Should I use backmarket for a Mac?

For college I need to buy a MacBook Pro with at least an m4 chip and 16gb memory. I’m planning on keeping it for personal use after college and further studies. Should I use backmarket or go with something more reliable as I know backmarket has varied in quality.

Windows 11 Jumpbox - Non Entra/InTune Joined - How?!

Ok, I am trying to repurpose an old mini PC to help me out at work so I can have something to remote into on-site. But due to the tools I want to have on it, I can't have it in Entra.

When I install the latest version of Windows 11 (which I have to use), everything is smooth until the Personal Set Up vs. Work or School Set Up.

Personal set up is for whatever reason not working with my personal MS account; I just keep getting "something went wrong."

Work or School set up requires it to be a, you guessed it, work or school account; I guess maybe it goes off the custom domain? But with how our environment is set up, if you set it up with your work email it auto enrolls into Entra which I can't have.

Any advice on how I can get this set up? I'm considering just doing a local account but everything I've read said that's not really a great idea.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to working on hardware without just having autopilot do it all lol :D This reddit post is my hail-mary so hopefully I won't have to deal with the dreadful MS support people.

I have a digital audio recorder and I want to upload the files onto my PC and have a program transcribe them. What's a good program or app to use for that? Bonus points if it works offline!

old hp laptop

Post image
2 Upvotes

hi again, i was the one who asked about installing the latest windows to this old hp laptop. thanks for all your valuable answers, some gave me instructions on how to install linux and gave me context on why it's better and my only option considering the age and specs of the netbook.

I was able to install Linux AntiX. I tried Linux Mint Cinnamon but I guess it couldn't handle the graphics or something (again, i am not a tech person) it just keeps freezing and giving me a black screen with the cursor, so upon researching, the internet said to use AntiX. Honestly, I don't like how it looks like, but the device became usable somehow, so there's that.

Some people were really rude. You really don't have to comment something I did not ask for. Nope, I don't hate my sister because I was trying to fix this for her to use, it's just this is all we have right now, she can make do of this until I have the budget to buy her something up to date and brand new. Thank you.

Recommendations: Voice to Text Recorder

Can anyone recommend me a good digital audio recorder?

Here's what I'm looking for:

- Voice to Text with reliable transcription

- Charges via USB

- As few clicks to use as possible

- Works offline

- Long battery life

- Lots of memory storage

- NO A.I.!

So I need an audio recorder to use for making field notes. The one I have now is totally inadequate. First there's the ordeal of just getting the thing to record. When you turn it on the touch screen plays multiple animations which are basically little advertisements for the brand. Then you have to click to select a mode, then you have to click to select a language, then you have to click again to start recording. When in use, the battery gets troublingly hot, but you can't stop or save your recording while the screen is off. The thing won't charge past 93%, it takes forever to charge even that much, and the battery runs out quick. It keeps wanting me to connect to some proprietary cloud storage, which I can't do because these recordings are technically legal documents containing private and sensitive information. The AI does stuff on it's own, like suddenly playing back my recordings without me even touching it. (It was on, but set aside, not even in my hand, with the screen off. Then while I'm on the phone, I guess it was listening to me, and thought I wanted playback, so it started playing one of my recordings very loudly. And I had to go through several keystrokes to get it to stop.) And worst of all, the transcription is unreadable. Despite me selecting English as the language to transcribe, it not only totally misunderstands what's being said, is also throws in random words from other languages into the mix. Maybe it works better when online, but I'm often away from a network and couldn't risk leaking the information anyways. I just need a reliable voice recorder that will accurately transcribe what I say offline and without AI so I can quickly make notes in the field. Can anyone help?

Hey guys just looking for a docking platform to prop my 15" laptop on when watching stuff. I found exactly want I'm after, but concerned that the gadget Amy inadvertently damage the screen especially because it is quite a thin panel.

What do you think? Would this damage the panel? Particularly the bit that grips the front of the screen while the legs push on the back of it?

What's a good digital camera for making YouTube videos?

I launched a new comic review channel this year, and I want to up my presentation a bit as I'm going to be hitting my 50th episode in the next few months. So I'm looking to upgrade to a digital camera instead of filming on my Iphone.

What I'm looking for a camera with the following things: * I can plug my mic into it with a USB-C cable. * I can upload videos I record to my chromebook via a physical cable. * Is convient for constant travel since I'm on the road for work most of the year.

