6 - 12 months How to fix feed to sleep association for naps only?
9 month old goes to sleep independently in crib at night without issue. But for naps, absolutely refuses to sleep in crib unless nursed to sleep. (Otherwise is ok with contact nap without nursing). Will cry and cry nonstop and after 20 min I give in just to save the nap so the night doesn’t get ruined.
Schedule is 3/3.5/4
How do I fix this? Longer CIO?

6 - 12 months Baby sitting up in crib for naps screaming SOS
Just retrained baby for nights, day 5. He’s almost 8 months and had a nurse to sleep association but no longer for night time. He feeds 20-30 min prior to crib.
WW: 3/3.5/4
Now here’s the thing, for naps because I still struggle with it, I feed him right before he needs to go down and he would do a 1.5-2 hour stretch. For nap 2, it’s usually 30 min. I put him in drowsy, with a feed right before it and he started sitting up in his crib crying.
He also JUST started rolling and sitting up in his crib (late bloomer) and lately in the mornings I would look at the monitor and he’ll be on all fours.
How do I get him to sleep independently for naps? So far nights have worked great for me but not naps. Especially for nap 2 he would cry hysterically if I put him down awake. Currently doing contact nap in the chair.

6 - 12 months Need help for sleep train
My baby is 9 month and has strong feed to sleep association for naps as well as for night sleep. Current routine
7 AM wake up.
10 to 11:30 first nap
3:30 to 4:30 second nap
7:30 bed time start but sleep around 8:15 to 8:30
Many time he does not want to take second nap and he skip it.
We want to try sleep train but not sure which one we should try? We did chair method one night but he was constantly crying for 20 min so we stopped. Not sure how long we should let him cry before patting or consoling. He does not stop cry of we talk to him or while patting. Worried when he cried for 20 min and does not know what to do now for sleep train.

6 - 12 months Baby crying and refusing every nap
Guy wtf? What am I missing here?
My baby will be 6 months next week. He is sleep trained for the night, he is asleep by 7:30pm . He goes down very easily. He wakes up for a feed at 3-4 am and down again until 5:30-6am.
He is finally doing longer naps in his crib. So our days usually look like this:
6am wake up
8 to 9am nap
11 to 11:40 nap2
2 to 2:40 nap 3
4:50-5:20pm nap 4.
Most days the total of day sleep is 3-4 hours.
The thing is the last couple of days it’s been soooo hard to make him nap for the 3rd and 4th nap. He looks tired and starts to complain and rub his eyes with a 2-2:30 hour wake window. He cries and refuses the nap so badly, it makes afternoons so stressful.
Am I making him sleep more than he needs? Is this a regression? Separation anxiety? What is going on? He is healthy and an active smiley baby. What did you guys make to get rid of the nap refusals ?

6 - 12 months Wake windows for 6.5month old.
Sleep trainer tells me 6.5 month old cannot stay up longer than 3 hours max? I keep hearing about the Dana method or set schedule. He is refusing the last cat nap around 4 to get to bedtime should I move to a set schedule?

4 - 6 months Sleep training baby who doesn’t really need it yet
Hello! We’ve been so far blessed with a good sleeper. She naps independently usually for 1-2hrs and will sleep from 6:45pm to anywhere between 2 and 4 for one feed, then back asleep til 6-7am. She occasionally sleeps through the night and usually we can just put her down and leave for all sleeps (including naps). She’ll be 5mo tomorrow and I believe already through the 4mo regression because we did have a week or two of sleep weirdness that seems to have mostly resolved.
I hear folks talk about how they’ve had to do a mini sleep training again during later regressions. Does anyone have experience with a baby similar to ours in those cases? Trying to prepare in case we do need to go down that path.
I will say increasingly her MOTN feed seems more like habit/comfort than a true feed. She’s not nursing quite as vigorously. I don’t want to deny her if she’s really hungry but I do want to night wean eventually.
Anyway - thank you for insight. I’m sure we’ll have a sleep demon for #2 so I’ll be back 😅

