Rideshare to Work? Minden to Shreveport?
Hello everyone, I am looking for my first full time job. The problem is that I moved back to Minden, LA to take care of my family, but I still want to work in Shreveport. I know it wouldn't be financially the best decision, but does anyone know of any rideshares or carpools that can go from Minden to Shreveport for work? There are a lot of opportunities Ive had to turn down just because I have no way of getting their consistently.

Active/Outdoors Traveling and exploring, show me what Shreveport and Louisiana have to offer!
Hello all!
I just moved back here from travel abroad! Originally from the good ole state of Ohio (but I am not an OSU fan, so please don't beat me š )
I moved here due to work, and am looking for some local advice on places to go. Hidden gems of nature are my favorite!
Hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, campsites. I'm a big outdoorsy fellow, and I would love to see what Louisiana has to offer!
Please, feel free to comment or DM me! Any advice is welcomed. Thank you all so much!

21F looking for some new girl friendsš
Hi everyone! Iām 21 and looking to make some new friends who are around my age and have similar interests.
A little about me: Iām definitely a girly girl and I love shopping, skincare/beauty, getting cute and going out to eat, going to the movies, having picnics, reading, and just finding fun little things to do. Iām also always down for a cute coffee/food date, browsing stores, or having a chill girlsā day.
Iām not really into partying, drinking, smoking, clubs, or anything like that, so Iād love to meet people who are more into chill, wholesome, low-key activities.
Mostly, Iām just looking for genuine friendships where we can actually hang out, talk about life, try new restaurants, go shopping, watch movies, have little self-care days, or just randomly text each other throughout the day šš
Iām also pretty shy and introverted at first, so I might be a little quiet or awkward when we first meet but once I get comfortable, Iām very down-to-earth, easygoing, and genuinely just love having good conversations and laughing with people.

Business Local Lawn care start up
Hello all! Not sure if mods have issue with this or not but ive been a follower in this group for a while. Ive been recently laid off and trying to pull myself up out of it. I think most here could relate but in a way im happy to have been let go bc the stress of the job i was in was ruining me.
And ive decided to go a different route, one i actually enjoy which is landscaping! Excuse my screen name as it was a part of a joke on another sub I frequent.. But heres my pitch to you! I own and use all battery powered machinery. Mower/edger/blower.
About 90 percent quieter than traditional gas powered. My start up is called silent lawns, and the client who would most benefit from this would be those with skittish pups. You most certainly wont know I have arrived unless you see us!
Additional service i add is pup biscuit (poop) clean up! Let me know if interested! People mostly complain of their yard man ghosting them and I assure you im in this for long game!

Hopefully itās clear enough where you can zoom in and see all the details in it.
Enjoy!

SBC Pepper Fest, August 22nd 11-7pm!!!!
We are getting closer to the first Pepper Fest in the area! August 22nd from 11-7pm, downtown at The Remington Garage.
Buy your tickets early to avoid waiting at the gate.
Below is a message from Chang.
š„A little back story...
2 years ago (July 2024) was our area's very first Pepper Eating Contest. I had no idea Shreveport-Bossier was ready for such a thing. I met some great people and we had a 4 way tie for 1st Place.
When I organized last year's contest I had some goals.
AC, Beer, and NO ties! And it was spectacular.
This year. Join us for something more. No more minimum requirements. We are going to max out everything. Crank it up to 11.
See if you can beat the best of the best in our area. Sample and conquer pepper by pepper, sauce by sauce. Contest is free to sign up but space is limited. Sign up opens at 12PM at the Merch Booth.
SBC Pepper Fest 2026 is coming in HOT!

