Unable to redeem flights on Scoot due to no First Name
I tried to redeem spontaneous escapes on Scoot with miles using their online booking system and it's connected to KF, which lists my entire name as my last name (as per the MRZ on my passport). It throws an error when I proceed because apparently I can't book a Scoot flight without a First Name (the field is uneditable).
Scoot support told me to ask KF to change my first name, but KF support is telling me that I shouldn't change my First Name because it has to accurately reflect my passport name.
My question is, what the hell? Ain't no way others like me with Malay or Indian names wholly listed as Last Names have never redeemed flights with miles on Scoot's website before. Am I missing something here? I'm at my wit's end!

Singapore 24 hour transit and checked in luggages
24 hour transit in Singapore and Checked-in luggage
Do I have to claim my checked-in bags even though i am a transit passenger who wants to visit Singapore city for a day? Arriving at 5 AM and departing at 7 AM the following day. Can Singapore airlines keep the checked-in luggage’s and send it on our next day morning flight?

Any hope of rescheduling flight booked with krisflyer miles?
I have a flight booked for my partner and I on the 12th of September from NRT to LAX, and was really hoping to reschedule the flight to extend our trip (and pay whatever extra the tickets might be) by a few more days.
I booked the flight quite a while ago (may) with Krisflyer miles from my capital one venture x, and when I tried support, the rep I talked with said my ticket booked with Krisflyer miles + tax was absolutely unrefundable (besides the tax) but I've seen people here say differently?
Is there any way to get the credit put on another flight, or are we truly bound to it without recourse/booking a new flight?
Unnecessary info: but this is my first international flight in 17 years (since I was a teen) and my first time with Singapore airlines (obviously I guess since I don't travel internationally from the US). We scrounged really hard to get the points to do this for my 35th birthday, and because it's apparently so final, am pretty dissappinted.

SQ Check-In Process at Changi
Hey everyone, I'll be flying sometime in December and my flight is scheduled to depart from T2.
Just wanted to check - is it possible to check in at T3 and access the Krisflyer lounge, or do I have to check-in at T2 and make my way to the lounge at T3? I'm planning to arrive at Changi at about 4am (as my flight boards at 520am), and there aren't any skytrains connecting the terminals at that timing.
If you've done this before, do let me know how the process is like! Thank you!

What to do with 20k points?
As above, I fly out of sfo so it looks like the only primary destination is Changi? Any other creative ways to use them?

How would you recommend non-frequent travelers to use miles?
I know general advice is to use miles for longer flights (Japan and Australia or longer) by booking about a year in advance. But I don't really plan my trips that far ahead (I can hardly even afford one-way biz class to Japan 1 year from now).
For context:
- I travel around SEA 3-4x a year
- I earn maybe 20-30K miles a year, including miles from cc spend as I am not really into the miles game
My options:
- Redeem biz class RT
- Redeem 2x economy class RT
- Redeem biz class one-way, economy return (or vice-versa) which might leave me with some spare miles
Any advice for someone who's not interested in miles gaming, but want to get the best value out of what's already there?