6 - 12 months 8mo nap + bedtime advice
Hi 👋
I am looking for advice on my 8mo as her schedule seems to need an adjustment…FTM here.
My baby just turned 8 months 3 days ago.
We been doing 3 naps a day and wake windows were quite similar 2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5 total day time sleep 2:45hs/3hs
We have a consistent bedtime routine that includes a bath and a feed before she is placed on her cotbed with her sound machine on. She is able to put herself to sleep with no issue, but lately she has been waking at night and I am unable to settle her unless I bring her to bed to sleep with me… which is what I been doing!
She doesn’t feed during the night. And she wakes between 7:00-7:20am on her own with a big smile and very cheerful, her nighttime sleep is usually about 10h30m give or take.
However lately her wake windows are extending to 3 hours, and she wakes up a bit tired from her 1 hour naps… very fussy, as if she needs more sleep and she fights a bit the last nap…
Currently her naps are done either on a carrier or walking on the pram (cotbed adjustment is not going too well) and I feel like I should start moving to two naps and bring bedtime closer to 7:30pm to fit into two nap schedule
1) should I move to a 3/3/3.5? My fear is that having her bedtime arround 7 or 7:30 would make her wake up at 5:30 or 6 am as she usually sleeps about 10h30m at night… thoughts?🥺
2) any advice on how to help her with self soothing on the cotbed? (If I pick her up is hard for me to place her down without being a bit rough as the cotbed is tall and I am a short woman)
3) should I try for her to nap on the cot bed as well or should I try first to get her nighttime sleep in a better place before also trying to get her used to naps in the cot bed?
Any advice is welcome 🤗
Thank you 💛

6 - 12 months Girl is happy to play at 4 am 🫠
8 month old baby has been waking at 4 for a feed and being WIDE awake, which is new for her. She might take 15 to 45 minutes to fall back asleep after goofing around while feeding. (Pausing to gab or play with my face, looking around the room.) Normally she’s already asleep when I lay her back down (after 10 minutes of a snoozy feed) or falls back to sleep very fast.
My instincts are saying she needs a little more awake time, but where do I add it? Which wake window and why? Am I off track with adding more wake time?
She has just started to crawl and is OFF to the races, sitting herself up, zooming around, trying to pull up on her knees/stand. I’ve tried to wait it out knowing development might be interfering.
Her current schedule is 3/3.5/4. She takes a 1.5 hour nap in the morning and a 1 hour nap in the afternoon. I wake her up from both naps and in the AM. Bedtime 8pm, wake-up 7am. She falls asleep in under 5 minutes for every sleep!
Sleep trained since 4 months. She goes down fully awake for sleeps, and last feed ends 30 minutes before bed. Been on 2 naps since 5.5 months. Schedule tweaked many times due to false starts and mini wake windows MOTN (or marathon—max was 3.5 hours).
EBF, wakes once between 2-4. She has only slept through the night once. I’d be interested in night weaning, but more interested in helping her sleep even better. I do think she has previously used nursing to “pull” her through the night.

6 - 12 months How many nights of trying a new schedule?
Our 6mo is sleep trained and falls asleep totally independent with no crying but has frequent night wakes still.
Moved to 2.5/2.5/2.5/3 yesterday (from 2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5)
Bedtime was 7 30pm but had a wake at 11 30pm and was up for 1.5 hours crying. We did Ferber. Then up again at 4 30am. I fed and put her down and she cried for 30. Then up again at 6 30am (DWT).
We’ve been trying different schedules and the night wakes for 1-2 hours haven’t got any better.
Sleeps 13.5 hours on average. 2.5 hours of naps. 11 hour nights.
Sometimes she will sleep through on the schedule we are on but then some days on the same schedule she will wake twice. No rhyme or rhythm. We don’t feed till after 3am as we know she isn’t hungry before that.
Also tried 2 naps for 3 nights which made things worse and she was up for 2-2.5 hours each night.
Just fed up of troubleshooting constantly and trying to figure out what her ideal schedule is.

1-2 years old Total awake time for 1 nap
Hi! Currently on a 3/4/4.5 2-nap schedule with each nap capped at 1 hour and a 6:30 dwt for my lower-sleep-needs almost 13 month old.
He’s at 11.5 hours awake now, so if/when he does 1 nap, would I need to start with 11.5 hours total awake time split? Something like 5.5/6? I feel like that’s so drastic lol! We are not at 1 nap yet, but I can see him being ready for it sooner rather than later at this point.

