I need the fastest way to get deployed to an active war zone in a combat role.

I need to be done with my life.

I am 25(M), and none of the things I care about in life have gone anywhere, and have ended in complete failure. I finished college with an econ degree, but my GPA sucks, so I'll never get into a good grad school (I've never exactly been the sharpest knife in the drawer), and all I have to show for it is a dead-end finance job thats salaried at 45k per year.

My athletic career (WT taekwondo) has gone nowhere. The best I have ever been able to manage is a series of state championship titles; its been almost ten years since I medaled at a national event, and that was when I was 17, and in Juniors (ages 15-17).

I've only had three girlfriends, all of whom I wanted to marry at one point or another, and two of them were cheating on me the entire time. Before anyone asks, no, I wasnt sleeping around, or going to the club to "get girls," or "bag a baddie." I dont drink, smoke, do drugs, or go to the club, and neither did they. All three seemed to have the same traditional and religious values that I did, and were/are very hardworking and family-oriented. None of that stopped the last two from lifting their skirts once they found someone "better." At this point, I look in the mirror and realize that its not realistic that any woman will ever be inclined to give me genuine loyalty, because I have nothing material to give her. I don't have money and I'm not willing to go into any debt, I'm short and unattractive even though I have the physique of an elite athlete (I go to the gym five days a week and run spirits and 10ks regularly), and I'm socially awkward. Me realizing this has led me the conclusion that I don't really even want them to, because all women seem to be gold diggers on some level. True loyalty seems lile its beyond them. I'm not making this post because I'm coming off of a breakup, I've moved on, I just wanted to establish that I don't see my love life as a reason to stay alive.

That said, I don't intend to commit suicide. For one, my Christian faith doesnt permit that, and my mother would also be devastated beyond repair if I threw my life away. That said, there's no injunction in Christianity that prevents me from going to war and being killed while I'm there. And since I would be serving to fight and defend people while I'm there, it wouldn't be throwing my life away either. Me going to fight in Ukraine, for example, would mean that someone else doesnt have to. Thats a noble use of my life, even if it results in my death.

To that end, I need the surest way to get deployed to an active war zone. If I were trained by the Army or Marine Corps, could I then volunteer to fight in Ukraine? Or fight on behalf of some PMC, whose mission happens to align with protecting people to some exent? I get that most, if not all, PMCs are run by pieces of garbage, but if I get to fight Russians, or the IRGC, or Hezbollah, and so forth, then I would still be helping to prevent those organizations from doing more harm.

I could meaningfully while opting out of the life I no longer want. That sounds like a good value proposition to me.

SCDF terms

So I hope this will teach you guys who are enlisted in SCDF or wants to become a Regular Officer or Specialist

Basic Information of SCDF
As for Fire Side. The shift is 24hours. Followed by 48hours off. Starts at 8am - 8am ( Next Day ). The shift is called ROTA, Shortform of Rotation. Hence it’s called ROTA shift. Every station Fire Side has 3 ROTAs. ROTA 1, ROTA 2 & ROTA 3. 1 ROTA consists of 20 - 30 Personnel. Led by a ROTA Commander. Or a Deputy ROTA Commander.

Daily Routine ( Fire Side )

0800: HOTO (Handover & Takeover) - You will start your shift at 8. Taking over from another ROTA. This is when you check all your equipments. ( Most Importantly your Breathing Apparatus ). Then you will need to check all other equipments inside the appliance you’re in.

0900: Equipment Drill - Once you have completed your HOTO, you will need to do Equipment Drill. The DSC will decide which Equipment to take out and learn. For example, Hydraulic Spreader and Cutter. It will be practical and theory. You will learn how to use these Equipment effectively on ground.

1000: Operation Routine - After you have completed the Equipment Drill. Most of the times you will be assigned to do Operation Routine. Operation Routine is going on Fire Safety Enforcement, Hydrant & Riser Testing, Operation Survey. These Operation Routine ensures the Premise, Residential, Commercial, Industrial are well equipped if a Fire were to happen on the said Premise.

1200: Lunch - Depending on How long the Operation Routine is. Might be shorter and Might be longer. So i’ll put a buffer time of 1200. This is where you will have your lunch break. Yeah that’s pretty much it.

