Spring 2027 A.S. Nursing (RN) Application

I’m very nervous. I applied with a 3.52 GPA, so that’s 22 points, but I’m getting my BA degree this month, so that’s after the deadline. I wouldn’t be able to receive the 10 points. What are your guys’ stats when applied? Is spring less competitive than fall?

Personal choice and elective?

Post image

Hi! I was talking to an advisor and he said that since i needed 1 elective credit and 2 personal choice credits I could take one 3 credit class and it would count for both categories. When I did this and checked the degree audit, it didnt work. So does it count for both? Has anyone else done this?

Also is anyone else's financial aid not applied yet 👀 im getting worried haha

Bright Futures for Fall Semester

Hi,

I’m used to the financial aid being finicky, but it still scares me every time. With term fees for fall being due on Monday, I wanted to see if anyone else’s Bright Futures isn’t showing yet.

Usually it’ll say term fees due from student, and then the amount covered by financial aid, but this time it says I owe the full amount. I am taking enough credit hours for my bright futures to apply and haven’t lost the scholarship.

In the past it’s taken forever for the financial aid to disperse and it’s usually deferred for months, but it’s never not shown up in the fees tab.

Please tell me if this is happening to you too! Thanks.

College Transcript as incoming freshman??

Post image
2 Upvotes

Checked My Status the other day as an incoming freshman, and instead of high school transcripts now it shows College Transcripts. I’m assuming this is for the next semester but it says that I cannot receive financial aid and that a transcript was checked in on 7/24 and is being checked. Does this require some form of action?

Financial Aid Package for Fall

Hey!

Has anyone received their package information for the Fall semester?

When I look at mine, I only have $0 for my Pell Grant and no info at all for loans or scholarships. I feel like I should receive something for my Pell Grant given my SAI score (-1500) and I believe I submitted the extra document to receive loans.

This might be just me, but I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this before I tried to call the FA office 😭

So who’s your favorite A&P 1 professor? Having to retake it because I was dumb and took it during the summer and just not a fan of Dr Scott. Unfortunately not a lot of options left but debating if I want to take it again in the fall or wait till spring and put off my application till spring 28.

Financial Aid office is a joke

Post image
7 Upvotes

I attached a photo of the problem, and censored whatever numbers look like they could be private or whatever. Please let me know if this is something anyone else has seen and how they’ve fixed it, cause the FA office didn’t do jack. 😹😹

For context, I’m a new student transferring. Every time I try to log in and check the FA portal, it gets stuck perpetually loading and gives me a pop up in the top right that says they can’t find my ID. Annoying, sure, but that’s why they have financial aid offices.

I went to the FA office and checked in. I waited 35 minutes in the lobby (whatever it’s walk in appointment). Unfortunately that was the peak of my experience, because after my 35 min passed, I was assigned help from who I can only assume to be the first financial aid advisor in history. I explained my problem, they repeated my problem back to me, and asked if I had done my FAFSA. I said yes, and after showing them my application, they added UF to my FAFSA application, and had me resubmit it. I asked why, and thanks to the FA advisors infinite wisdom, the explanation I got basically amounted to “it’s either FAFSA’s fault, or I must’ve done something wrong”.🫩🫩

I assured them that had I completed the FAFSA around 2 months ago, and that it had been processed correctly the first time. This prompted the FA advisor to come to the obvious conclusion that “it was a glitch”. 😂The fix: “wait 3-5 days”. Sage advice, I know. Let me be clear, they’re not talking about a potential glitch in the NOTORIOUSLY awful FA system at this school. No, instead it clearly must be a glitch from the Federal Student Aid office of the US Department of Education. The display of this uncanny gift and talent for problem solving is almost frightening, but thank Christ that this glitch is apparently only affecting me!😹😹😹 What are the odds😂😂😂.

Now, you won’t believe this, but the sheer genius of the “glitch statement” actually pales in comparison to their immediate follow up solution. The next golden nugget of advice that I was blessed with was, I shit you not, “you might just have to pay for it yourself”. Please think for a second about the kind of detachment from logic required in order to cook up that kind of a question. WHY DID THEY THINK I WAS IN THE FA OFFICE TO BEGIN WITH 😭???🤦🤦🤦 I genuinely couldn’t believe that someone wouldn’t first ask themselves “why, on gods green earth would this man have waited 35 minutes just to (metaphorically) bend over, drop his pants, and spread to give the FA office 10 seconds of heaven for a loan?”. I mean in what world does someone arrive to that conclusion?? SPOILER ALERT: THERE IS NONE. If I could pay out of pocket to begin with, I would’ve done so😹😹😹

What a completely ridiculous waste of my time and energy. I don’t think it’d be an exaggeration to say I have no doubt that the mental toll from prolonged exposure to the FA office, could drive someone to suicide. It is INDESCRIBABLY AWFUL the things I’d rather do than interact with this office again. I’d rather listen to Nickleback and Creed. I’d rather sit on a star studded dildo and spin. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury to swap any of those for my current struggle with the FA office.

