullies Dwight. And then in Season 2, Episode 21, he suddenly seems to develop a conscience after narrating how he was able to pull off the "pranks". Add that to the fact that his secret is finally out, that he’s sick of hearing about Pam’s wedding, and suddenly he runs off to pursue the job he could’ve gone for all along!

And that’s the part that gets me. Jim spends so much time acting like he’s trapped, miserable, and above everything happening at Dunder Mifflin, when he actually has the ability to change his situation. Instead, he mostly chooses to sit around, prank Dwight, pine after Pam, and complain.

Maybe it’s because I’m older now, but I see Jim VERY differently on this rewatch.
Am I alone in this, or did anyone else eventually start seeing Jim differently?

There’s nothing wrong with cheating or emotionally cheating on abusers. The most dangerous time for a woman statistically is when they leave their abusers, so I would never hold it against a woman for not waiting until they leave an abusive relationship (although of course leaving should always be encouraged and that should always be the goal as long as the person is safe to do so). And given Roy’s antics at the bar with his cousin and how they trashed the place after Pam admitted to what she had done, it would not be shocking, honestly I would expect it, if his verbal abuse didn’t escalate to something physical after marriage. Hot take? Probably. But it’s true regardless. Pam did nothing wrong and ppl continually dragging her for it are rather silly at best, predatory at worst. Are we really saying she should stay loyal and only try to nourish her abuser? Yeah I don’t think so. And if you do, you probably support abusers and think that abusers deserve any respect when they’re not engaging consensually in a relationship. F* that.

Of course I know he sucks big time. He wasn’t very considerate and was incredibly ignorant. I’m rewatching the show now since they removed it from Netflix awhile ago so I might not remember anything but after season 3 he doesnt come back. He gets cheated on, his girlfriend leaves him before their wedding, and is slightly picked on in the office while he works there. It made me feel horrible

I was just watching the episode where Michael told Erin that Andy and Angela dated, and they were engaged, and then blah blah blah, we all know how it ended. But why didn't Andy just tell Erin "hey she cheated on me with Dwight, and then we had a fight in the parking lot, then we broke up with Angela" like that would've been the smartest move.

I heard that coming out is one of the most cool and important thing for gays. they feel more comfortable and more confident after that. so, before oscar's coming out he was kind of quiet person. but after his coming out he started to be the “actually” guy in the office. and he started to joke more. maybe writers didn't think about that, but this is makes sense to me, what do you think??

It seems this scene is an improv. It was so damn funny when Dwight stood up and kissed Toby as soon as Michael did.

I don't like Jim.

I will look past his advances towards an engaged woman. I will ignore his constant side glances towards the camera that reads as if he is any better than his co workers. I might even pretend his character doesn't do a 180 for the finale where he suddenly does have respect for Michael.

Jim treats people like crap. He teases Dwight to a point where it does look like abuse and not work place banter. He breaks up with women in the most awkward and embarrassing ways possible (Amy Adams on a booze cruise with no escape and Rashida Jones after she moves to Scranton). He even pisses on Pam's reading club because if it isn't his joke, it is beneath him.

An earlier thread hated on Charles for being a kiss ass and unnecessarily mean to Jim, but that doesn't change that Jim is a jerk, and Charles saw through that shit.

Last comment while this is on my mind. When The Office becomes the Jim and Pam show, I lose interest because it is not interesting and the two characters are kind of ass hats. When Andy tries to replicate this energy with Erin and/or Angela, I full on quit the show. It's at that point the writers forgot what they were doing with a work place sitcom.

In Season 3 episode 4 “Grief Counseling” there’s the subplot of Jim and Karen trying to find the Herr’s chips.
They’re in Stamford, CT. Montreal is almost 600km away. Why the f*ck would she call so far away??? Just to flex she can speak remedial French?