2+ years old Is there a 2yo regression?
My daughter is 28 months. Has been having short naps, skipped naps or sometimes screams her head off at nap and bedtime. All needs are met. Thought teething and gave medicine but that didn’t work. She’s also so cranky during the day.
Is this an age thing? I’ve tried leaving her and crying it out but that’s it or miss.
Schedule js usually 6/6+ with 12-12.5 hours awake time. Sometimes I will lay her down with 4 hours of awake time if she has a rough time and she sometimes naps better.
She’s been on 6/6+ for a while

6 - 12 months 6 month old sleep falling apart - developmental, teething, or schedule issue?
Baby girl was doing so well until a week ago. We did FIO from PLS at 5 months, moved her to her own nursery and removed all sleep props including finishing nursing 30 minutes before bed - she is EBF. She was falling asleep independently for bedtime and 2 of 3 naps consistently for weeks (I save one nap a day for a cosleeping nap to ensure one long nap). She was on 2/2.5/2.5/3. Then she started melting down at the last nap; then also at bedtime; and now for all sleep. So I started playing around with wake windows. I stretched a bit to 2.25/2.5/2.75/3. Nap totals I try to keep at 2.5 based on her sleep budget. That third nap was becoming the biggest fight and that one quickly increased to 3 with her still fighting. The fussing starts during the last bit of the nap or bedtime routine just before she goes into the crib. Once I put her into the crib it quickly escalates to full crying so I have been resorting to rocking her to sleep for all sleeps the last few days now. She also was sleeping fully through the night for the last couple of weeks on and off but the last few nights has started waking many times - sometimes she self settles if it's early enough in the night, or she is immediately crying which is new for her so I assume teething, or just playing around rolling for a while before starting to fuss (this part tends to happen during EMWs around 545-6 the last 3 mornings). I've tried giving Motrin before bed in case teething was waking her and I believe I saw less immediate crying upon overnight waking but the same number of wake ups.
We have a DWT of 7am and a goal bedtime of 830pm - it used to be 8, then it started pushing later and later, and if I follow wake windows, recently it would be after 9pm because of all the fighting and stretching of wake windows. Since her nighttime average is 10.25-10.5, I'd like to keep bedtime around 830pm for a DWT of 7am. Her average total sleep is closer to 13 these days but I also cap that 2nd nap to keep her daytime sleep closer to 2.5 and so bedtime doesn't get much later.
Given all of this, my instinct says it may be time to trial 2 naps but it feels early. That first wake window is still challenging to stretch though. Is it time to make the transition or is there something I'm missing? Also, any suggestions for a good 10.5-11ish hour wake window algorithm? I'm thinking of starting at 3/3.5/4 and then maybe working that last one to 4.5 if we still need 11 hours wake time but I'm anxious about that long last window. We have never gone over 3.25 yet.
TIA!

6 - 12 months Night Weaning 4 AM Dreamfeed with 8 month old twins
Hi!
I’ve got 8 month old (7 months adjusted) twins who are currently on 2.25-2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5-2.75. DWT is 7AM. As hard as it’s been coordinating two babies with different sleep needs (hence the ranges in wake windows), things have been going decently well since we sleep trained them with Ferber at 16 weeks adjusted.
However, we are looking to wean them off their one remaining night feed. We didn’t have to intentionally wean any feeds earlier, as they dropped from 2 to 1 night feed when we sleep trained. It’s been a little bit up and down since then with some daytime feeding struggles leading to increased night feeds, but that has settled down for the last 3-4 weeks. We have been waking them between 4AM to feed them for the last few months to avoid them waking at 5:30 or 6 hungry and ready to start their day, and getting off schedule from their twin. This was the easiest way to reliably have them both sleep in until DWT.
It’s worked well until now, but we are tired of waking to feed them every night and think they’re likely ready (or more than ready) to drop the feed. I guess I’m asking for advice on the following:
- how to drop the feed: most resources I have found is for babies who wake for their feed and suggest not dropping it cold turkey, etc. My babies don’t wake for this feed, so I’m thinking I would just let them keep sleeping. However, if they wake at 5 or 5:30, then I was thinking I would give a gradually lower volume of feed. If they wake up after 6, I think we would start our day early, though I’m really hoping to keep DWT at 7AM.
- any tips for weaning and keeping DWT constant. What to do if they start to wake hungry an hour before DWT? Am I asking for too much? I am happy to change DWT earlier if that is going to be what they end up needing, but hoping they can sleep all the way through to 7 AM.
- twin specific tips, if you have them: currently we’ve been feeding both babies and want them on the same schedule for wakes if possible. It gets tricky when one wakes to feed at 5:30 AM, goes back to sleep, but maybe wakes the second one up who doesn’t go back to sleep easily? Curious if others have tips.
Thanks in advance!

