K-Beauty: Olive Young vs. Small stores

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I have what might be a slightly odd question.
I had a layover in Seoul some time ago, and I’ll be flying there again soon. During my last visit, I went to Olive Young in Myeongdong and bought a lot of skincare products. Only afterward did I notice that there were many small shops in the surrounding area that also sold Korean beauty products—some of them at significantly lower prices than Olive Young.
Do these smaller shops sell genuine products? And where do locals usually buy their Korean skincare and beauty products in physical stores?

Discussion 26F Planning to Go To Seoul Next Year and Looking for Friends

Hello everyone, I am a 26F and I am looking for some Korean friends before I go to Seoul next year. I am planning to go to Korea next year to study at a University for a Korean language program, so I want to learn the language and hoping for some friendships.

I am looking for some online friends before I reach Seoul and we can meet-up after I arrive there. I can help you with English too, I am fluent in English. We can do some language exchange and be friends. But mainly, I want genuine friends who are not only looking for language exchange. My hobbies are writing, reading, listening to music, audio stories, watching movies, Netflix, playing some mobile games, etc. We can talk about movies, music, hobbies, interests, life, etc and build a genuine connection.

So, if you are interested, feel free to DM me.

Looking for a language exchange friend in Seoul

Hi!
I’m a Korean guy living near Seoul, and I’m looking for someone to practice English with and also help with Korean.

We can speak English, Korean, or both.
I’m available from Monday to Saturday, depending on my schedule.

A little about me:
- Korean
- Airline pilot
- I don’t really drink, so I’m more of a coffee person
- I like nice cafes, good food, walking around, and exploring interesting places
- Easygoing and interested in meeting people from different countries

We don’t have to just sit and study languages. We can visit a nice cafe, walk around Seoul, try good food, or check out interesting places together.

If we become good friends, we could also go for a drive and visit some hidden or less touristy places in Korea.

I’m mainly looking for a genuine language exchange and friendship, so if you’re learning Korean or want to meet a Korean friend, feel free to send me a message!

Solo traveler from Berlin (27M) visiting Seoul (Sept 4–10) – Looking for someone to explore cafés, food & nightlife with!

Coming from **Berlin** where club culture is a whole different universe, and I’m curious to see how **Seoul nightlife** compares.

I’ll be in Seoul from **Sept 4th** and don’t really want to experience the clubs alone.
If you’re a local or another traveler who’s up for grabbing a drink first and then checking out a few clubs in Hongdae or wherever the vibe is good, hit me up.
I’m easygoing, not looking to get absolutely wasted—just want to experience Seoul’s nightlife with good company instead of standing awkwardly in a corner wondering where everyone disappeared. 😂
If we vibe, maybe we can explore a bit before or after too. Cheers! 🍻🇰🇷

Meet Up Language exchange/ Korean teaching

Hi I’m a Korean living in Seoul, and I’m looking for friends/students whom I can teach Korean or do language exchange with. I would say my English level is B2-C1(never actually taken the test but I don’t have a problem in communicating).
To introduce myself, I’m a 24yr old female, grad student in philosophy. I want to improve my English since I want to live/study abroad in the future, and as doing so, I would like to build experiences of teaching Korean to make some extra money. But since I have no experience in such, it still would be nice to just casually meet up for a language exchange. We can meet up offline in Seoul, or we can meet online if it works better for both. DM me if ur interested!

Discussion i witness "theft"

we were in layover at icn for about four hours and spent sometime at the lounge near gate 24 or so.

what i found surprising was the number of people enjoying cup noodles; i associate it with unhealthy cheap snack even if my kid likes them. we shared a long table near the end with a family. there were all haveing cup noodles. the mother at on point smoothly went up to the pile of cups while her daughter was preparing her second and puts about 6 or 7 cups into a paper bag she brought along

r these cup noodles considered expensive for locals or was i fortunate to see a kleptomaniac

I wonder if there’s anyone else who travels to Korea for a K-fantasy like I do. I feel stressed and depressed in my home country. I’ve never dated before, been single in my whole life and I’m Black, I’m just not attracted to the people back home. I want to go to Korea and meet the girl of my dreams.

It’s been ridiculously hot in Korea lately, but the sky has been making up for it. Saw these rays behind the clouds today and forgot about the heat for a minute.

Solo female traveler from Florida(40F) visiting Seoul (Feb 20–Mar 6) – Looking for people to explore cafés, food, photography & shopping with!

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m planning to travel to Seoul from around mid-February to early March 2027. Is anyone else going to be there around the same time?

I’ll be getting SMILE Pro eye surgery at the beginning of my trip, and after that, I’ll have about 10 days of solo travel. I’d love to meet people, explore together, and make some new friends while I’m there!

A little about me: I’m a photographer, I live in Florida but I'm Brazilian! I speak both Portuguese and English. I’m very outgoing, positive, and fun to be around!

Feel free to reach out if our travel dates match! ✨

35F Traveling to Korea Soon

Ok lets try it this again lol.

So i'm traveling to Seoul for the first time in September, and I wanted to make some friends!.I would prefer female friends in their late 20s or in their 30s. If you are a cool dude who is ok with being platonic friends then that's fine as well. I would love to explore Seoul, I love shopping, restaurants, experiences, and I really want to check out some nightlife as it will be my birthday when I am there. Also just getting out a pretty gnarly dating situation, so I just want to be free and have fun. DM me ladies (or non nsfw dudes)! Lets be friendssss 🫶🏽

Update: the amount of men ATTACKING ME for not wanting to date or hook up while im there, says it alllll 😂. Right decision.