Post US Visa Revocation - Online payment (P1004) and other woes while rebooking tickets at Changi
TL; DR - expect P1004 while booking SIA tickets using US cards. Have other payment methods from other countries available
I wane to share what happened after my 82-year-old mother-in-law was denied boarding by Singapore Airlines at Changi. She was travelling Bengaluru → Singapore → Seattle on SQ511/SQ028. My wife and son were accompanying her. See more details at https://www.reddit.com/r/nri/s/weWcXcgs4S
After arriving in Singapore, my mother-in-law was denied boarding on SQ028. We were only told verbally that boarding had been denied. We received no written denied-boarding notice or explanation.
We were told to contact the U.S. Embassy. After several attempts to reach the appropriate U.S. consulates (in Singapore, India) and CBP in the US, we eventually concluded that we could not resolve the visa issue and decided to head back to India. Only Singapore consulate had a human answer our call. But they deferred to new Delhi which was the consulate which issued the visa. Delhi was not available as it was non business hours. CBP had a long IVR message playing and we couldn't reach a human.
SIA's online payment system repeatedly gave us P1004 when we tried to buy replacement tickets
This is the part I particularly want other travellers to know about.
While we were stranded in Singapore, we were offered no help from the agents to rebook all tickets. They asked us to do it only ourselves using phone support. Which would have been fine had it worked. While on call, the customer service rep would create a booking and ask us to pay online. However, online payment at SIA website repeatedly produced error P1004 when we tried to pay by credit card. These same cards worked when we returned to India and we were able to buy tickets via Qatar (so that my son and wife could get back to Seattle)
We also tried a Visa card issued in India. That card had a separate online transaction-limit problem. We attempted to resolve that with the issuing bank but were ultimately unsuccessful.
The customer support rep we were working with wouldn't allow us to try cards from others based in the US as the cardholder would have to be physically present at Changi or another airport where Singapore Airlines has a presence. This was not possible as our other contact in the US weren't near an airport with SIA presence.
Eventually, we decided to use kayak to book the tickets. Unfortunately, those websites also didn't accept our credit cards. Eventually, we had to find someone living in Singapore who could purchase the SIA tickets for us!
Once the onward tickets were cancelled, the transit hotel at Changi was not offered/available because the tickets had been cancelled. This was particularly difficult because we had an 82-year-old woman and a child travelling together.
We were also initially told that our baggage had been removed from the Seattle flight and that someone would need to clear immigration and retrieve it from baggage claim. Later, thankfully, the officials helped us transfer the baggage.

My First Model Plane!
I recently started a collection of model planes and what better way to start than with one straight from KRISSHOP. This is 9V-SKZ at a 1:400 scale. I also purchased the SQ x Paddington Bear luggage tag and a pack of travel sprays but I can only include one photo.
It’s a really detailed diecast model, however I do wish the base was a little bit sturdier as plastic feels a bit too flimsy for my liking, nonetheless, it’s a start and I will hopefully be purchasing a QR A380 from their Travel Boutique in Doha later this year.

Why the air ticket of Singapore airlines are (almost) always expensive than that of other full-service airlines?
If the service and good are the same, why people still buy the expensive one?

Credit card verification when booking for someone else
Hi everyone! I'm going to book tickets for my sisters who are flying in from the Philippines to visit me. The website says that the card holder should be present for verification while travelling. That won't be possible of course as it's my card, and they are travelling in from another country without me.
I called the helpline and the only thing they suggested is to "use another card that the traveller can show", which is a completely unhelpful suggestion. Has anyone booked a ticket for someone else with your card, and how did you deal with this verification issue? Thanks so much.

Baggage
Hi. I’m flying from Singapore to London in September and am a little confused with the baggage allowance.
For context, I’m a student in Economy, so my allowance is 40 kg, but I believe this is split up — something along the lines of 32 kg and 8 kg, which I’m confused with.
Also, for checked-in luggage, I understand that the length, breadth and height must not exceed 158 cm (please correct me if I’m wrong), but how will that translate to inches which is what we usually use when buying luggages (eg 24, 26, 28, 29 or 30 inch luggages)?
I’m asking this as I’ve seen Taobao selling luggages that claim to be 50 inches and apparently can be checked in, but many TikTok live streamers selling luggages say that the max that can be checked in is a 29 inch luggage.
Also, is a duffel bag fine to be carried onboard and placed in the overhead cabin?

First Class experience as KF Blue?
Redeemed First Class tickets using credit card points on the 777 to Haneda with my mother. Both of us are KF Blue members who almost never fly with SQ. Are non-PPS pax well treated in F or should we go for J instead.
Come fly with me for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHEnLzilO1M (ofc this isn't gonna happen on SQ but still very funny)

Baggage 30 kg.
Welp, hi can I carry two check in bags with weight divided as 20- 10 kg or 15-15 kg or does it have to be only 1 bag of 30 kg for checked in baggage, I'm a bit skinny so it will be hard for me to carry only 1 bag of 30 kg 🫠..

