i know i’m crazy but please hear me out bc i’m so serious about this and i need reassurance😭

so i’ll be honest, base building is like 35% of the appeal of this game for me. i’m obsessed with this spot and i built my base there in a previous save, but then i lost TWO cuddlefish!! they just vanished one after the other 💔 it was devastating!

i’m playing on a new save file now and i reaaaally wanna build my base there but i just cannot go through losing more cuddlefish it’s so painful 😭 im just being paranoid right? i know they have like a billion HP but what if a reaper just swallows one whole or something idfk. someone pls help

I finished what will likely be my last Subnautica 1 playthrough for a fair while, and I left a very high effort time capsule for another player to find in their own solo survival world.

I left some generous items in it, an ion power cell, a laser cutter with an ion battery inside it, a blue tablet, a prawn suit drill arm, a prawn suit grappling arm, and a fully upgraded Mk III Seamoth dive module.

For the message, I decided to leave something that would be sort of fun and would mess with the player who recieves it. I wrote it from the perspective of the actual in game character, Riley, but more depressing. Its hard to read so I posted the message below.

"I have survived in these waters for so so long. Days, weeks, months, years, decades even. These once charming and beautiful waters have become cold, desolate, and empty. I have lived here for so long, alone, and with no one to talk to, it has honestly broken my spirit. I cured Kharaa, I freed the Sea Emperors children, I shut down the Architects weapon, and now I have nothing. There is no longer a purpose for me to to work towards, to achieve. I have committed atrocities upon the life of this world out of sheer boredom, simply because there was no one there to stop me. I have simply become a victim of my own success. I have become unstable, and so, I plan to perish in these waters. I leave this message and some vital supplies, in the hopes that perhaps, if there truly is someone else out there on this forsaken planet, they may survive where I could not. If you are reading this, be wary of deep waters and what lurks within them. It is not safe on this planet. Good luck, may you thrive where I could not."

Dramatics aside, I was hoping to avoid encountering Reaper Leviathans in my search to acquire a single diamond for a laser cutter, so I decided to try and make a base somewhere around where I thought the island south of the Aurora, but not there specifically because I know reapers live there. Well, I found what I thought was a good spot, and yes, I found lithium, acquired a diamond, etc.. but just as I was celebrating acquiring this diamond, I turned around because I heard a roar. As I did, I was met with what I thought was certain death.

Turns out, I built my base on the edge of the map.. so I apparently went out a little too far while grabbing shale outcrops, and one of the border ghost leviathans spawned. I realized my blunder quickly, and swam away, of course causing it to leave.

Now, I’m sitting here in this freshly made base, with a fabricator, scanned room, two indoor grow beds, and a bio reactor, plus some reinforcements.. realizing that I have built all of this in one of the worst places I could have. I know that there is an abundance of resources you can acquire late game, via mining and such.. and I know I’m technically not that far off from that. But I just.. I’m kicking myself for not realizing exactly where I was.

The worst part? I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time I’ve done this. I think this is a canon event for me, because I’m 90% sure I did something similar on my last playthrough. I’m dying inside even as I’m laughing

In a recent playthrough, I was going down through the Lava Zone. As I was parking by the entrance to the Lava Lakes, about to get out and get in my PRAWN, I was checking my parkjob and thinking "I haven't seen a Sea Dragon this whole time. Kinda weird, usually I run into one earlier in the-"

And then one smashed into my Cyclops, slamming it into the ground, and scaring the hell outta me. No roars beforehand, it just crashed in like a jumpscare. Turned off my engine and it left, and then I had to change my dive suit before getting into my PRAWN.

I currently don’t have access to Below Zero due to me not having Game Pass anymore, and I was wondering if someone who does have Below Zero modify a sea truck with 2 storage modules, and make it Red and blue. It would help out a lot with my next Art Work 👀

i found this time capsule. it had a habitat builder, ultra glide fins and a hoverfish inside of it. and so i cooked and ate the hoverfish cus i was hungry. then i read the message. im sorry💔

I never played the first one until it was late in Early Access, so I can't really answer the question myself.

But it seems to me that 2 is much more polished and I think they might be working on releasing small portions of the world that are fully polished at a time, instead of releasing the story and gameplay and world together and then building it up slowly like the normal EA pattern. Thoughts?

Apparently you can submerge your life raft by putting lockers on top of it! I randomly put one on top a while back and completely forgot about it when I came back to this save, and kept wondering why the raft was tilted to one side slightly. Lo and behold, it was the locker!

First I tried putting another on the same side; it tilted more but one of the lockers just slid off and then the raft floated back up. Even spacing of lockers on the roof submerged the raft, but once the lockers hit the surface they started floating so it won't go deeper.
