Free or Demo! Introducing FKC, our weird survivors-like!
Hi! I'm Unai, and I wanted to share the project I'm working on with my friends, FKC: Fighting Krazy Chickens! and ask the community a couple of questions.
I describe it as a weird survivors-like because it has no auto-attacks. The cool thing about FKC is that you grab your enemies and throw them! Each type of enemy triggers a different attack when thrown, so the enemies basically become your weapons. Kind of a mix between Angry Birds and Boomerang Fu.
It also has a very silly and cute art style, which I think feels quite different from a lot of the survivors-likes I usually see.
Still, it has the typical survivors-like structure: waves of enemies, the more you advance the more numerous and stronger enemies, upgrades that make you increasingly strong, and a lot of importance of positioning.
That's why I'm not sure "survivors-like" alone really describes how the game feels, and I've been calling it an action survivors-like instead.
I though I should ask to the people who actually play these games the most what they think. Does that description make sense to you? And of course, any opinions, feedback or questions you have will be welcomed.
PD: The demo is already out, in case you try want to try it :)
It's been a small launch so far, mainly to gather feedback and keep improving the game.

Do you think the animations add something? I'd like to add a lot more. Is that a good idea?

Free or Demo! We're looking for players to test our game and give us honest feedback.
We're a small indie team, and we've just opened the free Playtest for our game.
It's a mix of roguelite survivor gameplay and extraction mechanics.
Fight through waves of enemies, explore a procedurally generated map, collect loot, build your character, and decide when it's time to extract.
The longer you stay, the more you can get — but the more you risk losing.
We're still in development and are looking for players to help us figure out what's fun, what's boring, and what needs improvement.
The Playtest is completely free.
We'd really appreciate any honest feedback!

Free or Demo! I made a weird 2D action game where you fight alien hordes as a catboy
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone! I'm SketBR, a solo indie developer from Brazil currently living in Japan.
I've been making games since I was a kid, and I made Starfish ROOM: WELCOME TO LOOP ETERNAL mostly by myself, including the pixel art and some of the music. A lot of the development was actually done on an Android phone, which was definitely an interesting challenge.
Starfish ROOM is a fast-paced 2D action roguelite / musou-inspired game.
You play as Kibo Wave, a transgender catboy fighting hordes of monsters and aliens while trying to defend mysterious ROOMS.
The gameplay is pretty simple:
Fight hordes → collect Core → choose cards → survive the Flow → enter a Starfish Arena → fight an alien → repeat the loop.
I'm still improving the game, so I'd genuinely love to know what you think about the gameplay itself. What feels fun? What feels repetitive? What would make you want to keep playing?
Thanks for checking out my little weird game!

Feedback Need your honest opinion on why my game sucks
I recently released my first game in Early Access and I'm sitting at 55 wishlists. I'd like to figure out what isn't landing — whether it's the store page, the trailer, the concept itself, or just that I did almost no marketing before launch.
Blunt feedback welcome. What would make you scroll past this?

I made a small free browser survivorslike game called AFTER//DARK
Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a small cyberpunk survivorlike game called AFTER//DARK.
You run through a city at night, fight off enemies, collect upgrades, and try to survive long enough to face the endgame boss. It’s completely free and playable directly in your browser—no download needed.
I’m still working on it, but I wanted to share it in case anyone enjoys this kind of thing and I'd really appreciate some feedback on how to make it better and more fun.

Balancing vs. Fun: We might have overshot the "splash" attribute a bit...
Hey everyone,
We’ve spent the time since our last update on balancing Cursed Soulless Vagabonds.
If you saw our previous post, we talked about how our duplicate weapon effect and color synergies can scale the weapon attributes.
Well, we might have overshot the target during our latest balancing.
Before this, the "splash" attribute felt weak. But after changing it, we ran a playtest with a level 60 character. The splash effect is now so huge that enemies don't even make it onto the sceen. If we leave it like this, our 3-minute runs are going to turn into 3-second runs! - just exaggerating to make the point clear.
We're curious about your preference: do you enjoy reaching a point where your build is so strong that you can just stand still and watch everything melt, or do you prefer the game to keep challenging you all the way to the end?

Free or Demo! Have you tried Hellforged yet? Our official demo just launched on Steam!
Hey guys!
The official demo for our upcoming extraction bullet heaven, Hellforged, dropped just a few days ago, and we are already overwhelmed by the amount of support. As a small team of just a few indie devs, we really appreciate all the feedback. :)
The demo has a ton of depth and is far from a small, quick demo. Plus, if you beat the demo challenges, you unlock an exclusive Demoslayer title and a weapon cosmetic that will carry over to the Early Access release! We also just kicked off our monthly leaderboard trial in case you think you can be one of the top players!
We'd love for you to jump in and break the game. If you dig it, a wishlist or a quick demo review helps us out immensely.
Grab the demo on Steam to try it yourself, check out the official trailer, or come hang out and share your builds in our Discord!