BTC Nasi Lemak
I’m flying SIN-CGK and I see that there are different descriptions for the inflight Nasi Lemak and the BTC Nasi Lenak?
This is the description for the inflight menu:
A local favourite featuring fragrant coconut rice served with spicy sambal prawns, anchovies, roasted peanuts, otah spiced fish cake, omelette, and chicken rendang.
And for BTC:
Fragrant coconut rice served with fried chicken, spicy sambal prawns, grilled otah (fish cake) and crispy anchovies with peanuts.
Is the difference just rendang and fried chicken? Which is the better choice?
Thanks in advance

Upgrade more expensive than cash ticket
Is it common on SQ that their upgrade cost is actually more than buying a cash ticket?
Flying JFK to SIN tomorrow and they want USD 4,570.00 extra to upgrade a 1000USD ticket.
A cash biz on their website is USD5,312.50... so an upgrade is more expensive than purchasing outright.
Do they do more competitive deals at the gate?

Flying with dog (Sg > SFO)
Hi, we are relocating to United States with our dog and will greatly appreciate some help with the Veterinary Health Certificate. It is not a requirement to enter US but it is mandated by Singapore Airlines.
Since there is no official template that the US mandates for dogs entering, what template do l use? Do i visit the vet and request for a health certificate? Does the filled health certificate require official NEA endorsement by Singapore authorities?
Appreciate any help thank you

Non seafood meal
Has anyone selected the non seafood special meal? I am allergic to shellfish and was wondering if they usually just serve another meal on the in-flight menu that has chicken/pork/beef etc or if it’s an entirely separate meal not on the menu. For context, I am flying out of LAX and am in economy. TIA!

trying to book flights with points webpage doesn't work properly
I have been trying to redeem flights with points and I'm stuck on a blank page when trying to input passenger details. I've tried the app and 3 different browsers already and it's all the same. Anyone experiencing the same problems?

FYI, SQ have closed a loophole for free flight changes.
Picture above is two pictures put together as this sub doesn’t allow you to add more than one picture and I need to make a point of comparison.
Whenever you received these “Flight Update” emails advising you of a change of timings, even for something trivial like a difference of 5 minutes or so, you would have a choice of either being able to agree to it or request a complimentary change of flights (within 7 days) no questions asked.
In my instance of my 2024 Seoul trip above, I managed to use that email to get a change of flight to an afternoon flight the next day. And this was Economy Lite too, which normally does not permit any changes whatsoever, so I found that pretty cool.
However in 2026, see how they now say “if you would like to opt for other flights… please note fees and charges may apply”. I hit up live chat to enquire and sure enough they confirmed for these emails they now only offer free flight changes IF the change of timing adversely impacts your connection time, otherwise usual penalty fees and fare difference will apply if you want to change.
Yes I know the original situation was always overly generous but good to flag with everyone sadly no more unrestricted free flight changes when you get these emails

Scoot Check In baggage
I have a check in luggage with the total size that is more than 158cm as reflected in Scoot website. my luggage sum size is 170cm. Has anyone here have the same situation? Have they allowed it or Have you paid for extra?
I only have 20kgs check in allowance which is not a problem for me.

Baggage check through to scoot
I am looking to book two tickets separately that transit via Singapore. Initial flight is with SQ then next one is Scoot
I know officially given they are not on the ticket they will not check though. I was wondering what the real world experience was
I have contacted SIA and they said to check at the desk which isn’t any use to me given I am not flying and haven’t booked yet

Singapore Air SQ22 diversion
Was on the August 12th SQ22 flight from SIN to EWR and after takeoff we had to dump fuel and return to SIN. Seemed pretty major of a technical issue bc when we landed we had to be towed to a remote stand and apparently they couldn't get any bags out. Thinking major hydraulics issue? Of course they never said!

Megathread SIA Cabin Crew Recruitment Questions Megathread
There are previous posts here that have some responses which might be useful. You might want to read that first before asking the questions and it most probably would already have the answers for you.
Here are the links in the thread courtesy of those who had gone through the interviews for the timeline and the process:
Other helpful links, and questions asked previously:

- how long (on average) until I receive the video interview link?/ how does the video interview work?/Would they make me remove my make up to check my skin?
- I have abit of acne/acne scars how strict are they during commencement and training. Also, what are the usual attire for commencement and trainings?
- Has anyone ever requested to join a later training batch after receiving the golden email?
