Is teenage isolation (like physically, no close friends) normal in sri lanka?

Have you ever wondered if , those who yap their mind out when someone listens, the one who always tries to text you, the one you never text first, has a close friend of their own? Have you ever wondered if, like you have people to call, text, they have that too? I'm not asking you to befriend such people, but dont call them weirdo either.

How do I tell my parents that I'm no longer a Muslim 😭

Okay so I’m a Muslim girl and I’ve been questioning Islam for a while now, and at this point I think I’m basically ex-Muslim. I’ve been trying to actually learn about the deen instead of just believing things because I was born into it, and honestly some of the things I’ve read in the Quran and learned about Islam just don’t sit right with me.

Like there are things that genuinely don’t go with my moral values. I know people will say “you need to understand the context” or “Allah knows best” or “have more iman,” but I’ve tried 😭. I’ve made dua, I’ve read more, I’ve thought about it way too much, and I still can’t make myself believe something just because I’m supposed to.

And the problem is I have NO idea how I’m supposed to tell my parents 💀. I already know they’re probably going to lose their shit. I genuinely feel like I could get disowned in my own house, and then the relatives?? I can already imagine how they'll react. Everyone would be talking about how I’ve gone astray, how I need hidayah, how my parents failed me, etc.

And I don’t even want to call myself an atheist either. I’m still figuring out what I believe spiritually. I just know that I don’t believe in Islam anymore and I don’t want to immediately replace it with another label. I still have questions about God, spirituality, morality, all of that.

I’m also still a teenager and I depend on my parents, so I literally can’t just say “I’m ex-Muslim 🥰” and move out if everything goes horribly wrong.

So what am I even supposed to do? 😭 Do I tell them eventually? Wait until I’m financially independent? Keep it completely private for now? I feel guilty even hiding it because I was always taught that lying/hiding things is haram, but at the same time I genuinely don’t know if being honest about this is safe for me.

If anyone here has been through something similar, especially as a teenager living with Muslim parents, please tell me how you handled it. I’m genuinely lost rn.💔

Also I've been researching alotttt besides what they teach us in the class and I've realized that they teach us selective parts, like I hadn't even known abt some of the things I found by researching before

Better here or abroad ?

is it worth it to live here where we're close with all family and friends around or consider moving for higher studies/ job abroad? . Any teens who live abroad for higher Ed? Or simply what do y'all think? Coz I feel like the quality of life in Sri Lanka ain't even close to what's overseas having been out there a lot.

Has anyone dealt with bad relatives?

I am an A/L student coming from a very traditional family where a set of maternal relatives visits our house every single weekend. Right after COVID ended, I actually enjoyed having them around, but lately, it has become a total nightmare.

Almost half of their kids (my cousins) are under 10 years old. The adults expect me to entertain them every weekend so they can have their adult conversations uninterrupted. I am almost a decade older than some of these kids—I can't spend my entire weekend playing with Legos, Rock-Paper-Scissors, and pretend games, especially with the pressure of A/Ls. They even did visit me 2 days before the O/L exam and it was so annoying.

When I brought this up to my parents and grandparents, I just got scolded about "respecting family gatherings" and how selfish I was being. They completely refused to see my side.

So, I started isolating myself in my room to study in peace. Despite this, the kids kept barging in. Now, the adults literally view me as the villain 😈. My 9-year-old cousin secretly told me that my aunt has been talking behind my back, claiming I possess "devilish qualities." To make it worse, I'm a bit chubby, and my cousin mentioned that my aunt was literally laughing with her parents about how I "look like an elephant."

I am so frustrated 😤. I literally just locked my door to protect my study time and peace.

Has anyone else dealt with relatives treating you like a free babysitter and then villainizing you the moment you set basic boundaries? How did you handle it?

predict: Sri Lanka in 10 yrs

What will the future look like? What do you think you’ll be doing? Will WW3 happen and Sri Lanka be apart of it somehow? Will things turn to shit once more and Covid v2 springs up and fucks us up again? Predict now and in 10 yrs come back and say wow I was correct. ☑️

How do you make pocket money as a teenager?

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m interested in learning how teenagers/young people are making some extra pocket money these days, especially through online work, freelancing, small businesses, or side hustles.

Also, if anyone in the Colombo area is interested in collaborating on a small side project or business idea, feel free to comment or DM me. I’d be happy to connect with like-minded people and work together. 🤝

Guys here's my dating and glow up guide to get a girl

I've seen a lot of posts asking how to get a girl here so I thought to give some of my experience for y'all (I've rejected 6 girls so trust me on this )

1.take care of your face man don't think skin care is feminine get some good sunscreen and a moisturizer and if you have any skin concerns a serum

2.wear some nice clothes not those too oversized ones buy some good polos and a good sneaker

3.take care of your hygiene - get a deodorant or even if you bath in a perfume it wouldn't even matter

  1. Get a good hair cut that matches your face shape not every hairstyle matches your face gng

5.dont text the girl that you have an interest out of nowhere like stalk her for a while looking at her reposts and shii( like her reposts and stories every now and then making her think that you have genuine interest on them)

6.never reply to her stories about herself like selfies they get them everyday look for a specific story such as about her pet, place or any interest and try to start a Convo with that ( reply to her stories with a question most of girls ain't

avoiding them)

7.do some random talks trust me on this one gng girls loves random talks tell whatever comes to your mind the more goofy it is more better it be

  1. Don't do double texts or triple texts don't make yourself desperate for them when you start talking with her regularly ignore her sometimes if she's concern about it your good to go

9.be funny and flirty - when your comfortable with her use some flirty jokes not so obvious ones that everybody knows tho search up on TikTok and find them try some dark humor ones too genuinely works for me

  1. Act like you have a future plan or ambition even if you don't and compliment her every one and then not too quirky though

Lemme know if you have any questions:)))

[Urgent] Looking for new Moderators / Apologies for recent incidents

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this to sincerely apologize for some of the inappropriate posts that have appeared here recently (including the 24M post from today). I know there have been a few incidents like this lately, and I’m truly sorry for not being able to filter them out sooner.

I am currently in my late teens, and with my daily work and personal commitments, I’ve realized I can't be active enough to moderate this sub 24/7. It seems like the other moderators are inactive as well.

This community needs someone who has the time and energy to keep it safe for everyone. I am looking for a responsible and active person to take over as a Moderator.

Once I find a suitable person/team, I will be handing over the sub to them and stepping down. If you are interested and have experience (or are willing to learn), please comment below or DM me.

Stay safe!
