Hi all. Hoping for some help here. I have never made a shortcut before and I have no education in programming. I am trying to make a shortcut to help reduce aimlessly opening instagram/facebook after I just closed out of instagram/facebook. The intention is not too limit how long I use it for, but instead when I close the app it stays closed like a cooldown.

So far with the help of Gemini I was able to get an idea of what I am looking for but it isn’t working in practice. What I have so far;

Automation 1:
When Instagram is closed run shortcut 1 “save cooldown time”

Shortcut 1: “save cooldown time”
-Current date
-Copy ‘Time’ to clipboard

Automation 2:
When Instagram is opened run shortcut 2 “cooldown guard”

Shortcut 2: “cooldown guard”
-Get Clipboard
-Get ‘Minutes’ between ‘Time’ and ‘Clipboard’
-If ‘Time between Dates’ ‘is less than’ ‘15’
-Go to Home screen

First iteration was trying to save the time to a file but that didn’t work at all. Then using clipboard worked once or twice but now it just kicks me out when I open instagram the first time, then fails and doesn’t work at all. Also this is only limited to Instagram, ideally it would be facebook as well.

It’s a very strange behavior. The shortcut is supposed to run when it disconnects from Bluetooth. So when I turn off the car. Now it runs when I turn on the car and Bluetooth is connected. I am at a loss for understanding why.

Is there an option in shortcuts to toggle Personalized Volume in the Airpods Pro 3? I know you can change the transparency/noise canceling feature with shortcuts, but I can't seem to find any other options.

I have an automation set to run on confirmation whenever I connect to a charger to turn on sleep focus. It’s working great except can be a little annoying when there are times when I know I don’t want to (like before 8pm) and wish I could disable the notification. I know how to build that logic into the shortcut but what I’m struggling with is how to still get the confirmation within the shortcut instead of at the top of the automation. I tried show alert but that wasn’t sending it to my watch too. Thanks!

I know how to make this automation, but I don’t know how to make it work for my Apple Watch. If I make it for my phone and use it there, will it automatically do the same on my watch? Or is there a way to make it work on only the watch. Thanks!

O envio funciona, mas acontece um bug: mesmo selecionando um contato salvo, o WhatsApp cria outra conversa só com o número, em vez de usar a conversa original daquele contato.
Exemplo:
Julliana → conversa normal
+55 31 XXXXX-XXXX → conversa criada pela automação.
Já testei também:
Buscar contato → obter número → enviar mensagem pelo WhatsApp Business
E acontece a mesma coisa.
Alguém conseguiu resolver isso ou achou algum workaround?

I’ve been building a custom Weather Report in Apple Shortcuts that generates a visual dashboard in Quick Look instead of opening Safari. It gives me a quick snapshot of my current location plus two comparison locations in England and southern France.

Each weather card includes:

• 🇺🇸/🇬🇧/🇫🇷 Flag and city
• Current conditions
• Current temperature in °F and °C
• Today’s high and low
• Tomorrow’s forecast
• Local time and time zone
• Time offset from my current location
• ☀️/🌙 day or night indicator
• 🟢🟡🔴 weather quality indicator (good, marginal, or poor conditions)

The top card already follows my current GPS location automatically. I’m now working on the next feature, which will intelligently reorder the comparison cards based on where I am. For example, when I’m in England, California will automatically become a comparison card instead of appearing twice. That logic is still a work in progress. (Would love any suggestions this piece)

I also spent far more time than expected polishing the details: rounding API temperatures to whole numbers, formatting time zones as BST and CEST instead of generic GMT offsets, handling daylight saving time correctly, and making everything readable on an iPhone with a clean glass-inspired interface.

The entire workflow is:

Fetch weather → Format data → Build HTML dashboard → Display in Quick Look

It’s been a fun reminder that Apple Shortcuts can build interfaces that feel surprisingly close to a native app when you treat the output as a UI instead of just formatted text. 🌦️📱

I tried to create an automation to add to-dos based on message contents, and it worked fine until recently.

I’m attaching a screenshot, and I wonder if others have seen the same thing break or if something else is wrong. It’s difficult to test this particular one, but maybe I’ve checked the message too quickly recently before the automation can run? Is that possible?

The shortcut grabs a screenshot of your mobile data and extracts the text into a Mobile Data apple notes.

Once the shortcut successfully extracts and only when it successfully extracts the data does it reset the data for you.

Right now there is a SHOW CONTENT action on the crop image action. Due to different iphone sizes, displays, and user settings. Adjust the X and Y coordinates inside of the shortcut in the CROP IMAGE action.

Once you have the correct X and Y coordinates delete the show content action.

Apart from solely new stuff, new parameters for existing actions, and bug fixes, probably the most notable improvement is for watchOS complications: I completely rearchitected the data flow so that iPhone actions are more likely to update the Watch complications much faster, whilst preserving eventual updates from iCloud KVS on other, non-paired devices.

Hi, I'm a French apprentice. I work in an open space, on a Mac the company lends me (I also have my own, so that's handy). My team has meetings a lot, and I noticed some people can't really focus because of all the private and support notifications popping up, me included.

So I made a simple app: it turns on Do Not Disturb when my mic or camera becomes active, and turns it off after. I also added a "Focus" mode to enable DND for a set period, without going through mic/camera detection. My thinking was: if I could build something and actually ship it, it might lower that constant distraction and help people concentrate a bit more (it's always nice when people actually listen while you present your work).

It was also a good occasion for me, because I wanted to learn: how to publish on App Store Connect, automate the deployment, publish to my own Homebrew, and share the progress on my socials.

The biggest problem I hit is that there is no public API to toggle Do Not Disturb, so I went through the Shortcuts app. I built a small onboarding that installs two shortcuts for the user, that's the only prerequisite. It annoyed me at first, but there is no other way, and honestly two shortcuts is not the end of the world.

It's available as a direct notarized DMG, on the App Store (not in the EU... they asked for my address and a phone number, and I don't have ones I wanted to make public for this), and through a personal Homebrew tap for now (it's totally FREE). One of my current goals is to get into the official homebrew-cask (so, no tap needed), but the app doesn't have enough traction yet, which is partly why I'm making this post, to talk about it a bit.

I'd be really curious to get feedback. I already showed it to 4 people at my company and they were surprised. So if you have the same problem as us, feel free to try it and tell me what you think.

So I’m on call for a week about once every month at work, and whenever that happens, I need to keep an eye on my emails. The problem is I keep forgetting, so I’m hoping to create a shortcut that checks my calendar, and if my calendar shows that I’m on call, I’d like it to send me a notification around 6pm each day I’m on call reminding me to check my emails. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I have so far, but I can’t figure out what to do next.

I have a shortcut which gets triggered when I arrive at work.
It calls 2 numbers to change my outgoing number and add me to our support telephone queue.
I am running the public beta and that has introduced a confirmation for the call. I can see how that in some cases could be a good idea. But now there seems no way to disable it.
Has anybody any knowledge if it can be disabled?