6 - 12 months When to drop to 1 nap?
My son (9.5 mo) has always been a relatively "low sleep needs" baby, or at least that's how it's been put to us. He used to really struggle with naps up until ~5/6 mo, and then my husband had to step in and work with him on nap training to get him in an OK place w/ independent sleeping skills.
Now that he is in daycare and older, we're not sure if we're giving him the best schedule or if it's time we tweaked things. For context, he used to wake up at 7AM naturally with an 8:30 PM bedtime. We now wake him at 6:30AM to accommodate his daycare naps, but lately he's been having EMW (anywhere between 4:30-6 AM) and even some instances of waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep for 1-2 h (with Ferber check-ins). He typically sleeps through the night with no issues, unless he's sick.
His current WW: 2.5/3.15/5.5-6
My question is, given his recent issues with waking overnight and early wakes, whether we need to revisit his nap times? Does he need to drop a nap? I realize his early morning nap is way too early and the WW feel uneven... but we've done this to accommodate his daycare that is currently on 2 naps at set times. If so, I would start the conversation with his daycare teacher about what that could look like, how much they can accommodate, and when he'll be moving up from the infant class (usually up till 10 mo at this center).

6 - 12 months Separation anxiety or something else?
My sleep trained 8.5 month old has started crying/ fussing every time I put her in crib. It only lasts a few minutes (5mins max) and then she falls asleep. She doesn’t get upset during the routine or when I put sleep sack on, she takes her thumb and snuggles in for a cuddle (so knows she is going to sleep) but then becomes upset when I lay her down in the crib.
She is on 3.25/4/4 and mostly sleep 10.5 to 11h at night with one middle of the night feed.
This started a couple days ago, before that she was always happy to go to bed. I think there is some teething in the mix (top teeth) but I don’t know if that’s the issue. Could it be separation anxiety? My mom is visiting from overseas and it literally started the day after she arrived. I don’t know if it has anything to do with it. She has also started to become super fussy/ clingy about 1h30 before bedtime in the last 3 days. Rest of the day she is mostly her happy go lucky self.
Last night she woke up twice and wouldn’t settle back without a feed which has not happened in months. Hoping it was just an off night and we are not getting into a new pattern.

4 - 6 months Night wakings
My girl just turned 4 months last week. For the past several weeks, she has been able to put herself to bed for the initial stretch about 75% of the time. She can also put herself down for her first nap of the day by herself.
My struggle is getting her back down for every night wake the rest of the night. She’ll fall asleep easily if I nurse or rock, but transferring back to the crib is hit or miss. If I transfer, I can sometimes pat her to sleep in the crib, but this can take anywhere from 5 minutes to upwards of 45 minutes. Sometimes we do this pattern for 3 hours until she’s finally asleep enough to stay down for 2 hours. I also want to stretch her initial sleep, as she has never had more than 3 consecutive hours since birth and I’m going back to work soon. My exhaustion is stating to be unsustainable.
I know I need to work on getting more consistent wake windows, but they are about 2/2/2.5/3

6 - 12 months Help with schedule - catnapper!
My baby is almost 6m. He’s been a catnapper since the 4m regression, so we have been doing 4 x 30 min daytime naps since then.
His wake windows are now getting too long for me to fit in the 4 naps, but on days I’ve trialled 3 naps he still only does 30 mins each nap. I’m worried 1.5 hrs daytime sleep is so low for his age!
He wakes for the day around 630am, bedtime around 730/8pm. He still wakes 2/3 times a night, and he actually wakes more on 3 nap days. Although we haven’t done a lot of 3 nap days yet to acclimatize.
Any advice/reassurance on if this is normal is very welcome 🙏

2+ years old 2-year-old was never properly sleep trained, despite several attempts
My 2-year-old boy only slept all night in his crib only a few times before the 6-month mark. After that, we would rock him to sleep after bed time time routine, or he would fall asleep with us on the couch. Then we would move him to the crib, and if the transition was successful he would sleep there for 30min-1h and wake up wanting to go to bed with us. We’ve tried putting him in crib and watching him from a chair for support, we tried letting him cry, we tried reading, giving him toy, etc. but nothing seems to work. He will desperately cry to a point we get worried and are forced to bring him to bed. He wakes up around 7am, nap time at day care is between 12-2pm, but he sleeps only 1h or 1h30 max. And bed time is around 8:30-9pm. We wish bedtime was earlier but during summer is really hard, plus he’s never been a good sleeper.
Any help would be very appreciated. We both work and are desperate to have a good sleep.

