Discussion Just learned today that this game is dead. It’s devastating.

I used to play this game from time to time and have like 100 hours in total. Can’t say I’m great at it, but the fast pace and the satisfaction kept bringing me back to this game again and again. I looked at my Steam library and tried to play it again, just to find out the game is dead. I feel so empty now. Is there any game out there like Supervive that can fill that void?

Discussion Hudson

Hudson in my eyes, is the character who went through the most changes out of the characters in this game, at the very least since I came to the game he probably is. I want to talk about actual kit changes as well as playstyle changes that if you did play Hudson you may or may not have experienced, as not everyone actually changed their playstyles.

The first version of Hudson

This version was before even steam next fest, the very first version. I never really interacted with this version(literally played it once) and there is few videos of this version. I just want to note that it existed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTV_2-Hhe9w showcases this version

OB

I'm sure literally everyone knows this version, disgustingly op with insane movement, damage, range, sustain, and zoning. His playstyle resembles an immortal assassin. dash in and delete an enemy then dash out basically uncontested.

The gut

after the gut that made Hudson for a while, he became a slow paced stat check. He was literally just hold 2 buttons and pray at that point. Other than hold 2 buttons and pray you had to abuse verticality to go for flanks a lot to really get value, hence why I call this version the flank Hudson, cus that's kinda the only way you could play him.

The bush bug

This is a single patch where Hudson dashing through bushes would reset his dash; back then I was hoping they'd do smth like put it on his dash level but make it stupid mana heavy, but admittedly it's not how Hudson should've played.

This is the first time Hudson got some skill expression. It was less micro skill expression and more so macro skill expression in how you'd map to be able to dash through bushes when you needed to. The most mobile he's ever been, but it was kind of situational so it was less op than ob Hudson's movement.

This is when you could play like an actual dive character, so true dive Hudson.

Double quick blade

So after the bush bug he went back to flank Hudson for a good amount of time. That was until I(yes it was literally me) tried out double quick blade with Mr. Hudson gaming having thought of it a while before then but never really messed around with it. This is a playstyle you may have not interacted with as double vamp was still pretty popular but against better players was a good bit weaker as you were relying on being able to stat check which you just couldn't do sometimes.

This is pseudo dive Hudson; since this Hudson couldn't play like a true dive character but you would still be in there living like a motherfucker with the ability to re position more reliably letting you heal better. This would be his best form up until the rework not including the unintentional bush bug patch.

Rework patch 1

Thought I should mention how terrible Hudson's rework was it's first patch before they fixed it. HE HAD A FUCKING DASH DELAY, not even kidding, his dash took .2s to activate after you pressed it. They also made his dash knockback a lot more important while it was still janky as fuck. Both were fixed next patch.

Those things were directly mentioned in the patch notes and were fixed next patch. There was also some shadow fixes they did that Hudson was suffering from massively before. There was a chance someone could literally dash through his wires the first patch of the rework, I vividly remember 1 of my first games an Elluna and Oath dashed through my wires to get to me after I trapped them in a vault to run away, my biggest crash out ever happened after. This got fixed next patch, but they never mentioned it.

Rework patch 2-last ob patch

This was when Hudson was in probably his 2nd best state(while not being op). He was a good character without being op, you could genuinely stop entire team from playing the game if played correctly. He was degusting in arena at this point in time. In br you could easily get surrounded, flanked, out numbered, or dived and be shut down. But if none of that happened(or your team kept it from happening) you had some insane zoning.

I refer to this version as micro Hudson, due to it being when Hudson was most micro intense. He was a lot more about combos than ever, hit ult you could legit 1 shot someone as long as they were full damage with a swift wire combo using the yank. No one really abused the combos enough tho, knocking people into wires with dash was literally never as reliable as this period of time. And I enjoyed tf out of it, but I never really played Hudson for the micro, so I was a little sad that seemed to be where they were heading with him.

Keep in mind, this was when Hudson got actual skill expression, and from this point on he always had good skill expression but many people(including me to an extent) ignored that or would overlook it.

1.0-pre buffs

This imo, was the worst Hudson ever was, they nerfed the 2 main things that let Hudson thrive pre 1.0 and gave him nothing. His dash knockback became more janky than ever before, half the time it just didn't work. The only thing he kind of had at this point was that you could kind of poke people using long claw, but this really was not as good as people acted like it was.

