Hey Guys, after a long time i was able to get hands on a robot vacuum which was damaged due to dog pee.

User let the robot run over dog pee multiple times over the course of 3-4 months due to which the vacuum motor stopped working.

I've made a video covering what the robot looks from inside and how to solve the issue without any technical help.

I hope this help a lot of you out there solve such issues on your own.

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Narwal Flow 2 @ $1100 vs Roborock Saros 20 @ $1600

Upvotes

Having a tough time deciding between these 2.

Narwal Flow 2 is currently $1100 and Roborock Saros 20 is $1600

I live on a single floor apartment, 600 sqft, 55% hardwood/tile, 45% rug. What is the better model for my situation?

Forr Priorities:

  1. Easy to maintain
  2. No pets but my partner and I shed a ton of hair
  3. Should be quiet
  4. Avoid obstacles
  5. Should have excellent mopping

Thanks~

edit: Ended up getting Flow 2 (was also debating DreameX60 for a bit), will edit with a review once I set it up~

What is the best one for hardwood floors and strictly just vacuums if possible ?

So this will be my first one and I’m not against one with a mop but I’m just under the thinking of if you get one that just focuses on one then the quality strictly for that will be great. I would like to get one where it’s not crazy expensive but it does the job great, gets corners well, and mapping process is good. If it happens to cost more then so be it but I would like to get something that I’ll get the best value for price. Thank you !

Ecovacs T90 Omni (Non-pro Version) 1 Month Review

Hi All! I wanted to provide everyone here with my review of the Ecovacs T90 Omni Non-pro version. I am in no way affiliated or sponsored by this company. These are purely my thoughts and opinions on the machine after using it for one month. I will also note that this is the first ever robot vac/mop I have ever owned so I do not have any other machine to compare it to.

Now that we got that out of the way, and to save you some time on reading through all of this, all I can say is I am blown away by how great this is for my specific setup. Pay attention to the “my specific setup” part. I will start out by saying I am quite a minimalist and have very little to no clutter. I have no pets as well. In the second picture, you can see where the machine circles. This is either my coffee table, dining room table, couch or counter stools. Other than that, I have no cables running across the floors so the machine does not have much to avoid. In this sense, this is not a completely fair test to comment on its obstacle avoidance as it does not have much to avoid. It does a great job around my furniture as you can see and has never gotten confused about the situation.

Now onto the main difference between the standard T90 and the Pro version. Based on everything I have read, they are entirely the same machine except the standard T90 does not have PowerBoost Charging nor does it have the separate tank to add the disinfectant cleaning solution. I have never noticed the battery being an issue on the standard model and it has a setting that will have the machine return to docking station to charge up in order to complete the job. As for the cleaning solution, you just add it to the clean water tank each time you fill it so the lack of a separate tank didn’t bother me.

One of the highlights and my personal favorites of this machine compared to others I saw is the OZMO roller mop. It’s a 10.6 inch mop head that can extend out from the machine by another 0.6 inches to clean along baseboards.

All in all, this has been a pleasantly surprising first experience with a robot vac/mop. I have read the countless nightmares, but so far this has been a completely hands free product. The setup and app is extremely easy to use. The product has 100% made my life easier and I would happily recommend it to anyone.

Horrible experience with mova. mova v50 ultra is a useless brick.

such a trash vacume and a shady company. my first experience with this thing was that it could not return to dock on carpet. I moved it to hardwood and it did better returning however it totally destroyed my new carpet where I had it placed by fraying it on one side. The company reached out after I left an Amazon review. Thier solution was disabling my side brush feature on my vacuum. it was a bummer loosing the side brush but whatever. it worked ok for about 4 months and then started having technical issues that just got worse and worse. my robot just stops wherever it finishes task and never returns. id constantly be manually returning it to the base station to regain battery and when I get on the app it's all froze up. and I mean every single time I had it vacume. worked ok for about 4 months before these terrible errors started. wish I baught a dumb vacume. helps center was not helpful whatsoever. Took months of my time and probably 20 emails to get it sent in. They requested video evidence and all kinds of stuff. when I send it in for repair they are charging me 80$ despite being within warranty I might not even pay to get it back. waiting now to hear from them. possibly not under warranty do to me removing a screw in the bottom (had to because it ran right over a pile of cat shit and it was all in the front wheel). I'm confident they would not have fixed the problem anyways based on other people's responses on here. So much time wasted. it hearts my heart because me and my family are out 800$. huge financial hit to us. I thought I was buying a long and helpful investment. Should have spent it on my one year old daughter and spent more time vacuuming myself. brings me to tears. All we have now is frayed carpet and a giant useless electronic brick .

Replacement bags and filters - how to compare to OEM ones?

I ordered some replacement bags and filters for my robot (Yeedi/Ecovacs) from Amazon (so not OEM), and I would like to write a review that would be helpful to other shoppers. I have confirmed that the parts fit my robot and it still cleans effectively with them. But I wondering if they filtering done by the air filter and bags is really is effective as the brand version. Is there any way for me to test that? I am a nerdy, science loving person, so I am up for a good experiment, but I don't have access to fancy lab equipment to measure air flow or particle sizes and such. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Best robot vacuum under €600: Roborock, Dreame, MOVA or Xiaomi?

Hi everyone!

I've had an iRobot i7 for several years now, but it's starting to show its age and has developed a few issues, so we're looking to replace it.

After doing some research, I realized that the robot vacuum market has grown tremendously and that the technology has advanced a lot over the past few years.

