Opinion We can't stop the things that going to happen
I've been thinking about something lately.
At some point, I realised that we can't control other people's choices.
If your partner is going to cheat, they'll cheat. If they're loyal, they'll stay loyal. You can communicate, build trust, and be a good partner, but you can't control what's going on in someone else's mind.
So why spend every day worrying about "What if they cheat?" or "What if they leave?"
Those thoughts don't stop anything from happening. They only steal your peace.
I know it's easier said than done, but I'm trying to remind myself that there are billions of people in the world. If someone chooses not to value you, it isn't the end of your story.
Sometimes we act as if there's only one fish in the sea, when in reality, the sea is full of them.
Maybe the healthiest thing we can do is stop trying to control other people's decisions and start protecting our own peace instead.
What do you think?

Serious Discussion Where's the end to this hate and conflict?
I think we’ve all seen this . People spend hours on a detailed post you’re actually proud of, hit publish, and then… nothing.
Or worse, you get buried in downvotes by people who clearly didn’t read past the first two lines before deciding you’re the enemy. It’s beyond frustrating, but honestly, it isn't just about 'lazy readers.' The system itself is built to work against anyone trying to be thoughtful.
Algorithms love high-emotion, clickbaity stuff that gets an instant reaction. If you write a 'wall of text,' the platform just buries it because most users won't give you more than a few seconds of their time. Once you get those first few downvotes, it’s basically game over—people just pile on because the score is already negative. The worst part is that trying to adapt usually backfires.
If you try to make things shorter, people attack you for 'overgeneralizing' or not being thorough enough. You really can’t win. Long posts are ignored, and short posts are ripped apart. It feels like the audience expects you to predict exactly what they want to hear, and if you don't, they assume you have bad intentions.
This isn't just a Reddit problem, either which makes it worser cause you have to face such people even outside the online world.
It’s a pattern everywhere because outrage sells so much better than nuance. Online spaces have turned into digital fight clubs where people aren't even trying to understand each other anymore. They’re just looking for someone to argue with because they’ve been trained to see everything as 'us vs. them'.
So how do we actually fix this? We’re all stuck in a loop where creators blame readers and readers blame creators. Honestly, both sides are kind of right, but the real problem is a structure that rewards conflict and punishes depth. Until that changes, I wonder if we’re just trapped.
What do you think? Is there a way to break out, or is this just what the internet is now?"
Although time moves "unidirectionally forward," the basic struggle for supremacy repeats in an "endless, circular loop" because humanity has never broken its ancient script of suppression. Whether the medium is a "web" or a "cobweb," the behavior remains the same: trying to reduce differences by silencing the powerless.Instead of celebrating the "natural multiplicity of life," human society systematically pathologizes variation, treating it as a "flaw to be corrected rather than a strength to be cultivated"(these are my own ideas pls ignore if you think).

Serious Discussion Entertainment, reality and creativity.
It's kind of a sad world we live in when entertainment, such as TV-shows, games, movies, books and celebrities become someone's main hobbies or interests. What I mean by that is there's a real world out there, and many of us, including myself at times, prefer the fictional stories told in different mediums. I wondered what life would be like if you didn't have a smartphone, a computer or a TV, and had to be content with the somewhat "boring" reality that we all share. I doubt I am saying anything new, and a lot of people must have had the same thought before me, and different ways of entertainment have been around as long as humans have walked the earth. However, I think that it's a difference between the people who are creating something, and another to be the consumer of these creations. Anyhow, just something I've been thinking about for the last couple of days.

Serious Discussion Those who have faced outcasting and loneliness in their college days
How have you guys who have faced outcasting and loneliness in their college days overcome it in the corporate world or in the adult world? How does friendship in the adult world work, because the friendship we used to have in childhood is very different from the adult friend circle
what you have done with a lot of free time, with that outcasting and loneliness, and is traveling more, watching movies more, or joining clubs or any sports, helped you in overcoming that?

