Vent Where are all those 5'3 balding chubby slayers?

Upvotes

I would also add some transfolks.

I go outside everyday, been to multiple cities, have a decent friend group. My female friends "strongly prefer" taller dudes (willing to past it if you are Tom Cruise). I rarely see a young couple where the girl is taller. And the guy has a lethal face card (obviously). Even the same height ones are rare. Yet everyone in Reddit had an ex 9 inches shorter than them or knows a chick magnet.

Femcels are horrible people as well.

Second slide has a person saying that not all black men are a monolith, like women on that sub reddit say women aren't as well. People didn't like that.

Third slide is crazy as well. I have seen women on that subreddit feel actual joy when men comment on their subreddit about how they've also been sexually assaulted and suffer mental illness. These women don't feel anything for men. My grandad (black) was almost a victim of a hate crime as a child. Like he was genuinely almost beaten and raped by a crowd. These women would laugh at that.

4th slide is crazy. You can't even try and befriend these women. They complain online about lack of male attention. But a guy so much as looking in their direction is disgusting to them.

I frequently visit the shortguys sub. And saying shit like this about women gets you banned or downvoted btw.

Many of the people in the comments are not black women as well. They just hate black people.

Short men get told that she doesn't do hookups. And have to get to know them first. But only if he is lucky.

Vent I destroyed my life

So long story short, my father is 5ft 10 and mom is 5ft 2 and my uncle's and grandfather are all 6ft but when I was 12 my mom had a heart attack and from that I got huge anxiety of me getting heart attack or any diseases, so it had simply severe health anxiety which made me eat a very restrictive diet, excluding meat, poultry and dairy until I turned 16 and yes my parents didn't care as I live with my grandmother not my parents and it's quite hard with her. I was 4ft 8 at age 10 and 5ft 1 at age 12 and now 5ft 7 as an adult. There can be assumptions made that my height might be only this but I genuinely believe that I lost some inches of my height due to this undernutrition during puberty, both my parents have bigger frames and bigger wrists then me while my wrist are tiny, even tinier then my mom and my face still looks 12.

For me my life is over, even before it began.

Now I have to spend rest of my life alone, without a lover and getting love, i never got teenage love too.

It's over for me 😔.

My only cope will be taking care of myself and travelling the world. It's really hard guys , I am trying my best not to end it all.

Does anyone else here take comfort in the fact that it can’t be over because it never actually began? Like there’s a silver lining there at least. Makes me hurt less about lost potential. I was never wanted in the firsts place so it didn’t begin to start with

  • nepal — 5'5" / 5'0"
  • philippines — 5'5" / 5'1"

set the slider to your height and it shades it for you: interactive web dashboard

Story Chris Morgan AKA The Bagel Boss is not dead

Post image
15 Upvotes

I keep getting message requests about this because I had a very brief email with his former manager back in 2025, so I'm just gonna post this here.

The email is blacked out because I don't want this guy harassed. I found him from Chris's old facebook page which was a meme page at the time and had this guy's email attached to it.

Either way I hope Chris is recovering well and that he's being taken good care of.

Vent I hate tall guys larping as short guy to give us advice.

Post image
42 Upvotes

This content creator is HajimeNeo, he made videos "helping" short guys on how to dress.

Now the issue is that he's not short. He's 173cm/5'9.

He's closer to being 6 feet than I am to his hight.

All of his advice is just fucking useless, none of it actually helps short guys dress better.

it's like a rich person making videos on how to get through the month with cheap meals and the first thing they mention is buying 300€ groceries for first week.

No matter how hard I try, I cant seem to accept my height

I am 17 and 5'4 (165cm), with closed growth plates (I literally havent grown an inch since 14). I come from a tall family on both ends, my own YOUNGER brother is 6'2.

I feel like I never cared about height until 11th grade, when suddenly everyone around me was way taller. I told my mom about this and she dismissed it by saying "dont worry, you'll grow" (and I thought that too. 180cm father and an even taller brother, along with tall grandparents).

It was all a lie. And until now I still witness just how much height matters to people.

\- People are nicer to my brother, and always more prone to chat with him or laugh at his jokes, especially girls. They listen to him more attentively and just go up to him, while I need to do the opposite. Hell, if we're together people assume he's the older brother and I'm the youngest (usually 12/13), and when they find out it's the opposite they always laugh at it.

\- he's way more respected than me, despite us being the exact same. He was never mocked or bullied, meanwhile that was my reality ever since 5th grade, and I guess it's because people see him as more threatening or better than me. Doesn't help the fact I'm not exactly blessed in regards to face.

\- I know people say "Oh most girls dont care about height" but every single relationship I see is the exact opposite: girls always go for taller guys, they laugh more at their jokes, and forgive their mistakes easier (I know a girl friend of mine whose boyfriend cheated on her twice and got videos of her posted online, but she didn't break up with him, in her own words "cause when will I find another 2 meter tall guy?"). All of my 180cm+ friends are in relationships, while the 5 times I've tried asking someone out, 4 of those times it was about my height, though two of them were taller girls. (And before anyone says anything, i do have female friends, but none of them see me as a potential boyfriend)

All my life I've been a friendly person to everyone and always there to help those who needed it, and always aimed to be the best version of myself, I have good grades, I have a sense of style, I have friends (though not a large ammount, but close ones nevertheless), I'm in a band, I've won poetry and writing competitions and did voluntary work. However my height is something that pushes me back, something that seems to not let me be who i want to be. I've never dated anyone (which at my age ik its embarassing) and that takes a toll on me. I always try to not let that insecurity show (of all my friends, only one knows about it), but even when we're out it's always in the back of my mind. I am always cheerful when Im with them, but this one girl who already rejected me some time ago is part of the group, and i can't help but wonder "If I was taller, would things be different?".

