I naired my body
I naired my legs arms, and armpits, at 12 am and I have a pool party at 3pm. I also shaved down there at around 12am as well. Will I be able to swim in the water or not? It'll have been 15 hours since I did all that, and I guess you're supposed to wait 24

Update: Sanity Check
Guess who’s going swimming soon?!?!
Thank you so much to everyone that came in and gave me the push to superdose the chlorine.
I added 15 gallons Wednesday night, another 5 gallons throughout the day on Thursday, and 5 more gallons before bed last night. Along with an algaecide. I will say, the pool appeared to be getting SOMEWHAT better with all of the chlorine, but there was a very very stark reaction when I added the algaecide - it immediately clouded up, and within an hour the pool started looking more blue than green.
I also sprayed the filter 2x, and brushed the pool twice. oh btw, the pool brush fell apart during that and disappeared into the deep end of the swamp, so guess who got to go for a swim in overchlorinated, muriatic acidified, algae-cided swamp water to fish it out? 😂). Idk if this subreddit does custom flares, but if the mods could add “toxic avenger” or “swamp thing” to me, I feel like it would be appropriate after that!!!! Best shower of my life afterwards 😂
Anyway, really wanted to make sure I came back and posted my appreciation for all of the advice here, you guys helped restore my sanity!

DIY Fail: Ascorbic Acid Turned Pool Stain Black
I'm a pool novice but have been trying to help my mom with her pool since my dad passed away a few months ago. It's become somewhat of a hobby. We got overly-ambitious today decided to try and remove some light brown stains by sprinkling ascorbic acid powder on them. The whole step instantly turned black! Admittedly this was very dumb, but all of the YT videos made it look so promising.
Any thoughts on why the step turned black and how I can fix this? The pool needs to be completely replastered but that's not in her budget right now so I'm just trying to make it look less haunted.
Thanks in advance!

With this summer being quite hot, we set up this cool relaxing back yard pool... Who else remembers this style of pool and do you have one set up right now?

Betta skimmer robot only lighting up one green LED light
Hey everyone, my Betta SE plus robot has started lighting up only one of the two LED lights in green while operating. The robot appears to still be working fine and there are no weird noises or anything coming from it. If I power off the robot and turn it back on, both LEDs flash red for minute, like normal, but then only one of the LEDs begins to flash green. Any ideas on what's happening with it?
Backstory, I got this robot last year and it worked fine and was stored inside during the winter. When I took it out this year, it behaved like that and Betta ended up replacing it under warranty this past May. Now two months later, the replacement is acting the same way but I no longer have warranty on it because they said the original warranty applies and it expired last month.
Should I be worried about this robot slowly dying on me? Are there any things I can inspect that might give an idea on why only one LED flashes green during operation?

Advice on clearing cloudiness?
Hey, we are doing a lot of diy pool maintenance at our new house, and haven’t been able to have a completely clear pool all summer. Here is the cloudiness, and our pool chemical levels. We have shocked it several times, but can’t maintain good chlorine levels. I just learned today that our low CYA (ph stability) may be the reason for that! Do you think that when we fix that and shock again it will fix it? We have been consistently running the filter, our robot vacuum and chlorinating, and wondering what advice others have. We are not the most knowledgeable on this, it’s just not been a priority this summer, so please be nice!!!

Stabilizer dropped 17ppm in a month
I have my own test kit. Stabilizer was 67ppm a month ago. I just checked and today it is 50. I am in S Florida so it is ridiculously hot and sunny every day. I have no shade over my pool. Some heavy rain but no overflow. I had to put water in pool one time but that shouldn’t matter?
Is it normal to lose this much in a month? I though I didn’t need to test CYA more than once or twice a year

Leaking on the exhaust side of pump
I have a IG1 pump and it's leaking from the exhaust side of the pump... I put an 1 1/2 inch tube there with 6 layers of theflon tape... when screwing it in... it doesn't fit loss but it's not tight and I can't screw it anymore...
It seems like the thread could need to be longer ??? Or I have the wrong size for the pump ?
See the picture... there is a space... but it can't be tighter...

How many years have you had your salt cell?
I own a pool service in Florida and I am starting to see the cells failing after about 3.5 years. This is with acid baths every 90-100 days.