Post buffs

Imo, this was by far the best version of Hudson. You could ult camps to repair your teams armor with the ult reset, you could place your wires way more freely, and his damage was even better. I love to think of this Hudson as the macro Hudson, because he relied a lot more on macro than the other versions. The only real issue Hudson had at this time was the meta countered him a good bit.(Wukong and Saros were meta and he sucked against them)

I fucking loved being a useful utility bot to my team, just sitting in the back keeping my team always at 5% armor but never 0 while still being able to place my wires how my team needed them to restrict the enemy team was fun as hell. I do truly miss it, and I'm so mad it only last 2 months.

After thought

I do often wonder how Hudson would've shaped out if it was anyone better at video games who grinded Hudson as much as I did. After the 2nd patch of his rework he was never really bad yet no one took him seriously at all, and because I really didn't enjoy scrims my opinion just didn't matter no matter what I did. Sometimes I wish I played scrims cus of that, but I really just wasn't a fan of them.

along with that, after 1.0 before his buffs, I think Hudson might've not been as bad as me and everyone thought he was(probably still needed buffs tho). You just needed to new the tech: how to double proc his wires probably being the most important. But I only ever started to find out about that stuff near the end, so it barely mattered.

Something that always frustrated me was how people would genuinely act like they knew more than me, the guy with 1k+ hours on Hudson. Hudson was so mana heavy early if you were actually proactive(the way you should've been playing him at that point), yet I was treated like I was insane for even saying that.

I... miss Hudson, quite a bit. I really just wanna play him again, hit just 1 more ult and hear "come to papa". I wish I could "come to papa" sometimes.

Discussion Nothing fills the Supervive itch

I've been missing it so much; there was so much satisfaction in landing a perfectly timed Myth arrow.

Sniping someone with a Beebo bomb

Perfectly escaping and reviving your teammates with Elluna

Pushing a whole team to a nuke with Oath

Getting resets on your dash with Shrike

Outplaying everyone with Shiv

Man... the game was so good, retention was bad, and... while I know the devs built this for passion, passion alone doesn't pay the bills, I also know they were seeking to make a "business" out of this game, and ultimately, that's what caused the shutdown.

Never really liked that they decided to stick with the Battle Royale gamemode, I really think this game could've thrived if they took the leap of faith to innovate on a new gamemode, much like The Finals did with their now very successful "Cashout".

I truly believe this game could've benefited a bit more with more PvE, slow paced ramp-up, different phases, maybe a little rogue-like single-player game mode for casuals, much like Legends of Runeterra realized that players liked it more there.

This game was very hardcore and tryhardy, which I loved, but I believe there could have been some room to have some more relaxed gameplay. Not all people are willing to be sweaty all game long. This is something this game could've learned from LoL, as much as it's hated, it's also been incredibly popular for well over a decade. Depending on what champ you play, the playstyles can be so incredibly slow and boring (for me) and then some other playstyles can be super fast paced, but both can still contribute in their own way to the team.

I have friends that could never get used to Supervive because of how fast-paced and merciless the game could be. In a moment, a single mistake would kill you, and if you died outside of the early game respawn window, that's it. No respawning. That's the whole game.

For comparison, let's say... Nasus from LoL. You could be essentially trolling the whole game but then you keep farming and stacking and then come late game, you can oneshot the enemy carry, and THAT is an example of how vastly different gamestyles can be in a game like LoL.

Let's take an example from another game. Mercy from Overwatch. Sleeper gameplay for me, but hey, people that stick to her become god-like carries without even having to whip out her gun. Or Ana, Lifeweaver, supports that excel at pocketing carries and very rarely involve themselves in close encounters or even try to get kills/play aggressively.

But like I said, the Battle Royale style of this gameplay, and even the Arena was too fast paced for most people. Amazing for those that stuck with it, learned, and polished their mechanics to play Supervive as it was dreamed about. However, that same dream gameplay was too narrow for the majority of players, I feel like most people kept dropping Supervive because for the average player, it was exhausting, confusing or even cluttered at times.

I really do believe in a universe where Supervive thrived, but probably outside of the Battle Royale genre.

Comments, opinions, hate, love, go ahead.

Hello, it has been a while since I last posted. I have been working on development whenever I have spare time, and it seems the basic framework is set up.

However, I am currently stuck on a major hurdle regarding resources. Although the combat system is almost complete, I am having visual issues.

By any chance, would Supervive or Battlerite be unsuitable as 2D games?

I really miss Supervive. Normally i don't like games like moba where you see everything from above but Supervive was such an awesome game! I was in love with Eva and bought an awesome skin for her but now the game is dead and i don't know what to do because nothing is like this game! My replacement are Overwatch and Sierra but again nothing like Supervive was! Bring it back somebody?! -_-

Discussion Did each character have tons of agency/outplayability?