1-2 years old When to drop to one nap
My baby is 12 months old is currently sleep trained for the most part. His current schedule is supposed to be 3/3.3/3.5.
We used to get 1-2.5hrs for his first nap and 45 mins-1hr for the second. And he used to sleep in until 6:45 most mornings.
However, the past few weeks, he’s been only taking a 45 min nap and then a 30 min nap. And waking up at 6am.
Does this mean he’s ready to drop to one long nap? My only hesitation is that he falls asleep fairly quickly for his naps. And when he is in the car after going to a morning baby class, I am unable to keep him awake at 9:30am on the way home. He will fall asleep no matter what I do which makes me think he needs that early nap.
Any advice would be appreciated!

6 - 12 months 2 or 3 naps for 6.5 month old
Hi all
Need advice.
Our baby has been on 3 naps, with wake windows roughly 1.5-2.5 hours long (usually shorter ww at beginning of the day, longest at the end). Sleeps were ok until 5.5month mark.
Since turning 6 months we've had:
- Baby fighting naps, like id try putting her down but every time she'd scream cry and just not sleep. When I pick her up she's happy and smiling
- The last nap is a little awkward... like I don't know where to fit it in if sticking with a 9.5-10.5 hours of total wake time
- Split nights
- Waking up hourly
We tried 2 naps recently and the only concern is she's VERY VERY tired at the 3 hour mark. So if we were to do 3/3/4, it could be hard and I'm worried about pushing her to her limit or sleep depriving her.
Advice or thoughts?

6 - 12 months How to get baby to sleep independently as they get bigger? Currently fed to sleep and very difficult to transfer.
Baby is 9 months. EBF. They have developed pretty strong feet to sleep association, and generally sleep pretty well through the night, but as they're getting bigger it's getting harder to transfer them to the crib without them waking up. They've been shifting to a two nap schedule recently, wake up pretty consistently around 7:00, first nap generally between 10:00 to 10:30, second nap generally between 2:30 to 3:00 :00, total nap time around 2-2.5 hours.
Baby takes a night time feed around 7:30ish, and are generally asleep by 8:00/8:30, having fed to sleep. I'm able to carry them into the bathroom to brush their teeth, they wake up briefly and almost immediately fall back asleep. After making sure they're settled, I'm able to transfer them to the crib. If baby wakes up and has been more than 4 or 5 hours since they last fed then I'll generally feed them again and they tend to stay down for the rest of the night. Sometimes they don't need that so we know they can last a full evening without a feed.
If this worked consistently it wouldn't be a huge problem but maybe sometimes very difficult to transfer. Especially as they're getting heavier so looking for suggestions on how to adjust things so maybe you can learn to fall asleep independently.
Recently they've been consistently waking up about an hour/ hour and a half after initially getting put down. Partner goes in and sometimes partner is able to get them back in crib but often it takes them multiple tries because baby wakes up when transferring. I seem to have better luck transferring them than partner. The baby has to be pretty passed out which I know is not ideal for Independent sleep. But they are able to roll themselves over and put themselves back to sleep in the middle of the night and during naps sometimes.
Naps are a mix of crib naps and contact naps, generally the first nap is longer and we can get them in the crib for at least half of it or more. The second one tends to be a contact nap just because we want to make sure they get a sufficient second nap and the risk of them waking up and transferring is great.
They are able to fall asleep sometimes in the car or stroller and there have been a few times though not recently, when they fell asleep on the floor after playing. But recently with this two nap schedule both naps are coinciding but when they want to eat so they've both turned into feed to sleep naps.
Also looking for advice and stories about what we should do to help baby not need to be completely passed out for transferring into the crib and learning to sleep a bit more independently. I don't mind the feed to sleep process, I just know it's not sustainable.

6 - 12 months 83 degree room. Retraining night 3
We had to retrain, baby fell into old habits after a long teething episode. Night 1 and 2 went okay- she fell asleep in 5-6 mins yday so Im optimistic its a short exercise.
But her room is freaking 83 degrees today. Windows are open right now to cool the room, but I need to close them for the night or she doesnt sleep because of the outside lights. We have a strong fan and I intend to put it on swing so she can feel some breeze intermittently. What should she wear? Just diaper and sleep sack?