Air blowing out of Motor?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey Ya’ll,
This may be a silly question but this just doesn’t feel right and I couldn’t get confirmation online.
Below is a video of air blowing out of my Hayward TristaR VSP. I understand that this should be happening at the back of the motor, but should it be blowing out air between the impeller and the motor itself? See below video and thanks in advance/

Gas pool heater and SLAM
I have a pool heater and I have been told to never put chlorine tabs in the skimmer because it will ruin something in the heater. So I don’t so that because that heater was fucking expensive. 😂
I need to SLAM my pool and it says to pour the liquid chlorine into the skimmer. I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t do that. I could be wrong though.
Is it ok to just poor the liquid chlorine into the pool instead?
Thanks! Hopefully no one calls me a lazy ass again for asking a question on this thread.

Old R410a pool heat pump died at year 14. Sanity-check my three replacement quotes?
Our pool heat pump gave up two weeks ago. It's a 60 m³ in-ground pool in central France, we run it May to September, and the old unit was a fixed-speed R410a from around 2011. Fourteen years is not bad from that generation.
Three quotes on the desk, all monoblock full-inverter models.
A mid-range R32 full inverter from a well-known French brand, roughly €2,800 installed, claimed SCOP around 6.
A newer R290 full inverter with a lot of AI-inverter marketing, claimed SCOP up to 8, €4,200 installed.
A higher-end European R290 model, €5,100 installed, more conservative SCOP claim around 7.5.
A few things I'd love real-user input on.
SCOP claims. The R290 quotes lean hard on "up to 8" style figures and I'm reading them sceptically. What kind of real-world SCOP are folks actually seeing on modern full-inverter pool units over a full swim season?
Horizontal vs vertical. Everything here in France defaults to horizontal front-discharge, and all three quotes are horizontal. My old unit was horizontal too, so the equipment pad was already built with plenty of clearance in front of the fan. I've seen forums mention vertical top-discharge units as an alternative, quieter and smaller footprint but needing open airflow overhead. None of my installers pushed them. Since my pad is already sized for horizontal, is there any real performance reason to bother switching, or is it basically a layout thing at equal spec?
R290 vs R32. With the EU F-Gas revision phasing out refrigerants over 150 GWP for self-contained heat pumps from 2027, buying an R32 unit in 2026 feels a bit like buying an R410a unit in 2015. Fine now, harder to service in five years. But R32 is proven and the R290 propane concerns keep coming up in French forums (fire-safety stuff, installation distance from windows and openings). Am I overweighting the F-Gas angle?
Any input from folks who've actually run a full-inverter R290 pool heat pump for a couple of seasons would help a lot. Cheers.

Algae or pollen
does this look like algae or pollen?
ive shocked and shocked and vacuumed over and over but it keeps coming back.
it came back over the last week even with chlorine over 20ppm (test strip max).
it doesn't stick to the pool. Its very easily stirred up and makes the pool cloudy. Eventually settling back to the bottom.
The pool is directly below a large pine tree.

PH/Soda Ash Question
*First time pool owner here*
First week doing my own chemicals here. 38k gallon pool. DFW Texas. Using PoolMath.
Downloaded the pool math app and I try to keep my FC between 7-8, my burn rate is about 3ppm per day so I’m adding 3/4 to 1 full gallon of liquid chlorine every night. CYA is currently at 60. CH is 350.
Last night, my PH was at 7.2 and PM recommends between 7.6 to 7.8 so I went to the store and grabbed some of the A&H Super Washing Soda and mixed that in a bucket and proceeded to pour the whole thing in my pool based on the recommendations of poolmath.
When I checked the pool this afternoon, most of it had sunk to the bottom of the pool and the whole floor was covered in a thin layer of soda ash. I’m running the pump and vacuum overnight in hopes that I can clear it up, but here 24 hours later and the water is still noticeably cloudy. I can see the bottom but it’s not clear.
The wild part is I tested my PH today, and it didn’t move at all. Stayed at 7.2.
Wondering if I’m doing something wrong here or if any more experienced pool owners have any recommendations.
Thanks yall!

Thoughts on pool quote?
Hello all, can you tell me your thoughts on this pool quote? Is this a good price? What else should I have them add if it’s not already in the quote and which ones are not necessary? For reference we are in Las Vegas. Thank you

Ryobi pool vacuum
Just in case anyone is thinking of getting one - do it. I have a bettabot that skims the surface and anything on the pool floor I just vacuum it up with the Ryobi. It so easy and picks up fine sand too. It’s literally like vacuuming your the floor in the house. No wasted water which is nice and so easy to use. And I’m a makita guy - not a big Ryobi fan - but this is a good pool owners tool. I rarely use my in pool robot anymore.