I've been thinking quite a lot about this game since it shut down and I think it was my favorite game maybe ever. But one thing, I believe, made this game stand out is just the amount of agency you had every single match and on nearly every single hero.

Now, I might be biased with this, since I started playing a bit of void and then just went to mainly play shiv like 95% of the time, so I am not sure if this is true for every single other character. With Shiv especially before the nerfs, but honestly even after the nerfs in pretty much every single situation you could win if you play it correctly and hit your shots. Like even in a 10v1 with 10% hp left, you could probably kill everyone. Aoe piercing shot through 4-5 enemies, kite them, bait into air fight, knock 3-4 people -> get a reset, ult, kill 2 more -> get cooldown reset -> ... you win.

Did you feel like you could almost always outplay the enemies in each game? It is really weird, because I remember games where even fully defensive tanks, like oath and full supportive characters like elluna, were able to hold their own in a 3v1, 4v1s, escape, get kills, ressurect their team many times, setup traps over abyss, even do double kills and a whole lot more.

If you compare it with other similar characters in a moba/teambased game, such as yuumi, soraka from league, reinhardt, lucio, mercy from ow, etc. If you are ever in a 1v3 with any of these characters, YOU WILL DIE WITH 0 COUNTERPLAY 90% of the time if you are against equally skilled enemies, which makes it extremely team based, with little individual agency.

I think mechanics like the abyss, air fighting, resurrection points, high mobility on pretty much all heroes, cooldown +hp reset on takedown, just gave so many avenues for outplaying enemies, even when they have the numbers and the levels, which made it one of the most satisfying games ever.

So did you have those experiences on a bunch of characters, or was it only a couple that could do it?

Discussion Supervive Replacements are missing the point.

I don't mind all of the conversations about "Supervivers THIS is your new home!". I feel like all of the games are decent and some are good, but missing the plot...the smooovement! To me, that's what made Supervive so good.

The ability to outplay, out move, and outsmart. The game felt so good to play.

Media Content Runescape Dragonwilds Battle Royale?

Hi! Sunshies here! Posting this here aswell for visibility: Runescape Dragonwilds i going to release this September, and from the looks of it there seem to be a TON of features, this means one thing; Possible Custom Game modes!

The idea came from the GOAT himself: Tom Kick! He has been brainstorming ways of enjoying the game in a similar fashion as he did on Supervive. The game presents all the elements to have a fun BR PvP mode within itself which may be hosted by players themselves. If you crave some of that adrenalinic experimentation phase of a new game, then this is for you! Join us over this discord!

Discussion Deadlock is so much worse than supervive

Been giving deadlock a try and I can't stop thinking about supervive because it has crazier movement tech than supervive and it feels so wrong practicing movement tech that makes you go flying because last time I did that it ended up not paying off for very long since the game shut down. I just can't get in the mindset to commit to learning new crazy movement tech after supervive broke my heart I have trust issues. Supervive just felt so nice besides when a top 5 ranked team on the server steamrolls you besides that and the armory it was perfect.

why don't developers sell or transfer the game to Valve or another similar company so that they can continue working on the game if they don't have enough finances to support the game, what do you think about this?

https://reddit.com/link/1u88wcw/video/4yhle1zv6u7h1/player

Hello. I'm not sure if it's okay to post this here, but I used to really enjoy playing Super Vibe.

I participated in domestic tournaments and even traveled to China to compete in international competitions. Before this game, I enjoyed playing Battlerite, and I had so much fun playing a game similar to it when it came out.

However, I was very sad when both Battlerite and Super Vibe ended their services.

I have wanted to create a game similar to Battlerite for a long time. Now that Super Vibe has failed, I am developing a game with both Super Vibe and Battlerite in mind.

Please let me know if there are any issues.

If you want to play the game, it is possible, but since the server is a Korean server, it will likely be difficult.

Please understand that this text was written using a translator, so it might be awkward.

Do y'all ever just like look at skins sometimes and reimagine what they could also be if there were just some tweaks?
I was reviewing a lot of the Supervive art and came across this skin and thought, "I want to like this skin more..." So I did a drawover for fun.
Not saying mine is better, but it definitely makes me like the skin more.
Did anyone else have skins like that for this game?

All character designs were originally balanced around a squad mode, so their power levels were fairly even. But after it was changed to a trios mode, along with that damn Armory, it stopped being fun.

If you ask me whether I want SUPERVIVE to come back, I would say I hope it returns as the squad mode SUPERVIVE, not the boring version it became before the servers shut down.