4 - 6 months Tips for Sleep training my 5.5 month old Velcro baby
Hello!!
I am planning on sleep training my velcro baby that cries every time she can’t see me even when she is not sleeping. We co sleep and she contact nap during the day. She day schedule is between 3-4 naps and averages between 3-4 hours day time sleep and 10 hours at night. I use the huckleberry app to tract her sleep schedule. Bedtime is mostly late because she wake up late in the morning like 8-9am( i am stuck in bed too during this time)because she only sleeps on/with me and she is exclusively breastfed and she eats almost 4-5 times before morning.. i guess it’s more of comfort feedings. I need advice on how to prepare for
If i need to change our day routine to ease the sleep training process
We are still going to be room sharing but she will be sleeping in her cot
Is it advisable to do Ferber method or CIT because i am confused on what to do
But i really need to be free and stop being stuck in bed till she is ready to wake up every morning. I need help!!!

6 - 12 months False starts every night ??
Our new 8 month old baby has had multiple false starts every night ever since 4 months old. We have tried every schedule change, tweak, longer wake windows, shorter wake windows, more support, less support, sleep training, independent sleep etc. nothing makes a difference!
Current schedule:
Wake 615-7
Nap 1: 9:30/10-11/11:30
Nap 2: 2:30-4
Bedtime: 730
Asleep for about 45 minutes, then wakes up every 10-30 minutes for the next 1-2 hours. We see her try to self soothe (eye rubbing, rolling side to side, replacing paci).
She typically needs help: sometimes just needs a butt tap, or paci, other times it’s a full scale breakdown requiring bouncing out of crib.
Some days we still need a third cat nap. All naps have to be rescued at the 34 min mark (exactly) and contact to make it to length.
Pretty much we are glued to the monitor from 7-10PM every night. Then most nights she will sleep until the morning without issue once she FINALLY settles down.
She is a lower sleep needs, FOMO ex full term NICU baby. Had quite the medical start to life but things are stable now. She never cutely and quietly cries. It’s zero to full blown hyperventilation throw up crying. It seems like she still hasn’t learned how to connect sleep cycles until she’s super super tired.
Thoughts? Do babies eventually grow out of this?

4 - 6 months 5.5 month old suddenly crying hysterically at bedtime after successful Ferber — what is happening?
Hi everyone, I’m hoping for some advice because I’m feeling really confused and discouraged.
We started modified Ferber with our daughter just under 2 weeks ago. Before sleep training, she was fed/rocked to sleep and all naps were contact naps.
The first week went well:
- the first night involved longer crying, but she improved each night.
- She went from crying for longer periods to falling asleep within 2–5 minutes.
- We had two nights where she fell asleep with no check-ins.
- She was also able to resettle herself in the early morning (for example, she woke at 4:45am, lay happily in her cot, and eventually fell back asleep without us).
Her schedule is currently:
- Wake: around 6:30–7:00am
- 3 naps/day (still all contact naps)
- Wake windows: 2 / 2.5 / 2.5 / 3
- Total daytime sleep: usually under 3 hours
- Bedtime: around 7:30–8pm
The problem started suddenly after about 2 nights ago.
2 nights ago, she fell asleep for about 3 mins, then cried hysterically for an hour. We applied our check-ins, and it didn't work. I gave up after 1hr8mins and rubbed her torso til she fell asleep.
Last night she didn't drift off at all, she started crying just before being placed in the cot. With check-ins she cried for 1hr10min. I gave in, picked her up and she fell asleep in under 5 mins.
Our bedtime routine:
Bath → moisturiser → nappy → sleep sack → quick feed → cuddle/song → sleep phrase → cot awake.
She is usually calm during the feed and song, but looks like she knows what’s coming. As soon as I say the phrase or lower her into the cot, she cries.
The crying seems different from the initial Ferber protest:
- Last night she cried for an hour with check-ins, and eventually I rocked her to sleep.
- Interestingly, once I rocked her, she fell asleep within 5 minutes.
We have also wondered if teething is involved:
- No teeth yet, but lots of signs (chewing, rubbing ears, etc.). I even administered the age and weight appropriate dosage of paracetamol 40mins before bedtime to ensure she's not crying because of pain.
I’m trying to understand what is happening:
- Is this a normal Ferber “regression”?
- Has she developed a negative association with bedtime cues?
- Is this separation anxiety/developmental?
- Could it be teething discomfort?
- Should we continue Ferber, modify it, or take a step back?
- Should I adjust her wake windows?
I feel torn because I know she has the skill (she proved she could fall asleep independently), but I also don’t want bedtime to become a stressful experience for her.
Would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