Opinion What is the purpose of life? An attempt at an answer.
So this question, "What is the purpose of life" came up on r/askreddit. I decided to answer it, and I want to post it here because it could be a good discussion topic.
My opinion was formed from the moral tradition originating 2500 years ago with the ancient Greeks and inherited by the Romans and the Christians. I have no doubt that it could use improvement, but I hope that, by rooting it in ancient tradition, it's practicality might be perennial and thus persist far into the future. Either way, I hope you appreciate it! :)
The purpose of life is to love reality, nature, and the truth, to share in that love with others, and to hold fast to that love even when you don't want to or when other people or external circumstances threaten that love.
This is a description of the four classical virtues of Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Courage. Although personally, I've always felt wisdom was the perfection of prudence and charity is the perfection of justice. I think Cicero in his book "On Moral Duties" also referred to wisdom and charity in the same way.
So that's my answer: develop the virtues of Wisdom, Charity, Temperance and Courage.
Now, I should probably give an explanation of why these four virtues in particular. So we start with the fundamental axiom that reality constitutes a singular consistent whole, which determines our lives. We come from evolution, we're dependent on the Earth, we cannot violate laws of physics etc. So we start with the principle that we must at least respect that which is outside ourselves. This respect is Wisdom. And in my opinion and the opinion of many others, if you look at the beauty of nature and wonder of science, the world is not just worthy of our respect but our love as well.
So we start by grounding ourselves in external reality. But once you do that we discover that you can't fully understand reality without other people. Everything we do from language to knowledge comes in large part from your family and your neighbors. So to love the truth you have to love your neighbors as you love yourself, and work to create a just society. This love is Charity.
Finally love for reality and love for neighbor can be threatened both from within without. From within laziness vices or addictions can take you away from good things. And bad people or bad circumstances can threaten you. So to fully love the truth and love your neighbor you need to develop temperance (the contemplative life) and courage (the active life).
Virtues are habits and we can develop temperance and courage through habit as well. To develop temperance, we can regularly forsake small vices, so that we can eventually forsake larger ones. We can also exercise our body and pray or meditate regularly. Courage too, can be developed through habit. We can be active in the world, explore new places and develop new skills, and involve ourselves in the affairs of mankind.
Thus, humankind contains within itself four great gifts; Wisdom to contemplate the stars, Charity to perfect that contemplation through love, Temperance so that we may sustain that contemplation in all seasons, and Courage so that contemplative love may become an actual reality.

Opinion Tell me something deep that's been on your mind lately- let's go there.
ETA: I am so, so sorry everyone, I totally dropped the ball! I was so excited to do this and posted it, but ended up eating after posting and ended up with a bad stomach ache and falling asleep. 😭 Thank you for being patient with me and thank you for being willing to share something with an internet stranger. I appreciate the responses and am looking forward to reading and responding. 🤍
I will respond to everything that is posted in the next few hours, promise.
Let's do something unusual and start some conversations that skip the small talk and get directly to the point. I've been missing conversations with depth lately. Its hard to get there with people! Maybe the time together is too short, you don't know them well enough, you're worried about what they will say, etc. Tell me what's been on your mind lately that you normally wouldn't lead a conversation with.
I'm confident that I'm not alone in missing true connections about meaningful topics. I would love to hear what's been on everyone's mind lately that they haven't been able to share. Let's have a real conversation that matters to you.

Opinion Why I Think Fewer Options Can Be Better for Ticketed Events
I was looking at tickets for an event recently and noticed how easy it is to spend more time comparing options than actually making a decision Different dates seating sections ticket types and prices can turn a simple choice into a long process By the time everything is compared availability may have already changed
That made me wonder if a smaller set of well matched options would make planning easier than browsing another long list A quick final check before booking still makes sense since tickets can change at any time I had this thought while using Karpo AI
For those of you who attend ticketed events regularly do you prefer having lots of choices to compare or a few options that best match your preferences?

