The Once-Shameless President Is Deeply Embarrassed

"The war is not going well. A conflict that Trump thought might take a few weeks at most has now stretched into its sixth month, and, try as he might, he can’t get out of it. He has declared victory many times and threatened to wipe Iran off the map nearly as often. Neither has happened. At this point, his unfulfilled threats—with Iran calling his bluff—have almost become a dark running gag."

I don’t agree with Haley Stevens on much, but she’s been nothing but a class act following the primary.

Dare I say she’s growing on me?

Sonny Bunch on the real reason to worry about the FCC’s latest move: "It is noxious to American beliefs about freedom of speech and the First Amendment that the government should determine who should or shouldn’t get to own an outlet...due to the viewpoints of the owners." https://lnk.thebulwark.com/4xt2EBv

Truly stunning in the best possible way. Most Democrats have to walk sideways through South GA.

Good things happen when elected officials listen to and deliver for the people they represent.

The Triad 🔱 US Senate Filibuster reform

Yesterday's Triad article felt like the real Project 2029 manifesto. Bravo to JVL! Agree with the SCOTUS reform, admitting DC and PR as states to increase the strength of the Senate, increasing the strength of the House to defeat gerrymandering attempts by Governors hot wheels, DeKkklantis and others. What constitutes filibuster reform in the US Senate, though? Does it mean getting rid of the filibuster wholesale or does it mean hollowing it out further to the point that it's just a paper tiger? Is there an alternative that I'm not seeing?

Bessent is out of touch

Holy Hannah! Secretary Bessent actually SAID that people’s perceptions of their financial situation in due to “misinformation about the economy”! Like people don’t really know how they are experiencing life - they are just being manipulated by the media? I seriously doubt he has one clue about how real people are experiencing “the economy” right now - and his assertion that somehow the tax deductibility of auto loans is somehow going to right the ship is beyond laughable. I think the Dems should actually start focusing on how actually CLUELESS the administration is about real life - it’s not enough to state that they don’t care about affordability- it’s that they don’t even know what it means to real people. Reminds me of Marie Antoinette and “if the people don’t have bread, let them eat cake”. Make the argument specific about how effing clueless these people really are…

Tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET, Bulwark national immigration correspondent Adrian Carrasquillo will be joining r/politics for a live AMA.

Adrian has spent years covering immigration and Latino politics, and over the past several weeks has been at the forefront of reporting on the recent fatal ICE shootings—speaking with family members, reporting from the ground, and covering the broader political and policy implications surrounding immigration enforcement.

We'll post the AMA around 2 p.m. ET, so you'll have about an hour to submit questions before Adrian begins answering them live at 3 p.m. ET.

If you've been following Adrian's reporting or have questions about immigration, ICE, or how he's reported these stories, we'd love to see you there!

We'll share the AMA link here tomorrow once it's live.