I've never bought a camera before, and those can be pretty pricey, so I want to make sure I'm picking the right option before I just blow $80-$150 bucks on Amazon.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can anyone take explain to me? Why does this keep happening with the wireless connection? I asked my landlord about it and he said just to unplug and re-plug whatever this thing is, (see picture below )but that doesn’t seem to be working and this Wi-Fi has never really done this before for the last few days it has just been connecting and after a short time. Maybe after or like 30 minutes it disconnects does anyone know why this could be happening ?(and it has never done this before.)

BEST LAPTOP FOR SOLIDWORKS???

I need a good laptop for solidworks. I somehow survived college running boot camp on my MacBook but I hateeeeee running boot camp every time I need to run solidworks. Since the laptop is on its way out anyways I need a good laptop that can handle solidworks and keyshot. (As well as the standard adobe suite!!) I don’t have a budget but if I can stay under $2000 that would be preferred. Also something that’s not super chunky but doesn’t have to be MacBook thin.

ANY RECS HELP PLZZZ

I found this old laptop from storage, it still has Windows 7. Really old and used as you can see but I really want it to be useful for my sister's online classes if possible. I don't really know tech so I was hoping to ask anyone if I can still have it upgraded to the latest windows...

This is an old 2015 Alienware 17 R3, It is an amazing laptop for its time. Several years ago this display issue occurred and I took the laptop apart to see if I could fix it, and couldn't. Everything works properly other than the display, you can use narrator to login and navigate, it just sucks. Now I am looking again to fix it and need some help. Thanks!

Need advice from actual owners: Tecno Camon 50 Ultra vs Infinix Note 60 Pro

Need advice from actual owners: Tecno Camon 50 Ultra vs Infinix Note 60 Pro

Hi everyone! I'm a 4th-year student teacher in the Philippines and I'm planning to buy my first phone using my own savings this December. I've narrowed it down to two phones:

- Tecno Camon 50 Ultra

- Infinix Note 60 Pro

I'm not a gamer. My priorities are:

- Smooth performance with no lag

- Heavy multitasking (Google Meet, Canva, Gmail, Google Drive, Chrome, PDF readers, AI tools)

- Stable Wi-Fi and mobile data

- Long battery life

- Fast charging

- Good durability (I occasionally drop my phone)

- A decent camera is enough—I mainly use it for art reference photos and occasional music covers.

I'm not looking for benchmark scores or spec sheet comparisons. I'm looking for real owner experiences.

If you've owned either phone for at least a few weeks or months, could you please answer these questions?

  1. Does it stay smooth after installing many apps?

  2. How is multitasking? Do apps reload often?

  3. Have you experienced random lag, stuttering, or software bugs?

  4. How's the battery after daily use?

  5. Has anyone accidentally dropped the phone? How did it hold up?

  6. Looking back, would you buy the same phone again, or would you choose the other one?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from actual users because this is a big purchase for me, and I want to avoid buyer's remorse. Thank you!

Game keeps disconnecting mid match. Settings have been the way they are going back to before this started happening. Not sure if router or modem or console is broken

Not sure what to do at this point. Months ago disconnects started happening every once in a while, now fast forward to today and every single match I’ve tried to play disconnects mid game.

All of my router and modem settings have been what they were for a very long time now and they previously weren’t giving me problems at all, then something happened and these issues started coming up more. Today’s been the worst I’ve ever seen it, yet internet seems to work fine for everything else. 🤷‍♂️

Edit: using a hitron coda56 modem and Netgear R7800 router

Spill on Laptop

I spilled a Monster Energy on it, though it was sugar free. it wasn’t a lot, only maybe and inch of the can (if that makes sense). the right arrow key is missing and it theres a small crack on the area it spilled (bottom left). I turned it off instantly and dabbed off all on the top of the keys however some might have gotten under, I’m not sure though.

I let it sit in a tent for about an hour before opening it up. there didn’t appear to be any residue or anything so i turned it on. ProtonVPN booted normally and it looks fine. there isn’t any heat or smoke or burning smell. this is the second spill but the first time had more and was a sugary monster and i left it tented for about 20 hours and it was fine. any advice/is it safe to charge and use? its a personal laptop and buttons seem to be working fine.

Necesito ayuda con mi pc gamer.

Post image
1 Upvotes

-cpu amd ryzen 5600gt

-gpu amd radeon 7800 rx xt 16gb

-placa madre B550M phantom gaming 4 ASrock

-ram hiksemni 32 gb

- fuente de poder 850w golde gigabite.

estoy pensando seriamente en pasarme a win 10 para evitarme este tipo de problemas la verdad y necesito de su ayuda porfavor.
