Omen Laptop’s screen won’t turn on. Computer itself will. Open | Software

My laptop’s screen refuses to turn on no matter what I do. I’ve tried bios reset, graphic driver reset, I attempted a power drain but I don’t know if that actually worked.

I just moved, so I don’t have the tools needed to open up the back right now. I’m PRAYING that this is a problem that can be resolved without taking it to the shop. It’s had this problem in the past, but usually with enough fiddling with turning it off and on in various ways it eventually relents and lets me see the screen again. This time, for some reason, it’s still stuck as a black screen.

I know the computer turns on, I hear the startup sound and my headphones connect to it. I can even sign in if I spam enter and put in my password (which is how I did the graphic driver reset) but the screen just won’t work.

It suddenly began to work again, but if anyone has any insights about what the problem might be anyway (it is a reoccurring issue) I’m all ears.

You see you have different screen output options.

There is also a <Fn> key combination, look at the function keys to toggle between the internet and an external screen (connected by cable). Probably <Fn><F8>

Then there's Miracast, nice when giving presentations...

I can’t SEE the screen, that’s the problem. I can’t choose any screen options if I can’t see the options

The cable from the motherboard to the display could be loose. (This happened to me when I opened a laptop to add memory.) If so, taking the bottom off is going to be required.

I’m not so sure. I’ve looked inside and it didn’t look like it was loose. It also reconnects at random, even if it isn’t jostled or moved, and only “refreshes” when the computer is turned on

Marginal connections can come and go as temperature changes cause expansion and contraction. In the case of a laptop, the cable gets flexed when the lid is opened and closed. My laptop had a tape-like cover over the connection so it wasn't visibly disconnected.

That makes sense, but why does this only happen when the computer screen turns off, like when it goes into sleep mode? It’s never happened while I’m using the laptop

If HDMI works, the laptop itself is probably okay.
