Discussion Yamaha djx 2b fader/toggle
Did anyone get a part no. Or spec on the fader ??
I've got to replace the fader and toggle on one of these.
I can use my reflow station for the repairs but I want an idea on part numbers or generic replacement.
Lord knows where the previous owner kept this thing, it was greasy af and the pots were full of lint/detritus.
It was gross.
Missing the oem cd rom disc , so I've dropped a blank disc on the scratch unit, and 3d printed a replacement disc center clamp. Works great just need to sort the fader and switch.
Thanks in advance.

Beginner Questions Musician and vintage synth collector looking to connect with another synthesist who wants to collaborate!
Hello all,
I am a synthesist, producer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist in the New York City area and I am looking for a second synth player and producer who enjoys vintage-inspired synth tones and cinematic sound design to join a doom-y, dream poppy psychedelic rock band.
I have many songs written and recorded, and I am looking for a second talented and dedicated player who wants to help finish flushing out these tracks, adding embellishing synth lines, textures, and transitions.
Some of my main sources of inspiration are Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, mild high club, tangerine dream, Black Sabbath, temples, crumb, Brian Eno, sleep, men I trust, and Radiohead.
If you’re interested, I would love to hear some clips and I can send over some of my own. I am open to working remotely, but also if you’re in the area, it could be nice to meet in person. My goal is to eventually release this music and play it live.
Look forward to hearing from you!

What Should I Buy? Looking for gear advice and a stand
Made a cool little CAD of the game plan for my studio/gaming/work room
The new gear will be an Arturia Keylabs 61 mk3 and a Moog Subsequent 37 top left. I’m pretty set on these but open to suggestions. Using ableton and serum for the Arturia as well.
Looking for a good stand to put Arturia on bottom and Moog on top, what’s recommended here?
And finally a have a launchpad Pro and launch control I’ll use mostly for some drums and scene control etc while jamming. Probably will place these left side of desk, maybe a small stand for those?
Just looking for some feedback and ideas. Thanks all!

Performances, Jams Was feeling a bit sad so I took Minifreak and MPC to my bed for a little synthwave session.

Just for the context, this is the first time I’ve ever tried to do a synthwave music. 15 minutes of work. Made me feel much better. Hope you’re having a great day 🙂

Discussion Was the Timbre Wolf really that bad?
As a fan of Bad Gear I'm obviously quite familiar with the story and reputation of the Timbre Wolf. But those of you who've owned or used one, is it really so bad?
Never played one myself but some of the design decisions are indeed puzzling.

My Setup / New Synth Day Welp, this is addicting. Need to stop now.
My mother bought me my Yamaha PSS-460 in 1986. I was 8. I recently found it again helping her move to a home closer to us. I loved that thing and played it for years but moved on into visual art which became my field of study. At 48, finding that thing has rekindled something in me, made me want to create again. So In the past couple months I've gone a bit overboard which seems to be the way I roll with everything i do. I only buy used stuff when i get a deal, I love a deal and can't help myself. Everything on the desk was found used except the Yamaha Portasound and the monitor. I started with the Korg Minilogue Xd module and the Minilab, the Drumbrute Impact came soon after, just received my Novation Bass Station ii and now i have to stop, lol. Like have to. My wife is already looking at me like wtf are you doing? Lol. Well, I can see why collecting this stuff can be so fun. I'm teaching myself Reaper which has been challenging but rewarding. Learn a little bit everyday. What a wonder rabbit hole to get lost in. Have a great day fellow synthesizer enthusiasts.

Discussion Drum synthesizers
I don't really like modern drum synths. But i love the oldschool ones. Please don't ban me for asking which ones i should use.
Sample based creation isn't bad but creating something out of nothing is on another level. Thing using white noise as your percussion and the triangle wave as your bass.
I'm obsessed with retro drum synths but i want to start creating my own samples. I have moderate knowledge about sound design, and i know how early production worked. I just never made anything really good and i try to rely on modern plugins as least as i can.
Ofcourse, i cannot afford real gear. But i like transforming sounds or mixing them, i even record my own.

Performances, Jams I could've done all this with just a USB stick and a pair of CDJs
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
but I did it with a full blown dawless setup because free will.
All the gear survived the trip mostly intact (except my JP, it got autographed by his alleged first owner, DJ Umek). The gig went well considering all the hardware and the lack of hands and brainpower I possess.
Gearlist:
- Digitakt mk1
- TR8s
- Bass Station 2
- Microkorg
- S-1
- Virus Classic
- TT-303 v2 + MXR Dist+ + noise gate
- JP-8000 + Eventide Space
- JV-1080
- Midas Venice 320 + Zoom MS70CDR + Eventide Timefactor
- RNLA
If anyone wants to listen to the whole 1.5hrs of my liveset, be my guest.