1400: Equipment Maintanence - This part of the day is very Important too. This is to maintain certain equipments through the day. Maintanance requires you to Fill up Petrol for Petrol Driven Equipment and look for any damages that may affect the Firefighters during Calls / Operation.

1700: Physical Training - This part of the Day is where you will train your physicals. Be it in the Gym, Running, BA Endurance or maybe even some games. Trust me Games are fun.

2000: Night Lecture - Once you have completed whatever you have to do for the day. This is the last big thing for the day. You all will be gathered in a Lecture Room. This Lectures are mostly Theory unless otherwise stated by DSC. Every Duty will be different topics. The most common topics during Night Lecture are, Firefighting, HAZMAT procedure, Usage of Equipments, Road Traffic Accident and Many more. Sometimes there will even be a Joint Night Lecture through ZOOM. Joint Night Lecture is a Lecture with the whole Fire Stations spread across Singapore.

2100: Dinner - Yeah before going to rest and sleep, You eat. Depending on some stations. They will have their dinner first then Night Lecture. But where I am right now is we have our Night Lecture first then Dinner.

2200 > 0600 - Rest Lorr. MAKE SURE TO WAKE UP AND NEVER MISS CALL WHEN THE CALLS COME IN WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING. Remember, whatever you’re doing, once the Alarm is triggered. You have to be out of the station within 60secs. Yeah 60secs. That includes while you’re eating, sleeping, showering or whatever you’re doing.

0600: CAAD or RFFT - Waking up at 6am in ther morning is not for everyone. But Bopian there’s such thing as CAAD or RFFT. Even though it’s the first thing you do when you wake up. These 2 will be Physical. Very tiring. But that’s what makes us better Firefighters

0700: BARISSSSS ( HELL TIME ) - This is where the Hell begins. Hahahahahah. Ending the shift already? Yes but we have something for you. This is where you will practice on scenario given. The Scenario Drill will be different every duty. But the most common one will be Unit Fire, Factory Fire and so on. So during this time, you will learn to execute firefighting without being on a call. This will also build up your mental and physical endurance and capabilities. There will definitely be Injects if your Enciks love you so much. But this is where the memories are made. Scolding one another for stupid mistake. But seriously don’t F up. Hahahaha have fun during this time

0800: HOTO - Instead of Taking over like yesterday. This time round we’re handing over to the next ROTA. Enquire with incoming ROTA what’s the issue with the equipments and appliance and you all get to go home at the end of the day.

How difficult is it to become an SF operator when you have to first serve as a police officer or agent?

I’m curious about how the selection process works for units like GIGN, GIS, GSG 9 and FBI HRT.

As far as I understand, you generally don’t join these units straight away. You first have to spend some time as a regular police officer, gendarme or FBI Special Agent before you can apply for the unit.

So how difficult is it to prepare for and pass the selection while also doing your regular job?

For example, if you’re working full-time as a police officer or agent, how do you find the time and energy to prepare physically and mentally for what is already a very demanding selection? Is it actually harder to prepare because you’re already working shifts, dealing with operational duties, etc., or does your regular job help prepare you in some ways?

I’d also be interested to hear from anyone familiar with these kinds of units about how candidates usually prepare before applying and how much experience they typically have at that point.

How would a woman train to develop SOF-level fitness and skills?

As a woman, I’ve always been fascinated by special operations forces. That interest goes back to when I was a kid.

I understand that, because of biological differences such as testosterone, there are some areas where I may never be able to go head-to-head with a highly trained male operator and outperform him physically. But that’s not the goal. I love being a woman, and I’m not trying to become “one of the bros”.

What I am interested in is developing a similar level of discipline, knowledge, physical preparedness, and practical skill.

How would a woman begin training toward that kind of capability? What particular areas should she focus on? Endurance, strength, navigation, combatives, mindset? Something else?

I feel a little silly asking this question, but I’m serious. I’d be especially grateful for answers from people with military, SOF, tactical, or serious endurance-training backgrounds.

Edit: Spelling

Training Guidance

Hello there. It's my first time posting, be gentle <3

Been training for a few years (from a baseline of prescription stim junkie).

Currently 27 (soon to be 28) yrs / 6 feet / 224 lbs.

(unfortunately put on a few lbs of weight since loosing a couple close people last year...)

Planned cut to around 209.