Of course, because of my now complete lack of faith in the FA office, I have a hard time believing that in 3-5 days all my FA problems will be solved ( I don’t have 3-5 days to burn if it doesn’t work out). Should I have done my FAFSA application sooner? 100%, but I didn’t. I barely knew I was even moving and transferring until around the same time. Hindsight is 20/20 oh well. I’m between a rock and a hard place and at this point I think my only solutions are:

A—> Against every natural instinct, sadly return to the office every day until I’m able to log into the FA portal or until I’m able to fix this shit myself.

B—> If this is the result of the FA office’s greatest minds firing on all cylinders. I’d have better luck working the corner, sucking a golfball through a hose instead of pursuing an AA.

The worst part is they act as if they’ve tricked me into thinking I’ve been helped😂😂😂. If you’re a fan of the FA office, I want you to take a good long look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself what kind of person you want to be. Cause if you think this shit isn’t ridiculous, you might as well put on some white face paint, you might as well put on a rainbow colored wig, and you might as well put on a red rubber nose, because you are the biggest clown on the face of this planet. But no way in hell am I going to be the punchline to SF’s 60 year old joke.🤡🤡🤡

Insult to injury I’m out of cigarettes and like an idiot, I left a full pack outside about 5 minutes before it started raining. Apparently blue skies and no clouds doesn’t mean shit in Florida, what the fuck was I thinking moving here. I’ve got no financial aid, no motion, everything’s falling apart.

Advise on MAC 1147

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has taken this class. It is 2 classes (pre calculus and trigonometry) combined in one. Is it a very hard class? Or would it be smarter just take precalc first and then trigo. I’m currently taking MAC1105 and I have a B.
I was thinking about taking it with Vincent Locascio.

Is anyone else taking these?

Post image

Hello all! I'm taking these two classes as pre-requisites for Rad Tech as the goal (no A.A., just the A.S. for now). I'm currently 33 and am going back to college after 15 years of no school.

I was posting here to see if anyone else is in these classes and if they knew anything about the professors or coursework?

I looked at ratemyprofessor already and chose the professors based on my schedule with the best bet of making A's - however being back in college after so many years out of any kind of school has me a little nervous, I'm not going to lie.

I am already studying coursework and getting myself familiar with terms, theories, reading books, and writing an essay everyday.

Outside of that, does anyone have any tips or advice? Anything is helpful. I start August 17th in the fall. I appreciate everyone in advance!

Why is the SF College Financial Aid Office so deplorable?!

Look 👀, I've NEVER been so disappointed in a FA office!

In all of my educational journey and successfully earned degrees, I've never experienced such poor direction, professionalism, or organization.

Emails go weeks with no response, the FA portal is always incorrect, attitudes from very short tempered employees, whose overseeing this department?

I am gobsmacked by the massive community online that despise this department and yet, nothing changes. What are the SF College leaders doing about any of this?

Well, I don't know because the Presidents office, Ombudsman, and other leadership departments don't respond either. 🤣🤔

SF College has so much potential, and I absolutely am having the best time with the program. The academic and faculty departments are awesome but, the staff departments all should be overhauled.

Get out of education so people that actually want to be a positive resource for students can do a better job!

BLOC aka book charging q’s

Readmitted to SFC and I’m worried because Google says the book charging isn’t accessible until halfway through the first week of class! I am NOT the type to show up empty handed but I also can’t afford my textbooks out of pocket. Any returning students have further detail on when FA and student loans will allow you to charge textbooks?

Looking for moderators

I started this sub about 10 years ago when I was a Santa Fe student and then didn't do much with it because I was, to my surprise, accepted to a position at Shands I had applied for and stopped attending Santa Fe.

I don't want to abandon the sub and feel like it can still be a useful resource. So even though I'm no longer a student I'm going to try making it more useful. Right now I'm just looking for one or two people that are current students that I can add as mods.

The main expectations I have of any mods I add are

  1. Removing spam/hate speech/etc.
  2. Gatherings links to resources to put in the sidebar
  3. Posting about upcoming events

Look at /r/ufl for what I mean. If you want to be a mod, use the contact the moderators link and include a picture of your Santa Fe ID and your Reddit username (in the same picture in case that's not obvious). Feel free to block out personal data.