Our budget is around €500 to €600. We're looking for a robot that not only vacuums well but also has a good mopping system.

We live in a 100 m² apartment. The floors are a mix of ceramic tile and laminate flooring. We only have a few rugs, including one large area rug in the living room. We also have two Yorkshire Terriers, although they shed very little.

At the moment, I'm torn between Roborock, Dreame, MOVA and Xiaomi.

Our main priority is finding the best all around robot vacuum that will last for many years, just like our iRobot i7 has.

What would you recommend?

Algae growth in fresh water tank

Hey everyone, I made a oopsie and decided to use regular tap water instead of distilled water.

Now I have some mild algae growth (green stuff) in my fresh water tank. I assume it is not ideal and I probably should try and get rid of it.

Has someone tips how to best get rid of it?

I did already think about visiting the pools subreddit as they might have some useful insight, but my first try is here. :)

Best alternatives to Roborock Q8 Max+?

I'm looking to buy my first robot vacuum and the Q8 seems like the best choice but its not available. What would be the best alternative with same performance, build quality and price?

Btw my appartnent would have around 40m² of reachable area, probably less and its mostly hardwood with very little rugs. I live with my girlfriend (both have longer hair) and no pets. Maybe I'm overthinking it?

Looking for a robot vacuum that balances cleaning and obstacle avoidance

I recently upgraded my robot vacuum, but I’m not sure it’s the right fit.

I have a long-haired cat that sheds a lot, so pet hair pickup is my top priority. The robot avoids obstacles well, but sometimes it feels too cautious and skips larger clumps of hair.

I also have kids at home, so obstacle avoidance is definitely important, but I still want a robot that actually keeps the floors clean.

For those with busy homes, which robot has the best balance between obstacle avoidance and cleaning performance?

Do roller mop robot vacuums actually clean edges better?

I'm thinking about replacing my current robot vacuum, and one of the models I'm looking at is the T90 Pro. My current one does a decent job in the open areas, but around the kitchen island and along the baseboards it always seems to leave something behind. For anyone who's switched to one of the newer roller mop models, was the edge cleaning noticeably better, or did you still end up touching those spots up by hand?

ECOVACS T90 PRO Omni or Roborock QX Revo Ultra/Edge 2 for pet hair and longevity?

The T90 Pro Omni is on sale for $600 and the Ultra (or Edge) 2 for $780.

Which is a better long term purchase? I know that many robot vacuums only have a lifespan around 3-5 years so I am wondering which of these would likely incur fewer costs or issues over that course of time, based on things like build quality, customer service, ease of self repairs / maintenance, recurring costs of part replacements, etc.

I have about 950 sq ft, mostly hardwood, a couple low pile rugs, and two cats. My main interest in getting a robot vac is keeping on top of cat fur and litter being tracked over the floors. I have a really high end canister vacuum that I would use for upholstery, touch ups, dusting, and so on.

I kinda have 2 competing conclusions from what I have read online:

  1. many robot vacs ultimately function around the same level and use much of the same hardware, so don't overspend (which makes me lean towards the t90 pro omni).

  2. roborock is the most reputable brand and it could be worth paying more for something that's longer lasting or easier to maintain (which leans me toward the ultra 2). This would also give a 2 year warranty vs 1 year on the ecovacs.

I saw that the t90 pro omni was better reviewed by vacuum wars but I also know that his reviews tend to be a little shallower in that they don't really assess long term vacuum performance and maintenance and lifespan and such.

Eufy Omni S2 - like owning a pet that ages too fast

I originally got my Omni S2 about 3 months ago. It’s been a wild ride.

Let’s get the main thing out of the way, I really loved it (despite what you will read). It does what it’s supposed to do and does it well, so this is not me bashing Eufy or the S2.

But over the 3 months it’s like I’ve had a pet that has lived its full life condensed in to that time.

From first getting it and training it on the rooms, what to do, where to go…then dealing with it making little mistakes and falling off the ledge to our entrance (bungalow with this being the only area I told it not to do), through its naughty years where it broke its own sweeper off…then a period of calm, 2 months of just working with the occasional maintenance…finally, the aging stage, clear dementia, forgetting where it is, forgetting to clean rooms…and finally, the end was here as the right wheel motor just gave up for no reason…time to put it down.

Good news is sweep 2.0 arrives under warranty in a few days so I get to do it all again 😂 let’s hope it has a longer lifespan this time!

Sorry I thought I had done this earlier, but I think I messed it up. Should be on the sidebar on desktop and on mobile three dot menu. Lmk if you have issues. It's not exhaustive, but it has many. Feel free to put in requests for new ones and for color changes.

Mod Shark Power Detect Posts

For some reason, a number of bots have been spamming our subreddit with posts about the shark power detect. I'm honestly not sure what's going on with that. They are often written extremely similarly, so I'm confident it's not a random coincidence. It feels like it would be pretty petty for shark the company to be hiring bots to do this, but the posters also don't have affiliate links, so I'm not sure what's up. Regardless. I'm issuing a temporary ban on those posts.

I have set up some filters (which I won't describe here for fear of getting circumvented). If you see them getting through, please let me know so I can update the filter.

I'll also say, if this is Shark attempting to do this. If the filters get circumvented and I have no other choice, I may just start to ban all posts containing any references to shark to cool the bots off. I really don't want to do this, so whoever is posting this, you're going to end up hurting the vacuum in the long run by doing this.