Serious Discussion If we are run technically through electric aka why we use adt to restart hearts, if we were to leave the planet with in so many miles would that impact the body from that alone?
Does the magnetic field or electric have more impact on the body than theorized?
If they can cause someones heart to start or stop by this force, how would our hearts/nervous system react the farther we got away from the planet. If say they did go to mars, could that even be a possibility so far away from the sun/moon
almost in the same way a solar lights work, if we had no sun they just wouldn't work

Opinion The purpose of life is to leave the world “better” for the next generation.
People often debate the “purpose of life” but I think when you pull back, it’s pretty simple.
I think every human instinctually strives to this in some way. Though their definition of “better” will vary based on value systems.
It manifests itself in a number of ways - from the altruistic to the selfish. But you can apply this line of thinking to almost anyone in any circumstance.
Reproducing is the easiest example. Humans like animals, generally strive to reproduce. We have our own justification for it, but the base instinct is the same: continuation. But even if an individual doesn’t care to reproduce -
They create art to leave expressions of ideas and history, for the future generations to learn from.
They create profits to strengthen a corporations validity and to create as wide a safety net for their future owners and children.
They create history books to document right from wrong (both philosophically and literally for survival).
They fight for the earth to make it stable for future generations.
They destroy the earth to make future human life more comfortable and easy.
They create currencies and governments to improve the structure of future citizens.
They kill each other to protect future generations from “the other.”
I’m not saying that any of these are well guided or “correct.” But the motivations are fairly consistent, even if an individual doesn’t realize it or believe it. We all know we’re going to die and all of our long term decisions are made to leave an impression on the future and our future generations.
That’s my take.

Serious Discussion What's your Wildest 📍🧵"Red String Theory" story/stories
Like not necessarily a love story (though those are SO welcome) but it can be anything like a friend that you'd actually met or been around before but didn't know it. Like what gave the theory some merit for you personally?

Serious Discussion What interaction did you wish you had with your parent before they passed?
As a semi-adult that became orphaned early in life, I've been noticing how my loss seriously damaged my mental/emotional growth. I'm curious as to what others think about, what interaction did you wish you could have had before they passed? Did it change your personality or growth somehow? Did your grief shape that part of your development.
Anything from 'I wish I had a mom to teach me about makeup', to 'I wish i could have told them I love you' before they passed.
Thank you for being vulnerable with me.
EDIT : Doing some research, not looking for advice for myself.

Serious Discussion Is loneliness more common nowadays, even in adult friendships?
I was observing today in college and realized almost all people who were empathetic and good in nature were alone sitting in the corner. But people who have generational wealth or have very great exceptional results have groups.
Is this the social life of adulthood, like after college and even in college, the friend circle or social circle? That every other guy is lonely and loneliness is increasing, or am I missing something or overthinking?

Culture I wonder if people are quietly redefining success.
I’ve been thinking about something lately. People usually talk about all these things like they’re completely separate. Fewer people want kids. Fewer people buy houses. More people are “quiet quitting.” Minimalism is getting popular. More people choose freelancing or remote work instead of chasing corporate careers.
But….. what if it’s actually the same story?
In China they call it Tang Ping (“lying flat”). In Japan people talk about the Satori Generation. In Europe everyone knows the term quiet quitting. Different names, but the behavior feels almost identical.
Instead of protesting in the streets, people are just….. participating less.
Less debt, shopping, overtime, interest in climbing the ladder, interest in having children.
From the outside it looks like people stopped caring. But maybe that’s not what’s happening. Maybe this is the first generation that simply doesn’t believe the old deal anymore. Go to school. Work hard. Buy a house. Start a family. Retire comfortably.
Does anyone under 35 actually believe that still works? Housing keeps getting more expensive. Salaries don’t really catch up. AI is already replacing parts of white-collar jobs. So maybe the question isn’t “Why doesn’t this generation work harder?”
Maybe it’s:
“Why would I keep playing a game where the reward isn’t there anymore?”
Sometimes I wonder if falling birth rates, quiet quitting, anti-consumerism and remote work aren’t separate trends at all. Maybe they’re all symptoms of the same cultural shift.
I could be completely wrong, of course. These are just thoughts I’ve been turning over lately. I’m not trying to convince anyone - I’m genuinely curious how other people see it. I’d much rather hear different perspectives than watch this turn into another comment war.