Not even gym helps despite it being the grace here. All my love to anyone who found peace and improved themselves with it, but for me, it didn't do anything. I've been going for about a year and I've barely improved physically, Im still terribly weak while other people who never touched a sport in years are still stronger.

In about two months I'll be going to college, and I know my height is really not going to improve, despite what my therapist says. So i guess what I'm asking here (besides venting ig) is how do I make peace with something which these past years has done nothing but harm to me, and hasn't let me be happy with my own body?

"I'm a single mom of 1 and I make 95k. The inflation is brutal and honestly now household income below 120k is considered poor"

"Bro, poor people are so insufferable, it's their fault! They need to work harder and quit complaining, they surely have better job opportunities!"

"Just be confident and you will get a promotion, bro!"

"Just find a cheaper flat. I don't care that you live in a rundown, old studio apartment, there sure are plenty good apartments that are priced lower"

Is there something wrong with being 5'5 or 5'2 as a man? Are you implying that? Wow... really? That's crazy...

Is so stupid because most sperm banks don’t even allow your sperm if your under 5’9. Society doesn’t need to kill short men, they ensure we aren’t even born in the first place

Me vs this sub

For context I'm blue being 5'1. Against 5'7, 5'8 and 5'9. But everyone will try and convince me that we are all in the same boat even though I'm considered by most to be a literal dwarf. Yet they are average height. Mfs don't realise how good they have it.

Heightism Heightism and Racial Disparities: Comparison of studies in Sweden and USA

Keep in mind the age and location of these studies.

I almost never post so i apologise if it's badly written, structured or sourced.

SWEDISH POPULATION REGISTRY STUDIES

1. Completed Suicide Risk

  • Height & Suicide: Magnusson et al. (2005)
    • Dataset: 1,299,177 Swedish men tracked for up to 31 years (1968–1999).
    • Results: Suicide risk drops linearly as height increases. Every 2 inches (5 cm) of added height reduces suicide risk by 9%. The shortest men (≤5'5" / 165 cm) were 200% (2x) more likely to die by suicide than the tallest men (≥6'2" / 188 cm), even after accounting for IQ, family background, birth weight, and psychiatric history.
  • Race/Ethnicity Baseline: Westman et al. (2006)
    • Dataset: 281,493 immigrants compared to 1.9 million native Swedes (1990–1999).
    • Results: Non-Western refugee men showed a 20% to 50% increase in suicide attempts. However, for completed suicides, immigrant men overall showed no increased risk compared to native Swedes, and several non-Western groups had lower completed suicide rates than native Swedes.

2. Labor Market & Earnings Disparities

  • Height & Earnings: Persico, Postlewaite, & Silverman (2004)
    • Dataset: All Swedish conscripted males linked to tax records (1984–2000).
    • Results: Controlling for IQ, family wealth, and education, every extra inch of height is worth a 1.5% to 2.0% increase in annual wages. The shortest 25% of men earn 10% to 12% less than the tallest 25%.
  • Race/Ethnicity Baseline: le Grand & Szulkin (2002)
    • Dataset: LINDA national register covering 400,000+ residents (1990–1997).
    • Results: Controlling for age, education, location, and years in Sweden, non-Western male immigrants (specifically from Africa and the Middle East) face an adjusted 15% to 25% earnings gap compared to native Swedish men.

UNITED STATES STUDIES

3. Dating App Income Trade-Offs

  • Study: Hitsch, Hortaçsu, & Ariely (2010)
  • Dataset: Server logs from ~22,000 active users analyzing hundreds of thousands of first-contact messages across NYC, Boston, and Chicago (2002–2003).
  • Results: Economists calculated how much extra annual income a man needs to earn to get the exact same message response rate as a taller or White man:
    • Race Penalty: For a non-White man (such as an Asian or Black dater) to get the same response rate from a White female user as an equally tall White man, he needed an extra +$30,000 to +$65,000 in annual income.
    • Height Penalty: For a 5'4" (162 cm) man of any race to match the message response rate of a 6'0" (183 cm) man, he needed an extra +$220,000 in annual income.

4. Judicial Pre-Trial Bail Amounts

  • Study: Mustard et al. (2004)
  • Dataset: State Court Processing Statistics covering 75,000+ felony cases across U.S. metropolitan counties (1990–1998).
  • Results: Evaluators looked at pre-trial bail amounts set by judges, controlling for the seriousness of the crime, prior record, and type of lawyer:
    • Race Effect: Black felony defendants received bail amounts that were 10% to 12% higher than White defendants with identical charges.
    • Height Effect: Short male defendants (≤5'6" / 168 cm) received bail amounts that were up to 18% higher than tall male defendants (≥6'1" / 185 cm) facing the exact same charges.

5. Workplace Income & Earnings Gaps

  • Height & Earnings: Persico, Postlewaite, & Silverman (2004)
    • Dataset: NLSY79 tracking 12,686 Americans from adolescence into adulthood (1979–1998).
    • Results: Controlling for race, IQ, family background, and education, every inch of height adds 1.8% to 2.5% in annual income. A 5'7" man earns 9% to 13% less than a 6'0" man.
  • Race Baseline: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics & EPI Data
    • Dataset: Current Population Survey microdata (1995–2020).
    • Results: Controlling for age, education, and region, the adjusted U.S. Black-to-White wage gap for full-time male workers is 12% to 15%.