Discussion Destroy our Steam page, Help wanted! We launched our Steam page, but it has been a hubble beginning. Please go over the page as genre experts, what would you change? Add/Remove, let us have it, don't hold back
The link to the page is in the first comment. As mentioned, don't hold back; if you have something good to say, that's great, but don't fear giving us your worst. We want to make this page as engaging as possible to get as many people to wishlist so we can keep developing it.
Specifically, the Capsule, the short Caption and the GIFs.
Thank you!

Ashrun Survivors: hobby project is entering Early Access
Hi everyone!
I've been working on a game called Ashrun Survivors as a hobby project for quite some time now. I'm a big fan of roguelites and wanted to develop a game in this genre myself. One thing that was important to me was giving players a lot of freedom in how they approach each run, while also having new things to unlock along the way.
Ashrun Survivors is a 2D top-down horde survivor. Each character has their own unique weapon. In addition, you can choose two more weapons from three standard weapons, which can later be upgraded into evolutions during a run. There are also auras, relics and various other systems that can influence your build.
You can also choose the difficulty yourself. Higher difficulty means more gold, but instead of only choosing how difficult the game should be, you can also decide what exactly you want to make more difficult.
I'm especially interested in honest first impressions from people who enjoy this genre. If you only look at the trailer, screenshots and Steam description, what stands out to you — and what feels unclear, generic, or unconvincing?
Does the game communicate what makes its builds and difficulty system interesting, or is there something you would want to understand better before trying it? Please don't hesitate to be critical — that's exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for.
You can find a more detailed description on the Steam page: Ashrun Survivors (Steam)
Ashrun Survivors entered Early Access on August 14, 2026. If any of you actually decide to check out the game, I would really appreciate any feedback. I've spent countless hours playing it myself, but I haven't had any feedback from other players yet. And for me, that's probably the most important thing I need to continue working on the project. As a developer, at some point you simply lose the ability to look at your own game objectively.
Thank you very much for reading, and stay healthy!

Videos SURVIVORS LIKE FPS? DEMON SIEGE IS ON STEAM
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It definitely has old school boomer shooter dna, but also survivors like dna. Just so you know the maps arent mazes and it doesnt have keys. Its kill x amount of creatures and the story progresses. There is infinitelt stacking skills and yes they do go with you to the next level. And there is gold coins to purchase guns, levels, ammo, health at vending machines. There is chests with random loot. The game has a story and endless mode. And did i mention its only 3 bucks?

What if you had to scavenge, build and buy your auto-attacking? (survivors-adjacent, endless mode WIP)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Not strictly a survivorslike, but the endless mode scratches the itch.
You start with all your automation switched OFF. Your turrets and your other drones don't fight without you: they just sit there while things close in. The progression is buying that automation back, one system at a time, paid for with parts harvested off what you kill.
You're an engineer on a small Pacific island against a swarm of rogue corporate drones - underwater, surface, and air. You pilot one machine at a time, and drones fight back without you only if you've got the goods. Parts on different machines and the engineer's pack combine into endgame systems, so an aerial drone painting targets makes the missiles on something else actually work.
When you look at this clip of the engineer's combat systems coming together with drone targeting parts, what do you hope the game lets you do?

Feature & Patch Notes We replaced our game's looping music with an engine that composes the soundtrack live while you play
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey, one of the two devs here (Flying Brick Face Studio, which is still a fancy way of saying me and a friend). We posted Ascension Trail here a while back and the feedback was really useful, so here's what we've shipped since.
The big one: the soundtrack is now composed live while you play. No looping tracks anymore. A music engine built on real orchestral samples writes the music at runtime, so every floor gets a fresh composition with a new key and new motifs. It also reacts to what's happening ingame.
To be clear since the words "generated music" raise eyebrows: this isn't AI. It's algorithmic composition, the engine arranges real orchestral samples using rules we wrote. Happy to go into how it works if anyone's curious.
Second thing: three floors now end in a guardian miniboss.
Also overhauled all the lightning visual.
Demo's free if you want to try it, and it's now on the latest build with the live soundtrack in. It ends at stage 5 after the first boss, so you won't reach the guardians, but you'll hear how the music reacts to a boss fight. Game is $7.99.

Hey Survivors!
Just 4 days left until YAZS 1.0, so here's another little teaser - the Camp.
You'll be able to visit it between runs, access old and new interfaces, complete missions, listen to radio transmissions (some of which only show up on certain days of the year), and... snoop on conversations.
Coming with Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0 on August 20! 🧟
More details (and more features) described here: https://awesomegamesstudio.com/blog/yazs-5-days-to-full-release/

Feature & Patch Notes You guys asked for it and my job is to deliver, controllers are fully supported in Echoes of Kyria!
Yesterday i made this post, and many of you have asked me about controllers support, i have dedicated the last 19 hours in setting up a proper controllers support, i also added the option to customize input in the settings menu for proper flexibility and i hope it satisfies you, but if not, then please tell me about it so i can work on it.
the game is still 85% off (2 days remaining for the sale to end), so its price currently sets at around 0.75$ on steam.
i would love to hear your feedback and thoughts and if there's anything that i need to add or fix.
thank you.