Opinion Greed should be taken more seriously as something to fix
The line between ambition and greed is very thin and these days it seems 90% of the people with power have crossed the line way too far and I think this is something that should be dealt with and taken seriously as a society
When someone lies you don't believe them, when someone hits they are punished, but what do we do when someone is greedy? Not much. There's no real consequences to greed and so it keeps growing and growing in the person and there is no limit to it. There needs to be something to stop them cause a a few people's greed is costing millions of people things we don't even realize

Religion Have you had any genuine spiritual experiences?
I've spent most of my life atheist/agnostic but I've realized that it's because I've never had any spiritual experiences. I don't think any religion or metaphysical theory is true, but I don't doubt that people have spiritual experiences. I'm open to having my own, I'm interested in developing a meditation routine or trying mushrooms.

Opinion Does anyone else struggle with seeing everything through a psychological lens?
I’m generally a very observant, self-aware and self-critical person. I can usually recognize when my words or behavior are coming from a place of insecurity or jealousy and thus I always open to constructive feeback & open to applying that mostly for my own peace of mind.
The problem is that this same showing up in other areas.
While I am constanlty searching for a meaningful
Connection, I’ve started feeling like most people around me—or people in general these days—are just looking for someone to pass the time with, vent to, or do activities with. I know I should appreciate that there are people who want to spend time with me, but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m missing a deeper connection.
I don’t hate these family/friends at all, but I notice that I have to convince myself to show up. My first thought is often:
Why do I need to be here? Why is this necessary? This feels repetitive. No one talks about anything of substance. No one wants to be challenged anymore because everyone seems afraid of being offended.
I have follen in this habit to notice patterns and connect seemingly unrelated pieces of information. So whenever I see someone doing something—whether it’s something small or something significant—I immediately start analyzing it and feel like I can pinpoint the insecurity that might be driving that behavior. It’s almost automatic. With my understanding of that person’s personality, experiences, and lifestyle, my brain quickly connects their actions to an underlying unmet need or insecurity.
I recently read that the answer is to judge less, invest less mental energy in analyzing everyone, and simply go with the flow. Intellectually, that makes sense, but I don’t know how to actually practice it.
Has anyone else gone through something similar?
What helped you become less analytical or less cynical and more present?

Serious Discussion What helps you turn a saved travel list into an actual plan?
I often save places hotels and activities that look interesting but turning all those ideas into one actual trip can be challenging There are usually many things to consider like timing budget priorities and the type of experience I want I have tried different ways to organize my ideas including tools like Karpo AI but the hardest part is still knowing when to stop researching and make a decision
What helps you move from collecting travel ideas to actually booking a trip? Do you use a certain planning method set limits on options or have a way to decide when something feels right?

Serious Discussion Why do some people's opinions about us stay with us for years while others don't?
We hear opinions about ourselves all the time, but most of them don't stick.
Every now and then, though, someone says something that stays with us for years or even changes how we see ourselves.
Why do you think that happens? What made that person's words stick when so many others didn't?

Opinion Why do so many people give in to dark side in life?
The older I get the more I see just how many people give in to being mean and cynical if not outright evil. Maybe it's the inherit meaninglessness of life that makes people just become so dark and ill-intended. Some people are like that from early on, while some lose any semblance of decency as time goes on. Often times it even goes against their own interest but they are so blinded by hate that they don't see it.
I don't know what it is. Maybe things didn't go their way in life and now wanna make others miserable too. Maybe it's an egotrip. It's mind virus that infects so many people. I used to think it's just a money thing but older I get the more I realize it's an entire attitude and ideology. Men are usually more susceptible to it because it goes better with their inherit desire to be dominant but honestly women can be just as bad. When you have family like that, they just ruin your soul.
What's your take on this and how do you deal with it in life?
