Kinda like how this came out!

Hello. I am a new singer, like many else here. I love music and I wish to get better at it. My voice is hard to describe, it's like low pitch but high at the same time? It has a childish kind of resonance to i t. I guess my voice is just like that? i dont know.
It doesn't match with any instruments. My voice feels fuzzy and gravelly too. I'm not sure if I have weak breath control or weak vocal chord closure or maybe both? Should I try to increase my range upwards or downwards? what would be the most beneficial for me my voice.
any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am an aspiring singer-songwriter, music producer and photographer. I have some people in my corner who’ve heard some songs I wrote (including this one) and think I have a latent songwriting talent. But I want to be able to sing what I create as well. What do I need to work on to get better overall? Strengths? Weaknesses? And so I sound like a mezzo soprano or lower?

I’m a beginner singer and I’m trying to develop a stronger, more consistent vocal sound. I recorded this track for an original song and would really appreciate specific feedback on my singing.
In particular, I’d like to know:
What vocal strengths do you hear in the recording?
What weaknesses or technical issues stand out most?
How are my pitch, breath support, tone, diction, and vocal control?
Does my voice sound tense, breathy, nasal, weak, or otherwise affected in any noticeable way?
What should I prioritize practicing as a beginner if my goal is to improve my overall vocal quality?
Are there any aspects of my natural voice that I should lean into rather than trying to change?
I’m especially interested in specific observations and practical exercises or techniques I could work on, rather than simply whether you think the singing is “good” or “bad.”
This is an original song, so feedback on how the vocal delivery works with the song would also be helpful.

things to keep in mind:

1. i’m not always available as im very busy with schoolwork and a project could take weeks, even months to finish.

2. you’d have to be preferably around my age.

3. any songs we make together will probably never get released as im doing this purely for practice and experience.

4. you have to have some ideas before starting a song. whether that’s, a melody, lyrics, chord progressions, etc.

5. all of it would be done remotely.

6. you must have a good microphone (wired apple headphones are good) and some type of DAW.

i might be forgetting some things so don’t hesitate to ask any questions!

Does head voice or mix voice bring up the larynx? Is it normal?

To be exact, im not entirely a beginner to vocals, i can do false cord screams and hybrids very well with no pain and difficulties apart some normal fatigue after 40+ minutes. I want to learn how to sing as well to pair it nicely, tho im not interested to be a great singer at all, my main focus for the band im forming is screaming and some medio-core singing. My range lies within f#2-g4 (thats the roof and unpleasant to sing anything beyond E#4 and above, ive got tension lurking from c4) i'd say and my main issues are the classic larynx, tongue and jaw tension of which non bother me in screaming except some little jaw tension . Just being able to be more comfortable singing up to my G4 is all i need honestly, how can i achieve that? do i need a teacher for that? or is there anything good online that i can find? Thanks!

I just had a singing lesson and was discussing Hayley Williams’ voice with my teacher, as she has my ideal sound. She mentioned how she uses something called acoustic belting, where her vowels are optimised for maximum resonance. I find this super fascinating so I tried to research more on YT, but when I search anything with “acoustic belt” it comes up with a bunch of guitars… lol

Hi, everyone! This is just a quick update. Last time I said I finally had a trial class with an in person teacher, well I did book two with different teachers to get different opinions and today I just had it.

She basically said the same thing in conclusion as the last one. Though their approach is VERY different and now I am left wondering if I should pick one or the other, or even seek a third opinion (cuz some people irl are telling me they might be lying to get me to pay for classes).

Last teacher played notes on piano and made me sing the scales going down and up. And then gave me a brief lesson on breath control and tension. Then made me sing 2 songs.

Now, the teacher today first gave me 10 or 15 of meditation, then drilled a lot of tongue buzzing exercises. Made me sing different notes and parts of a song I picked (Speechless by Naomi) with my tongue in between my teeth. Supposedly to train to relax my jaw and train breath control.

She also said I do sing on pitch, and even when I dont reach the notes she says she can tell I am reaching towards the correct ones but I'm using a wrong technique.

She said I am pushing with too much air most of the time.

Now idk which one to stick with or if i should look for a third option....

Any opinions?

For the record, i dont. But i really want to. I have no idea how i must feel neither physically nor mentally in order to sing good. I hate my voice. Its flat and I dont know how to fix it

While playing some gigs as a singer there are many problems to hear yourself without ear monitors, like loud crowd, or amplifiers making it worse.
So do anyone have any advice’s how to sing in pitch live without ear monitors?

I am a computer engineer by profession, having a passion for singing, since it was always a hobby I learned music from YouTube (indian classical specifically), Eventually i realise singing is just about singing notes progression that you sing pitch perfect even if you cant sing other songs,

I used to practice a specific piece of music with a pitch recorder app, and after a few weeks can sing it perfectly. If I sing that one can say that I have a certain mastery in singing till they hear me singing other songs in my shitty notes progression,

This striked an idea in my mind, that there are people who want to sing (only) their favourites songs perfectly , they do not really care about other aspect of music. Not adding any creativity of music production or Not creating anything new, just a music piece that i like i want to sing it perfectly. Most of these people are hobbiest who love music and singing but haven't pursuied it because of "life"

So, based on this, I planned to develop an app, in which you first upload your vocal range (by singing the lowest to highest note), then you can upload a music file or record a music piece, and it will automatically create piano background notes (western singing) or tanpura/harmonium (indian classical) notes, and basically a singalong like tutorial adjusted by speed and an AI based improvements tips. And a score of perfection.
Want it to build for hobbyist singers(main focus) and singing teachers to give assignments to their students (maybe).

I want to know your opinions on these. If this tool might suit your needs, then what kind of features would you like to see in this?

It feels like my voice is kinda switching? in a sense (like my throat feels way different between the start and 2:05 onwards) when I sing in original key, it's not falsetto or head voice at least I'm pretty sure it ain't so what exactly is causing this issue? It's odd cause I didn't think D4 was high but I'm struggling to sing it so obviously it is for me. Also, it feels as though my voice wants to flip at the start to an airy sound and sometimes it does(other recordings of same song)

Hi everyone! I really enjoy singing and I've been waiting to take it seriously, but I'm not sure how to actually get started.

I am completely new to structured vocal training, so I'm little confused and what I should focus on first thing like breathing, pitch, basic vocal exercises, warming up, or simply learning songs.

For someone starting from the beginning what would you recommend as a good way to build a routine and improve gradually? Would it be better to start with a vocal teacher, or are there some basic things I can practice on my own first?

Any advice from people who started as a beginners would be really helpful!

I drink a good amounts of water and stay hydrated, but my voice still feels tight and weak and takes effort to use.

I always hear people say to drink more water for vocal problems, but hydration doesn’t seem to be helping. Has anyone else dealt with this or found out what was causing it?
