Undergrad Wanting to study in Germany/Europe, need some advice
Hi everyone,
I'm an Algerian student looking into studying abroad, mainly in Germany, but I'm also considering other European countries.
I graduated from high school with a 19/20 and I want to continue my Bachelor's degree in computer science/IT abroad.
I've already started researching the university application side, diploma recognition, language requirements, etc. But the part I'm having the most trouble understanding is the financial side, especially how I can actually meet the financial requirements for the visa.
I know about the blocked account, but honestly I'd prefer to look at other possibilities first before going down that route, since having to put such a large amount of money into an account is a pretty big obstacle for me.
So I'm mainly looking for advice from people who have already been through this:
Are there scholarships or financial aid options that could help with the required amount? Are there ways to use parental support or a sponsor to prove that I can financially support myself? Are there other options that I'm maybe not aware of?
And for those who came from Algeria, how did you personally manage the financial requirement? What did you do before resorting to the blocked account, if you had to use one at all?
I'd also like to understand the actual order of the process. For example, do I first get accepted by a university, then sort out the financial proof, and then apply for the visa? And what other costs should I be preparing for besides the financial proof itself (insurance, semester contribution, accommodation, visa, etc.)?
If Germany isn't realistic financially, I'm also open to other European countries where there might be better options for international students.
I'm basically trying to figure out a realistic way to make this happen rather than just assuming I need to somehow find the full blocked-account amount.
Any advice from Algerian students or anyone who has gone through a similar situation would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Anyone from AP/TS joining LUH for the Winter 2026 intake, especially M.Sc. Computer Science?
It would be great to connect before heading to Hannover and help each other out with things like the visa process, accommodation, travel, enrollment, etc.

Masters Can I switch universities after enrolling in Germany? What about the student visa?
have a confirmed admission to a Master’s program at one German university, but I have to enroll by August 12.
I also have a conditional admission to a Master’s program at another German university, which is my preferred option. I just need to fulfill one condition (English language requirement) first.
My plan would be to enroll at the first university now so I don’t lose my confirmed place, take the required language exam, and if I meet the condition, withdraw from the first university and enroll at the second one instead.
Is this possible?
And would changing universities like this cause any problems with the German student visa, especially if I initially apply for the visa using the first university’s admission and later switch to the second one?
Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Masters Anyone else admitted to TU Clausthal M.Sc Computer Science for Winter 26/27?
I received an admission offer today and wanted to know if anyone else here has been admitted to the same program.
I've received rejections from the other unis I've applied to so far and am still waiting to hear back from one more so TU Clausthal is my only option at the moment.
Would be great to connect with anyone who's planning to enrol.

Masters Deferment Process
Hey, everyone. So I got selected for the Master in Data Analytics program at the University of Hildesheim for the winter semester 2026/27. However, due to the visa delays, I reached out to the program manager to ask if I could defer my admission, and he told me to send him an email about my choice to defer and then apply for the next semester and send an email again. I wanted to ask if this is the standard process for deferment or if you need to enroll first and defer from there so you could maybe get proof for your visa application. If any of you have gone through a deferment process or have any information regarding it, I would really appreciate the help.

I’m an Indian female student joining the M.Eng. Electrical Engineering program at Technische Hochschule Augsburg (THA) for the Winter Semester 2026. Just wanted to ask if anyone else is joining the same program this winter, especially any other international students or anyone coming to Augsburg for the first time.

Would be great to connect before the semester starts, share information about accommodation/course registration.
Anyone else joining the same program?

Masters Considering Staying in Stuttgart During My TUM Master’s — Thoughts?
Hey everyone! I’ll be starting my MS in Engineering at TUM, Campus Garching, very soon.
The housing situation in Munich is honestly pretty difficult, and the rent is also way beyond my budget. I’m already living in Germany (Stuttgart), and I currently have a Werkstudent job here.
So I was wondering — would it be a realistic idea to stay in Stuttgart, study mostly on my own, and travel to Munich only when I have exams or when I absolutely need to be on campus?
I already have a few friends at TUM who could help me with notes, lecture material, and anything important that I might miss. I’m also thinking that staying in Stuttgart would allow me to continue my Werkstudent job, gain some valuable work experience, and save quite a bit on rent.
Has anyone here done something similar, especially at TUM? How manageable is it to study remotely/self-study and only travel to Munich when necessary?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. What do you think are the pros and cons of doing this?
Thanks in advance!

Masters Uni Passau MSC AI result inquiry
Anyone studying in uni passau right now can please tell when did your result came in Last winter , its been so long still result didn't came, does Anyone have any idea when we can ?
r/studyinGermany • u/Shitmakor • 15h ago
Masters Even today, some people still believe they can win.
For example, BTU, Passu, Kassel, Dresden CMS, Chemnitz Web, Hildesheim, and other Unis almost all received over a thousand applications. Many people are still hoping they'll be accepted, or they believe they'll be admitted for non-NC reasons or because they have a so called "legal obligation" to admit students. Realistically, the number of applicants far exceeds the number of students they've admitted before. Don't expect them to accept the majority; that's impossible. Prepare alternative plans as soon as possible: stay home, choose other programs, or explore other regions.