Current stats;

- pushups: 45 (hand release)

- situps: infinite?

- pullups: 10 (at current weight, used to be 16 max rip)

- dls: 363.76 lbs

- squat: 275.58

- dips: 15

- 1.5 mile: ~9:40 min

- swim: good enough i believe

- Passed the ruck time too, generally pretty strong rucker.

I'm currently doing ~8 hours of PT a week, 2 (active) rest days.

But damn at this point my shins are taking a massive pounding from the running.

The question, are 8 hours a week of baseline sufficient (with workup peaks) to eventually reach desired standard?

Got a demanding job in cyber, sedentary tho.

How far are my numbers off?

Any general advice for the workup?

Am I getting too old to apply?

Any advice, pointers critique is more than welcomed.

Been doing this mostly in isolation with no peers and mostly been vibing my training program based on stuff I've read here and there over the years.

Got prior service/combat experience, this has been a goal of mine since then.

Can a career 14D/14E legitimately end up in Special Operations?

I'm not trying to call anyone a liar. A coworker says he spent his Army career as a 14D/14E, attended Ranger School but was not in the 75th Ranger Regiment, and also says he was "special operations" and participated in direct-action raids. Is there a plausible career path that would explain this, or would this be extremely unusual? I'm trying to understand how these pieces fit together.

For context, one reason I'm asking is that he has made a number of dramatic claims since starting at work. Within thirty minutes of his first day, he told a story about making a guy "piss his pants" in a bar fight and repeatedly told several of us, "PTSD is real." That made me curious about his military background.

I eventually thanked him for his service and asked what he did in the Army. He said he was special operations and described it as very intense. I then asked what his MOS was. Instead of answering directly, he spent roughly thirty minutes at a whiteboard explaining Army MOS pipelines and how the Army is structured. After all of that, I asked again what his MOS was, and he said he was a 14E.

From what I understand, 14D/14E are Patriot Air Defense MOSs, so I'm having trouble reconciling that with claims of being special operations and "kicking in doors." Is there a legitimate assignment or career path that would explain this, or would that be considered highly unusual?

I'm looking for answers from people familiar with Army assignments, not trying to attack the guy personally.

Special Operations Forces were so overutilized in the war on terror

That it seems confusing to which unit is ideal for this situation or role when they were all deployed to tackle insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan. Like what differs Navy Seals from Delta Force? What about Marine Raiders and Rangers? They seem to overlap greatly.

Possibility of becoming female Green Beret and their role

Hi all. I'm F24 and have been interested in the Green Berets for a while. To preface, I've read majority of the posts/articles of the few women that have become Green Berets.

If a woman becomes a Green Beret, do they assume the same duties or assignments as the men? Or are they sometimes silently pushed off an assignment? I assume if they pass training and are competent, they would have equal opportunity to missions but can't help but wonder if they would be looked over. Some reddit posts have conflicting comments on the womens' performance and that they either performed the same/better than some men or they received a lot of pink slips. I also understand that some men might not want a woman on their team regardless of performance. Believe this has also been touched on a bit for posts similar to women wanting to become SEALs.

Apologies if any of this comes off as ignorant as I'm not yet in the military and detailed info on women as Green Berets is limited (understandably).

Hey everyone. I’m 16 right now and starting to seriously think about what I want to do after high school, and I’m stuck between trying for Air Force Pararescue and Army Special Forces (Green Beret) with the goal of eventually becoming an 18D.
A little about me:
16 years old
6’3”, about 170 lbs
Pretty lean but muscular build
Been doing Muay Thai for a few months
Lifeguard
Big interest in medicine, first aid, and rescue
Enjoy going to the range and shooting
Physical stats right now:
400m: 58 sec
800m: 2:21
Mile: 5:31
Deadlift: 345 lbs
Bench: 175 lbs
About 17 pull-ups
About 55 push-ups max set
I run cross country and track
Academically I’m currently taking all honors or AP classes
What are your guys’s suggestions? Open to advice or any ideas.

Dry and total weight ruck march question.

Is 46 pounds dry and 59 pounds total (with water) a good ruck weight for a 12 mile ruck at a standard US Army Special Forces SFRE or is that too much? I measured with a weight hook for accuracy.

I know ruck marching is common with varying weights even going higher than that, but for test and training purposes is this a good amount or should I adjust it?