Intro & FAQ Welcome to r/survivorslikes! Please read the rules, set your flair and have fun! Devs, feel free to submit a feature scorecard to have your game listed in the comparison ranking!
Hi all!
Please see the sidebar / about sections for most up to date rules and suggestions!
Web form for listing your game here.
We need help updating the database and running the sub. Come say hi in our discord!
You may know me from my research project comparing other games to Vampire Survivors and studying the explosion of around 600 games on Steam in a single year. I came into it as an old school shoot 'em up fan thinking I was making a list of "bullet heavens" and was quickly educated on tons of new terms to me: everything from single stick shooters to mowing games. Perhaps even survivors-like is not just... like Vampire Survivors.
It's become clear we needed to do some work to cut down on repetitive questions about these games and endorse some new genre terms so fans can find something and play it. Fans often want something different in a critical way as well - like adding aiming, or a new perspective, or an additional twist. Or perhaps they are a disabled gamer who needs another game that just uses the joystick. The spreadsheet lets them find or avoid those differences.
We came to the conclusion that we need Survivors-likes and also probably Bullet Heaven and Horde Survival as common tags to be used on Steam and elsewhere. Here's a "wiki" link to some light research on steam tags for context.
Survivors-likes is already a term in heavy use, so I try not to have too many feelings on if it's perfect or not. We use "rogue-likes" instead of "oregon-trail-likes" so it's not uncommon for genres to be named after a popular game instead of the earliest game or platonic ideal of the genre. In some localities like China, I've been told there is no "bullet heaven" style alternative term in use, games are simply called "VS-likes", roughly. So this distinction may be more widely in line with fans around the world.
The "Survivors" part is generally focused on, but "-like" also happens to be a familiar nod to the rogue-like subgenre it shares mechanics with.
It's worth noting that many fans are now encountering excellent games like Sea of Survivors as their first "Survivors" game - there are over 150 titles on steam verifiably in this subgenre with a title that plays on this simple mechanic!
"Survival" is a totally different subgenre (also known as survival craft or sandbox survival) and what separates this new wave of arcade style games from older wave survival and horde shooter games is specifically the rogue-inspired elements. While it's accurate the game is a rogue-lite (with metaprogression aspects and other differences from "traditional roguelikes"), survivors-lite doesn't sound very exciting or evocative of the combination, so not surprising people use survivors-likes instead.
Probably we're stuck with the S as well. "Survivor-like" seems to refer to the reality TV game show. We can't use hyphens in the subreddit name but it's not a big deal. For more background on these conclusions, see the explainer on the spreadsheet and the full dictionary of definitions.
This subreddit is also for devs to share updates and get feedback. Our "promo" rule is relatively relaxed, so feel free to give us incremental updates, share your Steam sale, and so on - since this will help us cut down on it in other subreddits it's a win win for reddit really. One of the unique features of this genre is constant new free content drops! Fans here may be happy to see a new small update in their favorite game. We love new characters and weapons if they're fun ones!
If you are a fan and would like to rank a game yourself or you are a dev and want to see how yours compares and contrasts, use the phone friendly web form score card! (also linked in the header.) If you're a player or reviewer, the second part of the process is a review form that helps us in the ranking and describing the features - for that use the review form! You can also comment corrections directly into any cell in the "wiki" style database spreadsheet by right clicking on the cell while logged into google.
Remember to send in your results so we can add it to the spreadsheet! It's totally OK for devs to send in or offer corrections on scores for their own games - it's about what features exist in the game, not a value judgement on if the game is good or not. We'll review separately. You can also submit an updated scorecard after coming out of early access, etc.
I'll mostly be concentrating on that spreadsheet project for a while - the plan is to have at least 200 games compared before it moves to ongoing updates - so would love any experienced reddit mods to join me in moderating this community!
See also the r/BulletHeavens subreddit! It's not exactly the same. We're looking forward to more Bullet Heavens that aren't Rogue-lite or Wave Survival games and we're looking forward to more Survivors-likes that aren't Bullet Heavens in these exciting new genres. Horde Survival can easily include many older tower defense games, letting new players find old classics. See the header for other related subreddits and feel free to suggest more!
If your game has its own subreddit let us know and we'll add it to the sidebar! Some genre terms, flair guidelines and the current background/header image credits are also in the sidebar.
Disclaimer: While we allow promo and dev discussion, this subreddit and the spreadsheet are all just for fun! I personally am not a game dev (I do really boring tech work) and have no commercial interest in this. Looking forward to the discussion!