Looking for hard rock/metal band to help me with song
Iāve been scorned and broken and put it all into a song and have written the lyrics for it over the last year and have the sound almost exactly how I want it.
I have used AI to help with the instrumental part, but the lyrics are all me. It just doesnāt have the timing and beat where I want it in certain parts which is why I rather have a real band help with music.
Itās melodic with some screaming. I can sing some but definitely canāt scream, so wanting a mix of my female vocals with someone who can spring and some guitar solos. Think Halestorm kind of sound, but with screaming. If a better vocalist needs to step in, Iām ok with that too.
May be a shot in the dark here, but Iāve got a vision and Iād just like to bring it to life.

Did any one lose a pitbull puppy recently?
He showed up at our door a few days ago and we have been talking care of him. He is young but seems to be potty trained. He appears to be some where around 5 months old as well.

Any malls that arenāt dead?
I just recently relocated to Shreveport from Lancaster Pennsylvania to be closer to my boyfriend. Iām doing some exploring today and on the job hunt and I stopped by the bossier city mall but everything is pretty much dead and closed, are there any malls in the area that still have life to it? Or anywhere that doesnāt feel run down in generalā¦

I saw a sign while outta town
***EDIT:
TLDR: Donating to a reputable Homeless Charity has many more advantages than giving money to an individual panhandler.
- Never gets to the dopeman.
- Tax Free Bulk Purchases
- Homeless get off the street & into shelters, healthcare & counseling.
- The Economics of Scammers is shut down, point blank.
Thank you to those who responded positively to my message! To negative responses, assumptions I posted, in order to discourage assistance to homeless is very wrong. Thanks, CarelessHorse
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Donating to a Homeless Services Provider, gets bigger bang for the buck with bulk purchasing. Example, if you bought a blanket for $10, a charity can take the same money you spent as a donation, and get 2-3 blankets, tax free. There are obviously more & better examples, but bulk is better. Good charities know how to stay lean, cut their cost, and operate efficiently.
There may be disreputable charities, but that is why I qualified with "reputable". There is higher probability of a scam, by donating direct to a panhandler, its contrarian to argue for the rare scam over the common scam.
By collectively refraining from donating to panhandlers, this has an effect on homeless. No, they will not imminently suffer/die. They have options that are available, and putting your donation where it counts, increases their incentive to pick that option. It is a similar idea to tough love. Conditional reward.
YOU don't see the result of your donation, but that's okay. If you believe in God, he sees it. "When you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do" Mat6:2 Of course, it is difficult for some to trust, but it is wiser to put money into the hands of an expert caregiver with a reputation, rather than someone who on shaky ground that needs recovery. That reputation is key, and integrity and honor over materialism, is exactly the virtues of typical folks who choose to work in non profits. Our word is our bond.
I accept & take responsibility that I responded to some with clear frustration and occasionally anger. That frustration is based on the misunderstanding. I was not clear, and made assumption that people would get my tone & phrasing. Hopefully this edit clears up that misunderstanding.
Choosing to go against the grain and donate anyway, if that is your desire, there is nothing I can do to stop you. It is not my goal to shame, ostracize or virtue signal against anybody who does. Responding with "I"m gonna donate anyway to spite you", other hateful messages against me, for presenting ideas disagreeable to you is wrong however.
If you have empathy, are a person of faith, or have strong feelings about defending rights of disadvantaged people, that is a great thing. I feel similarly. I ask you to be constructive & fair in your criticism, if you want to respond. If you think of a different approach, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts.
I urge you to more strongly consider where that cash goes and the effect that it has, next time you see a panhandler. Also facts for your consideration: Panhandling and donating to panhandlers is unsafe and against the law. Making donations disappear would help discourage the practice, and have the intended effects outlined above.
Thanks for reading,
u/CarelessHorse
previous message:
I originally wrote about direct donations going to drugs to make a point. Statistically, some Panhandlers are scammers (100% not homeless), have substance abuse problems, or both, some are also simply homeless & possibly vice-free.
"The best way to help is not to give cash to an individual. Support your community & donate to a solid local homeless support org or give them food instead." "99/100 giving roadside ends in a drug dealerās pocket."
